Wore this to a gala. Beautiful but not flashy. Covers your top up. Long length meant I had to wear super high platform shoes and my feet were killing me by the end of the evening. The buckle on the shoes caught in the underskirt and got snagged up in it.

Interesting pattern
Liked this dress. The pattern was interesting but not overwhelming on my short frame. The hooks and belt were a little worn. Was not as long as most formal dresses which was good for me.

Solid Choice
I liked this dress. Rented it for a concert. The neckline is flattering and just a little different, the material is heavy enough that it doesn't wrinkle and it hangs right. The only comment I would make is that, in general, the dress was darker than it appears in the photos on this web site.

Loved the Unusual Style
Wore this to a symphony concert. It's a fun dress that will make you stand out in the crowd because of the different patterns/textures. Loved the pockets. The skirt is quite full - it might be too full for some. I received compliments on the dress. I think it fits true to size. I usually wear a 4 and the 4 would have fit better than the 6 I ordered.

Fun, Different Dress
Didn't get to wear this to my event because the size I needed was returned damaged. I tried on the bigger size. The length would have allowed me to wear flats if I wanted to (I'm 5'3") so it will be above the ankle on most people as is shown in the model photo. Also, if you want to, you can wear a belt to nip in the waist. I tried a thick leather wrap belt with the dress and it looked good. The material was nice and not too thick. The pattern was fun. I wish my size had been available.

Nice Dress - Material, Cut and Pattern Worked Well
I'd rent this dress again. It does have a full skirt so it's very comfortable to wear. The high next makes it easy to wear a standard bra. The dress can be dressed up for an evening event or worn with flats and a cardigan for a nice brunch.

Good choice for a concert
I wore this dress to the symphony one night and the opera the next. It worked well and was comfortable. People liked the lace detail on the back. Cute yet modest. It's nice to have a dress to wear in the winter that covers your chest and back. Thumbs up.

Good Black-Tie Optional Dress
I wore this dress to a black-tie optional event. It worked well and I would recommend it. It is not flashy and is comfortable to wear. I did not receive many compliments like I have received in the past wearing RTR dresses but that’s OK – I was going for understated. If you add a statement necklace and great shoes that would increase the glamor of the dress a lot. The high low hem was not as pronounced as the photo. The pockets were great. The size four fit but I wore the size 6 because it was more flattering around the top of the dress. In short – a very comfortable dress that is sure to work well for whatever event you choose to wear it to.

Comfortable, confident dress
Great dress, easy to wear, comfortable, good for winter. Wore it to a dinner, concert, reception one evening with strappy heels and a work presentation during the day with pumps. Used a little temporary hem tape to fold under the sleeves because they were too long and that worked great - you couldn't tell. Yes it runs a little big but I think if I ordered the next size smaller it dress might have been uncomfortable around the sleeves/armhole area.

Shorter Than Described; Runs Small
I think the dress runs small. I usually wear a 4 if the skirt is A-line but that didn't fit. The 6 almost fit but not quite and even if it did fit the dress was really too short for the event I am going to. The description says this dress is mid-thigh to knee length on a 5'6" model. It is definitely shorter than that. The sleeves are snug and might be too tight on some. However, the design of the dress is interesting and different and the material is substantial enough to keep you warm and not wrinkle.

Compliments All Night Long
Wore this dress to a 1950's Golden Age of Broadway event. Everyone loved it. Yes the top does run small so go up one size. I am 5'3" and wore 5" heels and that worked although I did have to walk carefully to avoid stepping on the tulle. I would highly recommend this dress.

I couldn't even begin to zip this dress up. So yes, the dress runs small. It is a nice dress though. Seemed longer than the other RTR dresses I have received for some reason. At 5'3" wearing 5" heels it was still a couple inches too long. I have fair skin and the dress ended up being too close to my natural skin color so it just really washed me out. I would order some jewlery to wear with it too. The other reviews made this dress sound wonderful but watch out if you have fair coloring and do order a size up.

Pretty dress, tight in hips, material wrinkled
This is a very pretty dress. Unfortunately I was not able to wear it. I usually wear a 4 on top and 6/8 on the bottom. In order to fit it over my hips and backside I would have had to wear the 8. That meant the top was too big and gaped/proofed out around the arms. Also, the dress doesn't really accentuate your waist if you have hips that require wearing a larger size. (I wonder if a belt would help with that?) The material also looked wrinkly. I didn't try to steam it though because I did not end up wearing the dress. The dress would look better on a person who is more straight up and down. Wearing 5" heels the dress just skimmed the ground - I'm 5'3". It is a glamorous, old Hollywood, dress though. I wish I could have worn it.

Yes, it runs small...
Did not end up wearing this dress. The grey color is not very exciting. I usually wear a 4. I managed to get the dress zipped but it was too small - I ended up with back cleavage it was so tight! I ordered the petite length. I would have had to wear flats with this dress if I did not want to see my shoes. Overall the dress has a vintage feel. It feels a little like a costume; a little old fashioned. Overall I was not too excited about it.

Lots of compliments from strangers!
The dress is simple enough that you can dress it up with heels, black hose and jewelry but it can also be more casual with flats and bare legs. I wore this dress for an evening play opening and then the next day just to go out to dinner. I was amazed by the number of compliments I received from complete strangers even though I thought the dress was a "simple" dress. It is loose in the waist - I could have worn the 2 with room to spare but then the arm holes gaped so I wore the 4. I felt like it needed a belt but the seam around the waist was a little too high for me - it hit at the bottom of my rib cage rather than my natural waist.

Sure bet dress – lots of compliments
Wore this to a symphony concert and reception. Material is nice – thick enough it didn't wrinkle and the dress has a lining. The only negative is the lining peaked out at the hem. The bubbles on the pattern are light colored, but the background is a darker color. The darker background showed up a little more than the picture. A-line skirt left lots of room from the waist down and was flattering. The top is snug. Received lots of compliments. One stranger in line for the bathroom said they liked the dress and asked if it was a vintage dress.

Black Tie Optional Art Deco Themed Gala - Lots of Compliments But...
Many people complimented me on the dress. It was just right for the event and I am glad I rented it. The 3 (rather than 4) stars has more to do with the fact that there were many plastic threads sticking out where sequins had been pulled. However, you could not see that sequins were missing when the dress was on, and the complexity of the pattern helped to hide the threads. I wear a 4 usually but generally go for loose or A-line skirts. This is a shift dress so I had to go up a few sizes. I could have worn the 6 but the 8 was a little longer on me. The material is stretchy so that helps. I did feel like I had to subtly tug down the skirt every once in a while, especially at dinner when we were sitting, but a more confident person probably wouldn't have worried.

Worked great for Friday concert and Sunday reception.
Dress worked well for a Friday night event with heels and then a Sunday reception with pumps and a jacket. The lace with the cream/nude under slip looked great. Agreeing with other reviews, the sleeves might be tight on some ladies. The skirt is not a pencil skirt but it is pretty straight - I usually wear a 4 top but 6 bottom. This skirt worked on the bottom but it was snug. The under slip had a tendency to peak out from the black lace.

I wanted a dress that I could wear to work and then a dinner after that was not a cocktail or party dress. This fit the bill. The A-line skirt was comfortable to wear all day, the print hid any wrinkles from sitting. I liked the matching belt. Color was grey not black as previously noted. Only negative is the neckline in front did not sit completely flat, but the dress still loked good.

Nice, understated formal dress.
Worked well for my gala because it was not too flashy but was formal enough for the event. Because many of the attendees were older, I didn’t want to wear something too revealing. The one shoulder neckline was attractive but also covered enough so that I felt comfortable. The skirt is not too tight although it will show any lumps or lines in back so wear appropriate undergarments to smooth things out. I originally ordered the petite length so that I could wear low heels but the dress was too short. Even with the regular length I could wear low 1-1.5” heels. Dress is slightly longer in back. Overall the dress worked well but it is not a dress that will make you stand out. It is a good, elegant formal dress that could work well for a wide range of ages.

Elegant and not overstated.
These earrings worked well for a gala I attended. I wanted something sparkly but not overstated. A lot of the other earrings on RTR appear to be very big and flashy. These were just right. I received compliments specifically on these earrings. They didn’t overwhelm my face but were large enough to stand out and shine.
