Putting the closet in the cloud is a complex challenge, one that
attracts those with an entrepreneurial spirit. What we offer in
return is a transformative life and career experience.

Our Team

We set a high bar in determining the ideal candidates for Rent the Runway. Above all else we look for people who think and act like founders. Do you dream big? Do you have relentless curiosity, passion, work ethic, and scrappiness? This is a place where you can grow and accelerate your career. That’s our commitment to our employees.

The Tenets of Our Culture

A set of core values guides how we treat each other and collaborate, laying the foundation for a culture that is fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and rooted in passion, kindness, and positivity. We live by these values – we hire by them, promote them, and celebrate them every day.

Underlying our values are these key tenets:
  • Great ideas can come from anywhere.
  • Opportunity is yours for the taking.
  • Risk and failure are encouraged.
  • Embrace and trust the RTR Family.

Life at RTR

The idea behind Rent the Runway is inherently fun, and that bleeds into our culture. Our team spirit is no joke. With events like our annual beach day, anniversary party, ski trip, and dozens more throughout the year, our team comes together to let loose and bond. This culminates in our annual Core Values Celebration when we honor core values winners with personalized (and very creative) tributes.

Our D&I Commitment

We are proud of what we’ve built at Rent the Runway so far and we are committed to continuing to strengthen our culture of diversity and inclusivity. We are actively building a comprehensive D&I strategy, with current initiatives focused on training, focus groups, inclusive recruiting, analyzing employee demographic details and more. We are committed to ensuring Rent the Runway is a place that attracts diverse talent and supports the ongoing growth and development of all of our employees.

We are lucky to have an incredibly dynamic team that is already diverse in so many ways across a variety of functions within our organization. We are committed to stepping up our initiatives while continuing to foster an environment where people can bring their best, full self to work each day. We look forward to enhanced creativity, collaboration and community as our team continues to evolve.

Our Actions in Progress

In our ongoing commitment to provide transparency to our communities, below are some of the external actions we are taking to promote Diversity & Inclusion within the fashion industry.

We have donated $100,000 to support organizations combating racial injustice, including NAACP and Black Visions Collective.

We are allocating an additional $1M to support Black designers through our wholesale, platform and co-manufacturing initiatives, which includes providing design resources, data, mentorship and financial support to create collections for RTR. It is critically important to us that a significant portion of our $1M goes towards launching fashion brands from Black designers who have not had the investment capital to launch on their own.

Inspired by Aurora James, we are making our own pledge and committing that at least 15% of the fashion talent that we feature and support moving forward are from the Black community. This is inclusive of the models in our marketing, the ambassadors we partner with, and the styling talent, photographers, videographers and crews behind the camera.

Rent the Runway is an equal opportunity employer. In accordance with applicable law, we prohibit discrimination against any applicant or employee based on any legally-recognized basis, including, but not limited to: race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, lactation, childbirth or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity, age (40 and over), national origin or ancestry, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, genetic information (including testing and characteristics), veteran status, uniformed servicemember status or any other status protected by federal, state or local law. Our commitment to equal opportunity employment applies to all persons involved in our operations and prohibits unlawful discrimination by any employee, including supervisors and co-workers.

Our Benefits

We want Rent the Runway to be an example of what a modern workplace should be – one that is more human, focused on its people and their well-being. This means recognizing and supporting the many facets and phases of employees’ lives and fostering a culture that allows them to thrive both personally and professionally.

Rent the Runway would not be successful without the hard work and dedication of our team. We owe it to our employees to take care of them. For that reason, we provide equal leave benefits to all employees across our corporate, retail, and warehouse teams.

We are deeply grateful to team members that have helped build RTR, and, in return, we reward them – like with our sabbatical program, which enables tenured employees to take extended time off to nurture their curiosities and passions outside of work.

We support employees through all aspects of life, during celebratory and challenging times alike. Policies, such as paid family sick leave, paid bereavement leave, and parental leave, put the individual and their families first and give them flexibility to do what is best for their needs.
