Lovely and comfortable
Generally I'm a size 8-10, but the 10 I barely got zipped. Luckily my order arrived a few days early and I had time to re-order the larger size which thankfully fit! I have a full B cup and a pretty wide rib cage - forewarning for the busty ladies out there, this dress may not be for you! I was a little uncomfortable with how low down the right side of the dress fell on my chest. It was a conservative wedding and I found myself pulling it up quite a bit. That being said, everything else fit wonderfully with the size 12. The length is perfect, not too modest but conservative enough for a wedding, very flowy and comfortable material. The best part was I didn't even have to wear a bra!

SIZE DOWN!
The dress is beautiful in person and seems to be really well made. But dang, it runs LARGE! For reference, I'm about 5'7, 160lbs - pretty solid size Medium or 8-10. I got this in a medium and it was HUGE. First off, the hips are sewn in a way that, if you don't have very womanly hips, it just doesn't work. I have no hips at all and the dress had so much excess fabric on the sides. It also hung badly around me because it was so large. I think if a small had been available it would have been great! Alas, not for this event.

Scratchy - fits weird
Maybe it's just my body shape but this dress just didn't work. Looks like it's supposed to have a cap sleeve, but it had a poof to it which was not attractive. My arms were SO scratched up from just trying it on. Bummed, this looks so great on the model but it was a big no for me!

BEAUTIFUL!
This was my backup dress but I'm SO GLAD I got it because it's what I ended up wearing! It fit beautifully and I felt really good in it. I've recently gained a lot of weight so it was important that I didn't feel uncomfortable or like I was tugging at the fit all night. Some say the see-through part on the leg comes a little high, but I thought it was just right. The only this is, if you're sitting down, it can look a little risque - but only if someone is looking REALLY closely at your lap (which is weird anyway). This was my first Slate & Willow rental and I'm sold - I can't wait to find out what other dresses they offer!

Beautiful dress - bad for my body type!
I was SO excited about this dress for my birthday dinner, but it just did not work out. I don't have any hips at all, which created some weird pooching on the sides of my body. I also have a fairly wide rib-cage, which is where the real trouble began - the medium fit well everywhere except right at the seam around my ribs which made it impossible to zip higher than that point. The large was WAY too big and looked baggy and weird. So sad this didn't work out!

Gorgeous!
A few friends had a fancy cocktail party and surprised everyone by getting married - I knew this would be formal cocktail attire and this dress was PERFECT! I'm 5'7, about 145lbs, straight & narrow and the dress fit almost perfectly - I will say the lace in the arms has ZERO give and was slightly uncomfortable when hugging people, but you couldn't tell just by looking at it. Love this dress, definitely willing to rent again. I got compliments all night long!

OMG I wanted to steal this bag!
This bag is PERFECT! It's a large enough to hold what you need at a party/event, but not overly large. I was worried glitterstuff would get everywhere, but not one piece came off! Will definitely rent again (assuming I don't just buy one)!

Stunner!
The dress fit perfectly! I've gained quite a bit of weight over the last year and was very nervous trying to figure out which size would be best. I ordered the 6 and 8 and the 6 was a perfect fit! The dress is extremely comfortable - I'm always worried with sparkly dresses that they'll be scratchy, but I didn't notice anything like that all night. I wore this to a Masquerade Ball charity event and even the MC running the show called out on the mic from onstage how much she loved the dress! This dress had been on my list for a while now and I was just waiting for the right event to wear it . Now I'm figuring out what other excuses I can come up with to order the same style dress in the hunter green and white!! (Please excuse the poor photo quality - the dress arrived about an hour and a half before the event and I was rushing around like a madwoman to get ready!)

Amazing dress!
I had a gala that required cocktail attire and I really like this look - it reminded me of a tuxedo. The dress fit beautifully in all the right places. Often times I find a dress that fits well around my chest/ribcage but is either too large around the waist/booty or much too tight. This fit so well and I LOVED the pockets (who doesnt!?). If I had the chance, I would absolutely purchase this dress!! The only thing that wasn't fabulous was the silky material on the pockets developed a crease after sitting for a while. But as an all black dress, it's doubtful anyone else every even noticed!

NOT for Straight & Narrow Girls!
This is the 3rd Elizabeth & James dress I've rented and I was super excited - my sister and I just decided to have a nice night out, so it's not the worst thing that the dress was pretty awful :( Elizabeth & James runs very small, no matter the dress. I generally run 2-4, sometimes 6 in dresses, and I am a solid 8 with E&J. But the dresses are very high quality, the fabric is sturdy and forgiving. This dress seemed to have a simple enough shape that I had no worries about it. Unfortunately this particular cut is clearly meant for a woman with hips, of which I have none (shaped like a 13 year old boy, over here....) It fit great on top, but right in the hip area it got REALLY poochy with the excess fabric. I could have shoved pillows up in there... I was sorely disappointed, but it happens. The stylists at RTR are amazing, and I've already got another dress on the way which I'm very excited to try! Even though this was not a winner, the company is fantastic and I will continue to be a customer!

I received this as my "Mystery Bling" and I could not have been happier! It was larger than I expected, but in a good way. I worried it would be a teeny-tiny clutch I could barely get my phone into, but it was the perfect size. It is completely beautiful, and of course it's Zac Posen so the quality is fantastic. Highly recommend!

GREAT dress!
This was actually an emergency backup that I received literally the DAY OF my event! Elizabeth & James dresses, in my opinion, run very very small. I'm usually a 2-4 in dresses and ended up in the 8! The six fit but was uncomfortable and unflattering. I called in dire need of a replacement from the first dress and the RTR rep was awesome - she found me this dress and also sent a necklace (I asked her to just pick one that would look good) because the one I had ordered came broken. Mostly I was nervous they would not arrive on time but they got to my office mid-day and were perfect! The only thing that wasn't great was it was a bit loose in the bum area - but I have NO bum to speak of so this is just info for ladies in the same position! :)

Size UP! Holy moly!
Unfortunately this dress did not work for me at all. I generally wear a 2 or 4 (that's what I thought I ordered, turns out my order was for a 4 & 6 but I was sent 2 & 4 somehow....) but the 4 would barely even zip up on me. When I did get it zipped it was less than flattering! However, the dress is beautiful and the material is great, very sturdy. The color was vibrant, but not obnoxious. This was going to be the dress for my own 30th birthday dinner party, needless to say I was really bummed that it didn't work and also in a bit of a panic as it was only two days away! The team at RTR was FANTASTIC and helped me out right away. Sadly they did not have this dress available in a 6, so they sent me another style that is similar. This was not an ideal first go with RTR, but they've been so wonderful that I can't wait to use them again!
