The outer layer is a bit loose whereas the inner layer is more tight. Since I ordered two sizes, in the end I wore the size 6 slip with the size 4 outer layer. Nude undergarments are non negotiable with this dress. Very fun piece for the birthday party fundraiser I attended which was speakeasy themed! The dress was easy to accessorize because the sequins have an almost mixed metal look to them. I wore two strands of faux pearls (one blue/navy and one pearl), a gold crystal headband, red lipstick and black pumps for the speakeasy look. If you accessorized it differently (less sparkle and pearl), I think it could be worn for a fun (non themed) night out.

Great fit! Loved this dress! The v cut in the front and back is a little deep, so a little fashion tape would help if you're worried about a bit of exposed bra. (I wore a coordinating black lace bra, just in case!) the high-low hem with the lace detail is beautiful and very eye catching. I wore this as a guest to a winter, evening wedding and received loads of compliments wearing this dress. I accessorized it with simply gold jewelry, gold foil handbag and red lipstick. The hidden pockets were great for storing my lipstick in case of a quick touch up! The fabric is thick, so it's better suited for cooler weather. Be careful walking backwards in the dress... I lifted my heel up too high and too fast and got a little stuck in the law trim.

Rented this as my backup dress for a formal dress wedding. The color is a dark charcoal black with a hint of method sparkle. I loved the asymmetrical top and the shape of the skirt. I was worried the 6 would be too large, but it fit fine. Unfortunately I did not wear this dress out because I preferred to wear my first choice blue mermaid style dress. Would love to rent this dress again for another event!

Wore this dress to a formal dress evening wedding and I felt fabulous in it! The blue color was very flattering and a lot of fun. The 4L was a little snug in the waist, but that's part of creating a flattering curve with the dress. The 6L was too loose in the hips for me, so I went with the 4L. Another fit note: I'd say the fit measurements for height are based on your height without shoes on. I'm 5'10" and could have wore a variety of heels with the long length dress. I settled on a 3 inch heel that you still wouldn't see peek out from under the dress unless I was lifting the dress to pass through a crowd. So just keep that in mind if your monster heels make you 5'8, you might be fine with the regular length. This was my first time wearing a mermaid shape gown, so it took me a little bit to master movement in this dress. Contrary to what the other reviewers wrote, it is possible to eat, drink and dance the night away in this dress! Just pick the right size and watch your surroundings and you'll be just fine. The dress is beautiful so no one is going to miss you in a crowd. :)

Wore this to an evening wedding held at a historic theatre. The dress was a great blend of fancy cocktail dress plus the artistic pattern of the flowers. This light reflects beautifully off of this dress in photos and on the dance floor. Easy to dance in as well! The dress has built-in boning and some bra-like support. I could have worn the 4 without a bra, but preferred the piece of mind of wearing the 6 with a strapless bra. Nonetheless, the dress didn't budge at all once I had it on.

Beautiful dress in the model photos, however, it really didn't work for me. First, the dress runs very, very small. Second, there is a lot of boning in the bust area which made a snug fit extremely uncomfortable. I had lots of red imprints on my skin after wearing this dress. The 1-shoulder strap is constructed a bit odd as well... You'll see in some of the candid photos that the armhole almost extends toward your chest and then the strap crosses back over your shoulder. The color is a cream of off-white, not really a bright white. And the yellow skirt looked kind of cheap. Was really looking forward to moving around in this dress and loving it, but it just was not meant to be for me....

Loved the color and fit of this dress! I wore it for an outdoor wedding in the spring in Florida. The fabric isn't clingy but also doesn't stretch much. The flared skirt is a lot of fun and the pockets were helpful for me to carry a lipgloss around with me while I left my small purse at the dinner table. I recommend using fashion tape if you need to keep the dress in position (I did). Both the 4 and the 6 fit just fine and I think I wore the 4 for a more snug and secure fit in the bust. I loved wearing the dress and I received lots of compliments wearing it.

Rented this for a day of horse racing in North Carolina. It happened to be a hot, sunny and humid day so having this cotton (felt a bit like linen), flared dress was amazing luck! I accessorized it with black and white bracelets, white and gold statement necklace, black hat and white straps (flat) sandals. Both the 4 and the 6 fit fine. I wore the 6 for a looser fit on that humid day. The dress has pockets too, which was a nice bonus!

Beautiful dress! Wish I could have worn it! I'm 5'10 and due to the high neckline of the dress, I just could not make the size 4 work for an evening of moving around. Also, there are sequins on every edge of this dress. It was very scratchy on my arms and I knew on NYE I'd be moving around night. If you are tall or have sensitive skin, I recommend sizing up to have some room in the neck and arm openings.

Rented this dress for NYE. We went to a fancy dinner and then out to a beer garden for the evening. Loved the rose gold sequins with the mesh - it's the perfect mix of glamorous and edgy. I wore the size small (over the XS, which fit too) to have room to eat, drink & dance. The detailed description of the dress should note that the side panels of the dress are black mesh! You will want a skin-tone strapless bra with this dress. I tried it on with a black strapless bra and it was too obvious to wear with black. The dim lighting of the bar and restaurant I went to helped hide the skin-tone bra from showing through the dress.

Loved this dress! Ordered the 4 with a 6 as backup. Both fit, but the 4 was actually more stretched out in the bust than the 6, so I wore the 6. I would suggest fashion tape for the top (if you have a petite bust) to keep it all in place and covered up. There's some stretch to the skirt so you'll be comfortable moving around all night. I wore this dress as a volunteer at a black tie charity event and in this dress I felt just like one of the big donors! Would highly recommend renting this one.

My backup size of another dress wasn't available so the stylist sent this dress as a backup instead. The dress is very pretty on the hanger and pretty on the right body type (I saw the navy version on another young woman at the party I went to). I'm straight-&-narrow body type and this dress just didn't have enough definition to make it flattering on my body type. I think this dress looks better on someone with more curve.
