Wore this gown to a black tie wedding at the Metroplitan Club in NYC and I fit right in with the socialites! The mermaid fit was so flattering but spanx shorts are a must because your thighs will be rubbing all night!

The dress has a slight train which makes it even more elegant; ascending the stairs felt regal! The fabric is heavy enough to prevent those little bulges that may show on tight dresses. There is some boning along the waist, and it did end up irritating my skin by the end of the night (but that's probably because the fabric was a little worn where the boning ended).  Otherwise it was absolutely perfect - I'm so glad I bought it!

I was so in love with this dress, I did not want to return it. I was long enough for a tall girl like me to wear about three or four inch heels, but no taller so I would not recommend if you are taller than me and want to wear them. Very thick fabric so you didn't have to wear any shape wear or a bra. A little difficult to get around in but man did I feel good in it. I also got about a million complements!

I loved this dress. I felt so glamorous and beautiful. It fit perfectly and color is stunning. I got lots of compliments at the black tie wedding I attended. I highly recommend this dress.

This dress is WONDERFUL! I am a relatively small girl of average height (5'6, 135-140 pounds, very slender athletic build with a curvy bottom half, 34B bustsize) so I am often worried about buying dresses because most that fit me in the bust, are too small for my hips/bottom and those that fit my hips/bottom are usually a little loose in the bust. This dress fit me really well, aside from a tiny bit of looseness in the bust that was barely noticeable to anyone but me. The quality was amazing, although it did arrive with the sash (that was supposed to be sewn down to the bodice) detached in one place but again, this was completely impossible for anyone but me to notice. Overall, I will absolutely shop RTR again and I had an amazing experience and I loved this dress!

This dress fits very long and was perfect for my proportions. The 6L was too large in the hips, the 4L was comfortable to move in, a bit large in the bust even though I'm 34DD. I wore a sticky bra and it was fine. I loved the material and the way it accentuated all the good curves !

The dress looks rather shiny in the photo, but it's not as sleek a material-not silk. It was a bit tight in the mid-section and rode up a bit as I walked. Once I would settle in place though, the material fell and sat on me perfectly. It fit perfectly in the upper body and I didn't need to wear a bra. GORGEOUS GOWN!

Rented this gown for prom. Tried the size 0R on in the Georgetown store and it fit but ended up using the size 2R backup gown - thank God there was a backup! It fit like a glove. Received compliments all night long and felt like a princess. Rented the necklace and earrings too, which made the outfit stand out. Will use RTR again without hesitation! 

Absolutely gorgeous dress! The fit, fabric & color were awesome! If you're curvy, this dress flatters those areas! I was really worried that my hips were going to be too large for this mermaid type dress but the fit was amazing! I usually wear a 10 in loft, so I ordered a 12 which is probably more true to size. The bust was a little large, but with a padded strapless bra, it was no problem. Great military ball dress & I would highly recommend RTR!! #subball16


I wore this to a "prom for grown-up" cancer benefit and it was a hit! The options for unlimited formal gowns were very limited, so it was not my top ten choices. But it worked out for the event. It was very snug! So size up if your concerned. I wore spanx to prevent any lines. It was a little difficult to dance and move around in. I got a ton of compliments!! Beautiful color, much more bold then the photo. I am 5'7 and the regular length just his the floor with 3" heels. If your in that in between height go for the long.

I received compliments on this dress from the time I stepped out of the car. It runs a little small (it was tight in the hips) and short, so order 1 size up from your normal dress size and order the long if you plan to wear any kind of a heel. Only the regular was available in my size, so I wore a kitten heel. Overall, I loved this dress!

A little tight. I'm between an 8-10L dress size currently and I went with the 8L since the 10L wasn't available. I made it work with some spanx. Great length - wore this with 3 include nude heals. Went bra-less and this fit perfectly in the bust. 

I ordered the 6R and the 8 as a back up.  I have a bit of junk in the trunk, so the 6 was snug on my hips but I made it work.  I tried the 8 but it was too big up top and the boning kept poking me in my ribs, and I kept having to pull it up.  So I went with the 6.  The only difficulty was walking because I'm only 5'3" and the dress is on the longer side.  Got so many compliments on the color and style.  I'd rent again! 

I am 5'5", 120 lbs, and a size 4 in good clothing. This dress is very fitted and the fabric has no give, so if you are between sizes, definitely select the larger size. This dress was tight in the bodice, and as a 34B there was some extra room in the bust, but I just wore a padded strapless bra and since the dress is very structured, it stayed in place. As lots of others have said, the dress runs very long. I wore 5 inch platform heels and the dress was to the floor. 

I wore this dress for our engagement shoot in October.  The dress fit like a glove and it was perfect for my height because I am 6'0" tall.  Damion was a great help and found the perfect dress for the occasion :)

I am 34DDD and I had to end up ordering the 12R so that it fit the girls. I am normally a size 4 or 6 in Ann Taylor if that helps. The dress was incredibly flattering, although long and I was wearing VERY high heels. I had to be very conscious of the length the entire time as I was frequently stepping on the hem. You need to kick as you walk! All, in all, I received many compliments. 

This dress was sent to me as a replacement when my original rental was damaged and I couldn't have been happier.  The color is unreal!! In my opinion, the 2L dress ran TTS to slightly big.  The length was perfect (I am 5'7 and wore 4 in heels).  The cut was extremely flattering and comfortable.  I felt like a princess!  Thank you RTR for having such awesome customer service.  

I wore this dress to my daughters wedding.  Not my first choice.  Original dress was too short.  RTR overnighted this dress and was perfect.  Customer service outstanding.  

I couldn't wear a strapless bra with this, but just stuffed the bust area in the dress a bit to get some lift. The dress is flattering in EVERY picture - I have a bit of a lower tummy but you could not tell at all. Totally beautiful, will be using rent the runway again. I think a 6R would have worked as well (I have broad shoulders/collarbone but a very narrow ribcage, and then sizeable hips)!

This dress is a great royal blue in person and fits great (a little snug in the hips for me) but the 8 was perfect. I'm 5'3" and 145 lbs and wore 4-4.5 inch heels which worked out well. I didn't have to even wear a bra and I have a pretty big chest, if anything it made me look smaller and I didn't have to keep pulling the dress up throughout the night. 

Had to grab this last minute when I didn't like the original dress I ordered. This was a 4L definitely too long for me (I'm 5'2" and I wore 4" heels) but I loved the fit so I made it work. Couldn't zip it up with a bra on so I went without and it was supportive and flattering. The fit around the waist and hips was perfect. I wore this dress for 7 hours and I was very comfortable all night. So happy I exchanged the first dress for this one, I would definitely rent it again.

Sized up since other reviews said the hips were tight, and I'm glad I did! The color is truly stunning and the fabric although heavy still felt light. I wore platformed heels and the length was perfect.  I will definitely rent this dress again! I felt like a million bucks!

The color was amazing. I got so many compliments on my complexion with the tone of this dress, the elegance, and fit of the dress. I have a hourglass shape and it hugged my curves perfectly. Accenting every thing to make me look sexy and elegant. I felt phenomenal wearing this. The train is long and I needed to wear 5.5inch heels but I wouldn't have had it any other way. The sheen and cut in the back were my favorite points about this. I can't rave about it enough. I had people asking me to buy it from me or suggest I wear it to other events! Definitely a show stopper. Heavy and luxurious fabric makes you feel the expensive nature of this dress!! 

Love this dress! I wish I could have kept it. The 2L was too long. I only rented it because it was the only size in the store. A 2R would have probably fit better, but I used hem tape and it worked out just fine. 

Bust area was too large so had to do some pinning but for a strapless dress, it was incredibly comfortable and beautiful. 

I am 5'6" and it was a tiny bit long. Everywhere else it fit perfectly comfortably.

Typically wear a size 2/4 pant, small top. I am extremely flat chested but athletic on bottom. Fit like a glove. I did wear a backless strapless bra, which added a LOT, so if you have a chest, I wouldn't anticipate this being an issue.  I typically weigh around 133, on the day of this show I weighed 122 lbs. I wore 5 inch heels (am 5'5") and dress JUST grazed ground (2 LONG). Dress is pretty true to size. 

Color photographs wonderful! I am 5'2" and wore 4 1/4 inch heels and the Regular length was perfect to walk in. It will need a steaming or pressing when it is received to get out all of the many wrinkles and folds, but comes out beautifully. The side hip little material fan, I tacked in an open position. So it did not flop or move around for photos, walking and dancing.  

This color is absolutely stunning. The 4 I ordered was a bit big on me but I tend to be between a 2 and a 4 depending on the brand. Wore it for a Make A Wish event and received probably the most compliments out of any RTR dress yet! This one is a must have!

This dress is a really beautiful color and fit me perfectly (I usually wear a four, ordered the six just in case, but the four was true to size). The has a beautiful little train and is fairly easy to move in, I wore it to a formal dance. I don't love the bow detail, but it didn't take away from the dress. Would definitely recommend it!

Wore this gorgeous dress to a black tie gala fundraiser. The blue is such a gorgeous color, and changes depending on the lighting, it was perfect for the events theme. Overall fit was comfortable, and shows off curves. I received compliments all night. Great dress!

I wore this to my husbands military ball. I got the 10 and the 12 and the 10 fit like a dream. It was a little bit big in the boobs, but a strapless push up bra took care of that. It is also very figure hugging so I had to hike it up a bit to sit. I am 5'4" and the length was perfect with 3" heels. I got so many compliments all night and it made me feel so beautiful :) would definitely get again! 

I usually wear a size 4 and this size 4 was just a touch less fitted than I hoped for, but it made the silhouette very forgiving (no VPL or phantom bellybutton). The color and shape are amazing. I was a little nervous about being overdressed because the website photo makes the material look very shiny and kind of prom dressy, but IRL it's a bit more matte, just right. The train isn't crazy either; I wore with 1.25" heels and only had it stepped on twice. :) 

One thing to know is that it will get creased in shipping so make time to steam out that wrinkle before your event. I didn't and regret it!

This dress was gorgeous and perfect for a black-tie event. I ordered the 2L and 4R, I am 5'8 and 124 lbs. The 4R was too big in the chest and waist, so I wore the 2L. The 2L was a bit too long, but higher heels make it work. Overall, absolutely perfect!!!!

The reviews were fairly accurate, so the dress fit as I expected. It was VERY tight around the hips, and sitting down wasn't the easiest. It was also a bit loose in the bust. I had to use double-sided tape, and also wore a strapless bra. It didn't stop me from wildly dancing later, though! Dress arrived slightly wrinkled, I'm not sure I'm a fan of this bag that folds up. It might be helpful to add some cardboard or something to keep the dress flat during shipping for delivery. 

I wore this dress for a reception my husband and I hosted to celebrate our elopement.  The dress helped make the evening magical. The dress is very well made and feels amazing. The lining in the bodice is substantial and allows you to feel confident when dancing the night away. The length was perfect for 4 inch heels. The material is very flattering and thick as it does not give in to every body imperfection. 

The dress was a little hard to get in to and some of the ribbing was poking out and cutting into my skin. But otherwise the gown looked AMAZING on me and it covered up my problem areas well. 

Wore this dress to a formal dress evening wedding and I felt fabulous in it! The blue color was very flattering and a lot of fun. The 4L was a little snug in the waist, but that's part of creating a flattering curve with the dress. The 6L was too loose in the hips for me, so I went with the 4L. Another fit note: I'd say the fit measurements for height are based on your height without shoes on. I'm 5'10" and could have wore a variety of heels with the long length dress. I settled on a 3 inch heel that you still wouldn't see peek out from under the dress unless I was lifting the dress to pass through a crowd. So just keep that in mind if your monster heels make you 5'8, you might be fine with the regular length.

This was my first time wearing a mermaid shape gown, so it took me a little bit to master movement in this dress.
Contrary to what the other reviewers wrote, it is possible to eat, drink and dance the night away in this dress! Just pick the right size and watch your surroundings and you'll be just fine. The dress is beautiful so no one is going to miss you in a crowd. :)
