Beautiful dress!

The dress was sent to me after the original dress I ordered for our engagement photos was returned damaged. The dress is a really beautiful deep blue (deeper than the photo on the model) and fits like a typical Herve. I have worn or tried on 5 other Herve's from RTR and have always worn an XS and this one was no different, the XS is very comfortable and I'd say it runs true to size. That said, I would say that it is middle of the road to tight on the scale of XS's I've tried on, so I would recommend sizing up for your back up size. The only caveat to this is the cap sleeves which are a little loose, so if you have to size up, you may need to use fashion tape on those to keep them in place. The dress itself is really pretty. I am a thin person but I have that "arm pit fat" that a lot of women have regardless of their size. Unfortunately (or "fortunately", depending on how you look at it ;) ) my hair is hiding this in the photo, but, due to where the cap sleeves attach in the front of this dress, a little bit of my arm pit was visible on the outside of the sleeve, which drew a lot of attention to that area of my body. I still think the dress is super cute and flattering overall - just something to keep in mind if arm pits are a problem area for you like they are for me :). I would still highly recommend this dress (and most other Herve's). Beautiful!

Beautiful color!

This dress was sent to me as a back up when the dress I originally ordered for my engagement shoot was returned damaged. The color on this dress is just gorgeous and the neckline is really flattering. I'm 5'6.5" and I felt like it was long in the torso, which is odd for me and likely most people my height. The length wasn't super flattering on me and it seemed to accentuate my hips in a way that I didn't think was ideal (because of where the skirt flared, it made me look a little broader in the hips than I am - I'm actually covering up the place this is with my hands in the photo which was unintentional and I'm too lazy to put the dress back on for another shot :)). I actually still think it's a really cute dress, this cut of dress often makes me feel this way about my hips so I was not super surprised - if this is a cut that usually looks good on you, then this dress will probably be stunning. I have tried on or worn 5 other Herve's from RTR in the past and have always worn an XS, this one is the same. I would say it hit in the middle on tightness (it wasn't the tightest XS Herve I've ever tried on, but it wasn't the "loosest" either). I would highly recommend this dress to someone who thinks the cut would be more flattering on them or someone who likes the idea of a Herve, but isn't up for the full body bandage dress :). Really beautiful!

I wish I could wear this dress every day!

This dress was sent to me as a back up when the original dress for my engagement photos was returned damaged. I was really bummed when my original dress wasn't available - I had become really attached to the idea of it and had planned a bit of the shoot around it. Even though it's not that dress, this dress is AMAZING. It's quite a bit different from the original dress in style and color, so we're having to change some things around, but this dress definitely made me feel a lot better about the situation. I have worn or tried on 5 Herve dresses from RTR in the past and always wear an XS. This one is the same and I would say that it's one of the "looser" Herve XS's I've worn (is there a such thing as a "loose" Herve?). This dress is very very long - I am 5'6.5" and I need to wear 4.5" heels for it to still sweep the floor. As with most Herve's, it has thick, high quality fabric that sucks you in and really flatters (and flattens) where needed. The color is a deep blue that looks black in some photos and navy blue in others. It also really accentuates your chest, so be ready for some decolletage. I am not wearing a bra with it, if you wanted to wear one, you would need one with a low back or one of the sticky bras with no back since the back of the dress is pretty low cut. I think it would also be difficult to find a bra that would not show in the plunging neckline. Despite the neckline, this dress is really classy and I would be comfortable wearing it to a pretty conservative black tie wedding (and also to a non-conservative one ;)). This dress is gorgeous!

Stunning!

This dress was actually sent to me as a back up when the original dress I ordered for my engagement photos was returned damaged. It is really gorgeous on and very flattering. I am usually a true 0 in dresses, but the 2 in this was really perfect and I don't think I could have squeezed into a 0. The color is more of an orangey-red than a true red, but it's really pretty and unique. The fabric on this is thick and high quality, that also helps to smooth out imperfections ;). Despite fitting like a glove, I feel like I can move well in it, there is a silk lining that is sewn into place (love when they do that so it doesn't slide around and bunch up) - I think the lining helps with mobility because the dress moves easily against your skin. Highly recommended. I would definitely size up for your free back up, I have tried on about 20 RTR dresses and have never needed a 2 before this dress :).

"Whimsical" is the word of the day :)

This dress was sent to me when the original dress I ordered for my engagement photos was returned damaged by the previous renter. I got the 0R and the 2R in this gown. Unfortunately, both were damaged when I received them. The one I am wearing in the photos is the 0R. I am usually a true 0 in dresses, so I would say it fits pretty true to size, maybe slightly on the small size due to the sleeves. The sleeves were not too tight, but the lace has no give, so you can't really make large arm movements in it :). Before I noticed the damage, I sent pictures to my best friend and fiance - both texted back and said it was very "whimsical". My fiance walked in the door a few minutes later and pointed out there was a reasonably sized tear in the sleeve around the wrist area. On the size 2R, the zipper was separated from the fabric right at the waist, the zipper would stick there and I did not want to force it past that point or get stuck in the dress so I did not attempt it, though the 0R fit perfectly, so I imagine it would have been a little big. The stylist, Mary Kate, was very helpful and sent out a couple of alternative options for me when I contacted them and let them know about the damage. I think this dress is really beautiful - it's not going to "slim" you by any means (the poof factor definitely didn't do anything for my figure, haha), but I think the purpose of the dress is a certain look and not to be particularly flattering. I think it would be beautiful for a ball or for engagement photos. I recommend sizing up for your back up size. The last suggestion I have is on length, I am 5'6.5" and the R was just long enough if I wore flats, I could not have worn ANY heel with it at all (which was fine for me, I was planning on wearing flats). If you want to wear heels and are around the R/L height cutoff, I recommend going with the L.

Pretty color

I ordered a size 0 in this dress with a size 2 as a back up. I was notified before my shipment that the 0 was returned damaged and was no longer available, but they still sent me the 2 just in case. I am generally a true size 0, and the 2 in this was huge on me (you probably can't tell, but in the side shot my body was turned, but my chest was moving independently of the dress because it sat so far off of me). I am a 34C, so I am not tiny up top, so I was surprised that was so big even in the 2. In the straight on shot, the dress being too large makes me look a lot wider than I am, I think because it has some good structure to the bodice, so it sat out from my body instead of laying towards it. So definitely try to aim for your correct size or smaller. The dress itself is a really pretty color and there's a little sparkle to the dress which is fun. As others noted, the dress is much longer in person than it is on the model (which makes sense because the model is probably like 5'10"), but I am almost 5'7" and it still hit me long enough not to be super flattering. I think it's a really cute dress for someone who is very tall, or if you have a themed event. I would base your sizing off of your waist (if your waist is a small feature for you, then I would size down). There is not any give in the waist, but the rest of it is pretty roomy. I definitely think this would also be very cute on if it had been the correct size :).

Great dress - train wreck interaction with RTR

This is the second time I've rented with RTR and the second time I've received an email the night before my dress was supposed to arrive letting me know that the dress I reserved was damaged and I need to pick something else. This time, there was nothing available for rent that I liked more than the dress I had reserved. They were nice about it, but instead of offering a refund, they offered a free future rental - doesn't do much good as I'm unlikely to trust them with an event given these two experiences. I might just rent something for fun, but that means I paid for their poor management of dresses. Anyway, the first alternative dress they sent did not work. That's when I found that this dress was available for Saturday, so I asked if they would send it. They did...to the WRONG address, despite the fact that they'd sent the dresses to the right address the day before. I had to make a 1 hour round-trip drive to get the dress and was LATE to the wedding. There response was: "I am very sorry that the dress was sent to the prior wrong address on the order. Please keep me posted with how the gown fits and let me know if you need anything else." A pretty unacceptable response for the trouble and stress of the situation. The dress was good. The 0L was stretched out and the boning in it was a mess (it all laid flat, but had moved around within the bodice) so I was pulling it up all night and it made me instinctively push my stomach out to hold it up, but it looked good in pictures. I opted to wear wedges given others comments on regular heels catching in the lace and I didn't have any issues all night. The color was really pretty, as others have stated, it's more of a deep blue that's almost purple. I would not have paid to rent this dress had I had the choice, I would have just borrowed from a friend.
