Classy, comfy and fun

I rented the 2 and 4 since I fluctuate between those sizes, and wore the size 2--both were tight in the waist, but the size 4 was a bit loose in the straps. I was able to wear a regular (smooth, not textured) bra, but I had to tuck the hanger loops into the inside of my bra so they didn't create a lumpy texture on my chest. I also recommend seamless underwear without any texture (not even lace). This dress is tight all around and does not hide any stomach rolls, so if you think you would be self-conscious, I recommend a different style. I paired it with pearls got compliments ranging from hot to sophisticated--a rare find for the lower priced rentals. I loved the asymmetrical style and the flowy fabric over one arm and around the back to the other side--this made it feel fun, especially when it caught the breeze. It was a good choice for an outdoor wedding in sweltering heat, but I also think it would have worked for an indoor winter wedding. Even though there are so many options out there, I think I would rent this one again!

Fun fabric and sexy back!

This dress is really fun option for the bride at a bridal shower or rehearsal dinner. It's covered in shiny silver circles, outlined in white and with a yellow background. Paired with yellow shoes, it was perfect for my gray and yellow color scheme. I wore it without a bra due to the open back--even though it was a little bit loose up top, the material was thick enough that I didn't have any problems. Would rent it again if I had an appropriate occasion! It does photograph more white than yellow, so I wouldn't suggest wearing it as a guest to a wedding event.

Gorgeous pattern, quality fabric, fun style!

I rented this for date night and also wore it to a family dinner and drinks with friends--got a lot of mileage out of this one rental! It was a little on the dressy side for those events but received lots of compliments and felt great. I especially love the cut and detail of the top--note that the part that looks like exposed stitching without a back does actually have nude colored fabric behind it, so your bra won't be exposed. The waist and hips are on the snug side...strangely, I felt the backup size 6 was tighter there than the size 4. I think the 6 may have had a little more room in the shoulders. The zipper was a little difficult over the waist band but I got it after a minute. Caution, the bottom of the dress does blow up in the wind! I had to hold it down when walking around downtown on an unexpectedly breezy day. Otherwise, comfortable and worry-free. Would rent again!

Gorgeous, unique dress! Fun and flowy

I was a little nervous about renting this dress for my cousin's wedding because it had almost no reviews, it looked like it could be too casual and just a little too short, and it might require a special (backless/sticky) bra. It ended up being just right for the occasion--a late May wedding in the Pacific Northwest, where it was damp and a little chilly, so perfect conditions for a classy maxi dress (with a shawl to keep my back and arms warm). It was definitely fancy enough for the wedding, though could alternatively be dressed down with a jean jacket as others have done. The back is higher than I expected, so my regular strapless bra ended up working just fine and wasn't visible at all. I opted for low wedge sandals rather than flats, even though the dress is just a tad too short, and with flats it might have been 1/2 - 1 inch above the ground instead of 2 or 2 1/2 inches which verges on awkward length (the reason I deducted one star--wish it came in long). On the grass the length looked perfect, but on solid ground you could tell it was a bit short. It has adjustable shoulder straps, which is really helpful for achieving the right fit, but the darts at the chest didn't fit perfectly...they were a little off, but not enough for me to care. The dress was flowy and fun, and unique pattern that I just loved. It's blush colored and the dark designs are like a deep brown, not black. Hope that helps you decide if it will work for your occasion! Thanks RTR for another fun dress experience.

Perfect dress for a summer garden wedding

I received tons of compliments in this dress and was told I should try to buy it! While the fabric is very thick and tapestry-like, the skirt is quite airy so I never felt over-heated despite being outside on a hot (86 degree) summer day. I made good use of the pockets for carrying my sunglasses and my cell phone, which were hidden from sight during family portraits and stayed safe while dancing. The dress was extremely comfortable, and the only con was that when I sat down and stood up again, I worried about whether my butt was completely covered because the skirt poofs off the body and can feel like nothing is there. That didn't stop me from spinning and spinning on the dance floor, though!

Classy necklace for black tie wedding

I got lots of compliments on this necklace at a classy black tie wedding in NYC. I wore a long red dress with a high neckline, and I bet it would also have looked great with a strapless. Not to light, not too heavy, and it looks just like it does in the photos. Definitely recommend!

Flowy, fun gown for a black tie affair

What you see is what you get with this dress--it's a fairly simple yet elegant style with a conservative neckline (almost too high/tight for my taste) and lots of fabric for a flowy skirt that's fun to dance in. I thought it needed a big necklace to glam it up, and I discovered (like many other renters) that it looks great with the Antique Cascading Crystal Necklace by Ciner. I'm 5'4.5" and the 4R was the perfect length for me with 2.5 inch heels...however, it was also fine (just grazing the floor) when I switched into flipflops, and the only time I had trouble with the length was when going up stairs. The real issue I had with this dress was zipping it up--it catches at the waist and even with two helpers I panicked that it wouldn't zip up, but after a few minutes we got it. It was comfortable at the waist, not too tight, but I'm glad I got the 4 instead of the 2. I'd recommend it to a friend but probably wouldn't rent it again because I want to try something new! Thanks RTR for the excellent customer service, as always.

Awkward fit

This was a backup dress for a black tie wedding, chosen and sent to me by an RTR stylist when my preferred dress was damaged by the previous renter. It was red like my original choice, but the pink accents didn't work as well for a fall wedding as they might have for a spring or summer event. I would not recommend this dress for small- or medium-chested women--the top was huge and puckered out in a few different places (I am usually a 2 or 4 and was sent the 4R). The material was stiff so since it was too big, it had several odd-looking lumps around my chest and hips. The belt was way too big for the dress but it had a 4 written on it in Sharpie, so I'm not sure what the story is there...it was extremely loose on me despite having been clearly altered by another renter who moved the snaps in a few inches to make it tighter (so then it was still too lose, but also had a little flap of extra belt sticking out awkwardly like a tail). An adjustable belt or ribbon would be much better on this dress because it pretty much has to sit perfectly at the waist. Contrary to other reviewers and the RTR guidance, I do think it could be possible to wear a strapless bra with this dress--I tried it and it didn't show despite the low back of the dress. It's a pretty nice look from the back, but the front was so weird there was no way I was going to wear it. Fortunately my other dress fit just right in the one size available, so I went that route and got lots of compliments!

Fun, comfortable dress perfect for semiformal wedding any time of year!

I only got this dress in one size so was delighted when it fit perfectly. I thought it looked a little too youthful in the photos but gave it a chance anyway (as last-minute backup for two dresses that completely didn't fit), and am so glad I did! It was for a spring/summer (May) wedding but I could definitely see it being a great winter dress as well. It's a beautiful dark shimmery blue--great color and unique texture. The top is tight but didn't feel restrictive because of the stretchy black material on the sides, and the loose skirt kept me cool on a warm day, was great for dancing, and hid any potential after-dinner bulge. I loved it with the Kate Spade Sweetheart Scallops necklace and would rent them again (together or separately) in a heartbeat. I almost did for the next wedding I attended, but then decided to branch out. I'm sure it will make its way into my closet again soon.

This necklace is HUGE, bold, and heavy...

I ended up not wearing it because the dress itself was a statement piece and I felt this necklace (a) didn't match the colors (see photo), and (b) overwhelmed the outfit. It's way bigger (and heavier) than I expected, and the color is a yellowish-greenish-brownish translucent resin with gold glitter...it looks just like it does in the RTR photos but I thought it would match my dress better, and just didn't. Too bold. I'd recommend it for dressing up a simple black outfit, but watch out with other colors/patterns/styles.

Fun dress for my 30th birthday bash!

This is a really unique dress--the top is silky but textured, and the bottom feels like a soft tapestry, with a weighted hem. The textures and fabrics made me feel like I was a Game of Thrones character. ;) It's a little heavy so I was worried when it first arrived, since I rented it for my June birthday and it had been 80+ degrees, but we had unseasonably cold weather that day so it was perfect with a short black cardigan and blue-gray scarf (I thought the black alone was too severe because on the dress it fades into almost gray). It was difficult to match with my own jewelry and it didn't work with the Kate Spade Steal the Spotlight necklace I rented (colors were off--see photo), and the neckline was a little high for my taste, but the sleeves were fun and the fit was perfectly true to size. I wore it all day at work and then all night at my birthday party, and it was comfortable the whole time. It may look tight around the ribs in photos but didn't feel that way. Definitely enjoyed this free birthday dress thanks to RTR PRO!

Comfortable and fun!

This dress was a backup backup selected for me by RTR stylist Brenda S. when my original dress and backup size and backup style all didn't fit! The color is beautiful and perfect for a spring/summer wedding. Temperatures were in the mid-80s so I was worried about sweating in it but the pattern and fabric didn't let it show. :) And the loose bottom helped keep me cool. Great shape, and it has pockets! I loved it with the Sweetheart Scallops necklace that Brenda also helped me pick out. The one negative was that the chest area was a little big, but it was pretty tight in the ribs, so I wouldn't have wanted to size down. I would say you should have at least a B or C to wear this dress without it being baggy. But that said, I would definitely rent it again!

Not as flattering as on the model

The mint color on the website photos is way prettier than the color in real life, which is like a bright Granny Smith green, or even darker. It didn't match the Perfect Pitch necklace I rented to go with it, which has pastel blue (I thought it was mint green too from the photos). Like the other Shoshanna dress I ordered for a weekend of two weddings, this one was really loose in the lace sleeves/straps. It was also just baggy overall in the chest area. I would guess that it might fit better on women with larger chests, longer torsos, and smaller waists, but it didn't work at all for me. I'm usually between a 2 and a 4, and in this dress the 4 was quite large and the 2 fit from the waist down but still had the baggy arms problem. Pictures are of the size 2. (I wouldn't have wanted to size down to a 0 because the waist probably would have been too tight.) The layer under the lace also wasn't flattering...it was a shapeless, strapless bag with some wire boning in it that really didn't help to give it any shape. I was looking forward to wearing this at a semi-formal May wedding but had to call RTR for a last-minute replacement. Brenda was a champ and helped me find great styles to replace both my top choice and backup dresses, both of which were Shoshanna and had the baggy straps problem. Thanks, Brenda and RTR!

Loose sleeves/straps

This dress is a pretty color for a spring/summer wedding and fits true to size except for the lace sleeves/straps, which hang loose in the back with all this extra fabric. It made the dress completely unwearable for me. I have a short torso so maybe someone with a long torso wouldn't have this issue. I couldn't size down because the waist was pretty tight--comfortable enough, at least pre-meal (there's no stretch to the fabric). Also, I wasn't a huge fan of the layer underneath the lace, which has wire boning and doesn't give much shape, especially around the chest, so wouldn't recommend for smaller-chested women. Overall the dress didn't flatter my shape, either. Unfortunately I had to send it back, but RTR was very helpful with overnighting me a perfect replacement in time for my 2 pm wedding the next day!

Gorgeous but way too small!!

I was really looking forward to wearing this dress at a black tie wedding and ordered it even though there were only three sizes available--2, 10, and 12. So no reasonable backup size. I'm normally a 2 but occasionally a 4, so I knew from the other reviews that there was a chance the 2 wouldn't fit...and unfortunately that turned out to be true. There is a complicated arrangement of zippers and snaps to get into this dress, but there was a good 2 inches of skin (and rib cage) between the sides of the zipper, so there was no way it could have zipped. I wonder if even the 4 would have been too small. So heed the warnings, ladies--order a size up and probably another size up for backup! Thankfully RTR was awesome and a stylist shipped me another dress (in 2 sizes this time!) so I'll still have something beautiful to wear at the wedding. Thanks, RTR!

Lovely fabric and pattern, somewhat awkward fit

I LOVE the colors and pattern of this dress, and I'm pretty sure I got the right size but the fit was a little off. It probably should get 3.5 stars instead of 4 because of a few idiosyncrasies. The top was very baggy (though admittedly I'm somewhat small up there) but the waist and skirt were just right, so if I had gotten a smaller size it might not have fit. Maybe my torso was too short for this dress. Also, it was missing the belt that is supposed to come with it, but fortunately I noticed that in some of the other review photos and planned ahead, bringing a pearl-colored satin belt with me that worked pretty well as a replacement. It created some bunching in the back, but it looked good in the front! The dress would have been much more casual without the belt, so I'm glad I had a backup. The skirt is also quite long, so if I had worn this to the wedding reception instead of the rehearsal dinner, it might have been difficult to dance in. Not sure I would rent it again because of the awkward fit, but I'm glad I got to wear it once!

Pretty but I didn't wear it

I read in other reviews that this was a good summer wedding dress, but when I took it out of the box my first reaction was that it felt like a quilt! It is very thick and has three layers on the bottom so it's not exactly lightweight. I have a pretty straight and narrow frame, and it ended up making me look pretty boxy. I think it would be really flattering on someone hourglass or maybe pear shaped, but on me I just looked wide because of all the fabric. The skirt is also VERY poofy (even more than in the photos), which I expected but as my bf said it was kind of like Alice in Wonderland, and I felt just too ridiculous in this dress to wear it. What a shame! The material is very nice...it just wasn't for me. Also, I couldn't zip up the dress in my normal size, so I would suggest ordering a size up! I really wanted to like it enough to wear it, but all the friends I asked essentially said they thought it was okay but not great.

Somewhat high maintenance...

I think this looked great, and it's a pretty coral silk, but the beading on the neckline is really heavy and I was adjusting it (pulling it up/back on my shoulders) all night so my bra wouldn't show. It's sexy...definitely low-cut...but on the verge of being too low. Fits true to size or possibly on the big side...the bottom was somewhat tight, but if I went up a size the top would have been ridiculously baggy. I'd rent it again for the right occasion (probably a slightly fancier party than the one I was at). I liked the sleeves! Definitely one to wear with your hair up.

Fun birthday dress

This dress is unique and you're guaranteed to get compliments. I wore it for my birthday and didn't have any problems with it riding up and exposing the slip, as some other reviewers have noted (maybe I was just never sitting down?). The belt is a must, so I'm glad it was included. It wasn't the most slimming dress or the most flattering/sexy for my figure, but I thought it was pretty anyway! And definitely very comfortable--I was never self-conscious about any part of it. Sadly, I didn't get a single picture of me wearing it...guess I'll have to rent it again someday!
