There aren't a ton of occasions these days to dress up, but over Labor Day Weekend my family got together at our shore house for a BBQ and it seemed like a perfect chance to rent something nice. I've got to say THIS skirt is why RTR Unlimited was created. It was incredibly unique, wildly attention-grabbing, and so fun to twirl in. That said: I would never be able to wear again without catching that same attention, as my skirt seemed to be the talk of the soirée! While I wouldn't say it was comfortable during a dinner party (definitely no give after the entree course - things got tight fast!) it was perfect for dancing around after dinner! The colors pop, the metallic portion slits at the back on all four tiers so it definitely looks better head on, and the fastener clip felt flimsy BUT it held on all night and I loved wearing! This dress was so dreamy for a black-tie affair this winter. It was long enough to nearly graze the floor in flats (I am 6'2"), but I wore gold shoes to complete the look when I was dancing. That said, I felt secure in this dress, lucky enough to not have to wear a bra. It was incredibly flattering, and I got heaps of compliments. I wasn't entirely sure about the pattern, nervous it would look sort of like a carpet IRL - cast those concerns aside immediately. The material is luxurious and not too heavy. Loved it so much!

Ok, first and foremost: this is a low-cut dress. Like: I don't own a bra that would work with it. That said, I also don't have a terribly large chest, so it was a non-issue for me (at least the first night I wore it for a date night). It hung nicely, and I thought the length was conservative enough to leave a little to the imagination. The color is rich and lovely. I did try it for a cocktail party as well, and felt much less comfortable in that situation, mostly because I was moving a lot more (i.e. more opportunities for wardrobe malfunction!) Luckily, nothing slipped, BUT it was more challenging to wear in that situation.

As soon as I slipped this dress on, I immediately felt more powerful, more stylish, and stood up straighter. Good dresses can have that effect on people. The material is smooth and forgiving, the pop of pattern at the sleeves adds that little something extra, and the length is appropriate enough to wear with stockings (or leggings when it got cold). I wore this once for a board meeting of a volunteer group of which I'm a member, and for work one day. Both days I felt like a million bucks, and even when I had to get up and present, I was confident that it hung well and looked good (but still work-appropriate). Two thumbs up - wish I owned!

BUT what I didn't realize (I guess didn't look at others' reviews closely enough) was that, if you've got some thicker thighs, it goes from a potential peek of skin to a VERY high slit. I ended up wearing this dress with a pair of black leggings under, and getting heaps of compliments, but I would NOT have felt appropriate wearing in the office without a second layer. I rented this for work, expecting it to look a little sharper than it did. It arrived fairly wrinkled, but easily steamed out. That said, the appearance wasn't what I was going for. Yes, the style is nice, but the length was borderline dowdy even for me (and I'm 6'2". I imagine for shorter women, it would be even longer looking - almost floor length. Made it tough to walk, it slowed me down. Also, the large wasn't available so I got the XL - I could've fit into a size down, easily, but because of the large size, the arm holes kind of gaped. I wore it with a grey, fitted long sleeve shirt underneath and felt more comfortable.

This dress, while beautiful in color and a nice material, just really missed the mark for me. Admittedly, I'm 6'2, so most things run "short" but this was borderline inappropriate and, without leggings, I wouldn't have been able to wear it in any situation. The bunching in the upper arm is definitely a step out of my comfort-zone fashion-wise, and I thought it was not as flattering as the model's photo, plus the length was too short on my orangutan arms. Luckily, it bunched up pretty easily, so it worked out. One wear was enough for me, and I wouldn't rent again, but I'm glad I tried.

This dress is definitely a step outside of my usual, casual attire for work. But the end-of-the-year department meeting seemed like a good opportunity to dress up a bit. I wore a black fitted turtleneck underneath, and also think it would work with a number of different slim-fitting tops if you wanted a pop of color. Pockets - who doesn't love that - and a conservative length that's great for the office (though too long to make me want to wear it out of the office and into the evening unless I had super glam heels).

I had a fall wedding in Philadelphia this year and ordered this beautiful blue dress when I saw the dress code listed as "swanky cocktail attire". This dress definitely fit the bill. I loved the color - even more vibrant in person - and the back was absolutely stunning (once I'd figured out how best to adjust the straps. Couldn't wear a bra, but definitely didn't need to (both by design of the dress, but also as I'm fairly small up top). I also felt like this dress could disguise the enormous meal we ate, allowing me to dance afterwards without worrying about a full stomach! The bottom layer is shorter (for me, at 6'2") but still appropriate for a church or anything like that, and the high neck allowed me to forgo a necklace and just focus on other accessories. Totally affordable, and a total knockout!

I'll start by saying I'm 6'2" and, while this dress wasn't grazing the floor, it was long enough to be perfect with flats. I got heaps of compliments, especially on the back (the real show-stopper). I'm glad I don't have a larger chest, as this would not have worked with a bra. Very nice and thick material, great for a surprisingly chilly wedding evening (though at times on the dance floor things heated up). When the dress arrived, there was a small tear in the seam by the zipper, but I didn't have time to get a replacement so I put a quick seam in at home so it wouldn't puff out when I stood up. Would recommend to anyone looking for something classy with a hint of sexiness!

I rented this dress for a retro luau birthday party and it couldn't have been more on-point. However, I have since stalked the designer and found the dress for sale, and bought it because I loved it so much. Add a suntan and this dress really pops. It's long enough for me (who towers above most at 6'2") and, despite the long sleeves, breathes well enough for summer time parties, day into night. I expected the large to work for me, but since it's a wrap, the medium fit perfectly! However, avoid stiff breezes (or wear shorts underneath) as the wrap style is a double edged sword, and you might give everyone a little show if it's windy! Best dress I've ever rented. 11/10

This dress was sent to me following an issue with my original order, and I think that might've been the best accident possible! The wedding I attended was the first with many of my partner's pals, and I wanted to look stunning - this dress totally delivered. As a 6'2" woman wearing heels, the fact that this 10L grazed the floor when I danced was shocking and delightful. First of all, shoutout to user "Lo" for the hair inspiration. This dress was love at first sight, the perfect dress for my best friend's wedding! She didn't have any bridesmaids, which allowed for all of us to really shine in our personal styles. This dress, paired with some gold accessories, is hot hot hot. At one point, the mother of the groom asked the bride who that "ravishing woman in red" was, and I couldn't help but blush (not quite as red as the dress). Very va-VOOM. I ordered the 12 as well, but was positively swimming in it. After a HUGE meal, the 10 did feel a little snug around the stomach, but not enough to not wear it. I was sad to part with this, and would recommend to anyone looking for something to really stand out!

Worn for a black-tie banquet at a convention, this dress was too good to be true. I knew what to expect with the under-arm chafing from all the sequins, but sometimes, beauty is pain. I accessorized with the bare minimum, thin, black, sparkly earrings, because truly the dress stands alone. Anything else would be a distraction. If you're curvy or hippy, this dress won't hide that, but it will make it more beautiful than you ever expected. For once, I didn't feel like Princess Pear. I felt my inner Beyonce come out. Other than the slight underarm chafing, the dress was incredibly comfortable. I'm 6'1", and the long was a little short, but I'm used to it, and don't tend to wear heels anyway. I've never received more compliments on any single article of clothing. You better believe I'll be R-ing the R-way again.
