This is a stiff, structured piece that can be difficult to put on. I followed recommendations and sized up to ensure it would fit over my broad shoulders and drape well over my mid-section. It looked fabulous and people stopped me on the street to compliment my look, which amplified how much I felt myself in this piece. This is a warm, crotched dress - I do not recommend wearing in warmer climes unless you're spending the majority of your time inside an air-conditoned conference hall, board room, office, or museum. As for styling, this can look dowdy because of the length and overall preppy design. I recommend a fashion-forward pointed toe heel/mule, dainty slide, or striking loafer (with some height) for balance.

This is a very smart quilted jacket. Not very thick, this piece looks great for either a day of touristing around a cool, foggy city or on a cold walk through the park or a vineyard. This jumpsuit was made with great quality fabric and details - it is simple, elegant, and with a surprising back cutout that keeps it from becoming too frumpy. I'm a curvy US12 and 5'7.5" and the 12R fits me comfortably - even with some additional quarantine weight. I've worn this countless times while I telework. In fact, it's become a go-to piece when I need to look a little more put together for a speaking engagement or important meeting. It translates well on camera and keeps me comfortable whether I'm sitting at a desk, working from my couch, or propped up against a mountain of pillows in bed because the lighting is best in my bedroom. The front zipper, the gold buttons on the sleeve, the back cutout, and the overall drape are amazing. But if you're looking for a form skimming jumpsuit, this piece is the exact antithesis of this. The material is quite thick and upon your first wear it will feel very stiff. So beware.

I'm so glad this finally became available in black. I rented the navy version of this back in December to complete a few navy/white/black outfits. I had sized up one to accommodate sweaters - which made sense at the time, because the sleeves are initially quite tight along the shoulders and upper arms. despite a very loose fit in the torso. In renting the new black iteration for this season, I had both the XL and L shipped to me just in case the sizing was a little too tight in the shoulders/arms again. After trying both on, I was swimming in the XL vs. the perfect silhouette of the L. Also bears remembering that leather stretches with wear; so, if you're between sizes, choose the smaller size in this.

The dress is lovely - the combination of moody velvet and sheer paneling made me incredibly eager to wear it. However, if you're between sizes (especially with RTR's range of designers) or have broader shoulders, bust, or rib cage, you will need to go with your larger size. I am 5'7.5", a 36B 1/2 with ThirdLove or 36C with VS, and typically a 12-14 in dresses or 31 in denim. While the waist and hips were fine, the bust was too small and the shoulders sat a little too high. If the XL were available, I would have rented in a heartbeat to replace.

I have to preface my comment by saying that even at my smallest (size 6/8), I never go bodycon or figure-hugging with my clothes. If you prefer something figure-hugging and you're between sizes, I recommend choosing the smaller (and trying in-store!). I personally chose the larger of the two sizes, as is my habit. This dress made me feel absolutely beautiful, and flattered my figure in a way I rarely find with my clothing nowadays. A year ago, I badly injured one of my ankles and mobility was a huge issue for the majority of last year. But a working girl's gotta keep working and looking the part, hence my gratitude for RTR. When I rented this dress, I was heartened by the designer's diversity in sizes and when I received it - OMG! So lovely. I chose to wear it to the office ahead of a celebratory dinner I was attending later that evening and I received compliments from everyone. Even after a hearty French meal, the dress still kept me feeling great. Will definitely keep for a while and wear again and again.

I originally rented this piece in November and am JUST NOW parting with it (end of March). Listen to the reviews! While the outer shell of the dress is gorgeous and drapes in a looser, more flattering manner, the inner sheath is disproportionately straight and restrictive. If you have curvy hips or thighs, the inner lining WILL bunch up on you and disrupt the overall drape of the dress. I was able to get away with it, but it required constantly readjustment.
