Cute but way too fussy; not worth it
I'm a solid size 14 and the L was the right fit for sure - but the straps were wayyyyy too long - including the decorative stripey one. I used a temp stitch gun to secure them to my bra straps but then the extra stuck out at the back, so I had to wear a jacket over my shoulders to hide it. Which meant I couldn't really show off the fit of the dress. And then it's a heavier material so it slipped down in front a lot and starting showing the top of my bra cups. I just felt I was fiddling with it *constantly* and it wasn't worth the hassle. I don't think the M would have been better, maybe a closer fit but probably tight, and I suspect it's a ratio thing of straps to dress fit, and I would've had similar issues. Too bad, because it's cute in theory!

Looks cute, will chafe
I don't know how designers haven't figured out to stop sewing on the sequins before reaching the absolute seam of a garment to avoid chafing. This vest is super cute, looked great with the pants, and I got lots of compliments. I also had chafing under my arms and at my neck and it drove me bonkers. I even tried putting tape over the armpits to see if would help but it wouldn't stick. Glad I got it, wouldn't rent again now that I know. I'm typically a L in tops, and this fit a bit oversized but in a comfy stylish way, not an it's-too-big-for-me way. I know some folks might wear a top underneath and I did have on a tank, but it did nothing for the chafing, and a sleeved shirt would've ruined the look.

The pants are fab!
I'm a pretty solid 14 especially in designer brands, but the 12 fit just fine (I've been in between 12-14 lately in most mainstream brands). These pants are comfy! I'm 5'9" and wore a 3" heel and they fell just right for what I was looking for. They are lined and while they weren't hot I wouldn't recommend in super warm weather. Looked cute with the vest too (but the vest chafed under my arms!)

Not worth the hassle
The 14 fit more comfortably but moments before I walked out the door, the button popped off - it wasn't a fit issue, it was poorly sewn-on. And it didn't hold the jacket together, but it was flapping in the wind. Not having time to sew it back on, I switched to the 12, which fit fine if I didn't ever need to move and wanted to risk my belly being exposed randomly. I was annoyed and felt so uncomfortable I ended up leaving my event early. Also, single ladies, heads-up that this zips all the way up the back and I have double-jointed shoulders and still struggled with it. Have a friend on call to help! Also, the strap is adjustable, which is great, but it's a honking big buckle so if you shorten it too much, it shows at the top of your collarbone and is not a very streamlined look. In the end - especially since the matching pants aren't available on RTR (I went with plain black pants) I wouldn't bother with this one. Cool in theory, a pain in the a** in execution.

Someone find me an event to wear this to!
I *loved* this and it felt great on, comfy, no scratchiness. Could wear a regular bra without stressing about it. Only complaint is that the R was shorter than I would've liked - with heels it looked like the pants were too short. It wasn't the right vibe for my event, but I wish I had something to wear it to! Felt great in it. I wear a size 14 and this fit exactly, so going up one size worked for me - I carry most of my weight in my belly/midsection.

Comfortable fit, easy to wear and accessorize, just not what I was looking for
Fit comfy, felt great on, like the pattern and colors, but ultimately it wasn't as dressy/cool as what my event was. I was having a heckuva time finding a dress though, and this was my backup until I found one the night before the event. I would've been fine in this, just didn't feel quite special enough for the event. But would rent for another event for sure!

Cute but not right for my event; also scratch sequins!
Fit pretty true to size, as a size 14 who carries extra weight in my belly/midsection. Like it on, but ultimately wasn't the right vibe for my event. Also, the sequins under my arm were definitely gonna be scratchy... Had enough support that I probably would've worn without a bra, but not done a lot of forward-bending/crazy motion in it.

Great looking dress, not true to size around midsection
I wear a 12/14, which means in higher-end dresses like at RTR, I'd pick the larger size to start. But the 14 was still too tight around the midsection, and while overall the dress had some stretch, it didn't at the waist. If you're a true size 14 in "normal" clothes and you carry your weight in your belly, this might be a tough fit for you.

So many compliments!!
My colleagues and I all agreed to wear blue (the color of our theater's logo) for our black tie 35th Anniversary Gala. I opted for this navy sequined gown because I can't resist shiny and sparkly. I felt great in the gown and was able to move easily all night long, which was very important. I got SO many compliments! Guests stopped me over and over to tell me how great I looked, how fantastic the dress was, and how, when I spoke on the stage, the light hitting me made for a wonderful light-reflecting effect. I wore the long option and had only slight kitten-heels, which was perfect for having the hemline hit the ground without pooling (in my selfie shot, I'm back at home after the event, and had kicked my heels off by then!). The only slight drawback was that the length meant I had to hold up my "train" when I danced. So for hosting, walking around, speaking in public, and then walking around again and meeting and greeting, it was ideal! If I'd planned on more dancing, I might've opted for a higher heel or the shorter option. But the material looks great on, and is so comfortable and flexible that I didn't feel at all restricted. The sequins under my arms didn't bother me a bit (I'd been worried they would). I still have people remember my dress when they talk to me months later. Loved it!

Felt great in the dress!
Even though most guests wore the typical outdoor wedding dresses - maxi - I felt great in this vintage-y cute dress. The material is sturdy and the shaping holds you in - even if it also pushes "the girls" a bit high and they risk falling out... Loved the colors and pattern and style. Would have preferred to wear high heels so the hemline was more flattering, but with an outdoor wedding on grass, I went for flats for practicality. As other reviewers have said, this isn't for a busty girl - both because it fits tight and it pushes 'em up and out. It took some consistent wrangling to keep them in line, but I didn't mind too much. Skirt was fun to dance in - stayed full-looking all night and twirled delightfully. Glad I got it!

Bit of a dud
I picked this out spur of the moment for the opening night celebration of our play. Unfortunately, it was a dud for me. The dress, as other reviewers described, fits tight across the chest, even while fitting fine elsewhere. It also has a bizarre cut to the cap sleeves, such that that pesky arm fat that every normal woman has hangs out in clear view! After multiple tank top layering attempts, I gave up. I appreciated that the material is not actual sewn-on sequins, so I was less worried about the dress scratching my exposed skin - but sadly that made the material look a bit cheap. Overall, the dress was too short, too tight, and too cheap-looking for my event, and I just couldn't compare it with a dress I'd picked up at Target that morning. So it went back unworn.

Cute dress, but definitely not for all seasons!
I ordered this as my backup dress, and ended up wearing my first choice. This dress is charming, but is a softer cotton than I expected - so arrived a bit wrinkly (understandable) and has NO LINING. I don't mind so much, except I was considering it for a November event in New England, and was worried about tights/hose causing static cling issues, as well as general thickness of the material. Also, because of the material, it didn't feel as appropriate for a black-tie optional event as I'd hoped (which is what I ordered it for). I realized I had another event a few days later that this might work for, but couldn't extend my rental. If I'd been allowed to extend to 8 days, I probably would've worn it because it's cute, fits great, and especially once I'd pressed it, would fall nicely and look sharp. But I was planning on putting a slip underneath, as well as tights - and once I found out I'd have to go through the process of re-renting it, I decided it wasn't worth the extra effort. Will keep an eye out for a spring/summer event though!

Tons of compliments at the gala!
Wore to a black-tie optional gala, fit right in among the under- and overdressed. Threw a cute black jacket over top for keeping warm. Lots of compliments. It's definitely poofy - the tulle underneath is stiff - and that felt weird at first, but it didn't look strange, and it was still easy to sit in. I wore hose/tights because of weather; otherwise would've felt a bit short I think, especially sitting. Moved great for dancing! Size-wise, I could've been in the 10 with extra layers of Spanx and keeping my abs tucked in, but was perfectly comfortable in the 12 without bagginess. Since I'm typically in between those sizes, I'd say it runs true to size. Also, upon looking at this photo as I write the review, I see that there's a belt, and while I did notice belt loops, I did not receive a belt with either size. With my jacket on, it was noticeable.
