I rented this dress for a 1960s/jet age-themed work gala. I paired it with a small beehive updo and vintage-inspired earrings, also from RTR. Perfection! My look was a great combination of modern and classic, and I got lots of compliments all night long. One woman told me she had searched in vain for a cape dress for herself, and this was just the thing. I normally wear a 16 dress size, although my wide hips push me into an 18 on occasion, and this dress was ever-so-slightly larger than a typical 16. It was a great fit, though, and never felt too tight or unflattering. (I do have a pot belly, which shows in this photo only because I didn't have any support garments on yet!) The fabric felt substantial and high-quality, but not too heavy. Most of the people I talked to assumed it was very expensive. They were so shocked when I revealed that I had rented it for under $50! Wearing this dress made me feel glamorous and timeless and very put together. I'm certain I would try to buy it for keeps, if only I had more occasions in life that warranted a cape dress.

I rented these for a 60's/jet age-themed work gala. Perfect! Big, glittery, and with that starburst shape that's plucked right out of the Sterling Cooper era. Despite their size, they were EXTREMELY comfortable. I hate to send them back!

I usually wear a 16 in things that fit at the waist, and an 18 in things that fit at the hip. The relaxed fit on this one made a 16 perfect all over. I rented this for a friend's wedding, and I had a few misgivings. The wedding was a day before Halloween - would a dark dress with a cape look too costumey? Would I look like a witch? Hardly. I felt like a 1960s air hostess! But in the sexy-and-timeless way, not the costume way. The cape is so elegant, so unexpected, and such a conversation piece. I got a lot of compliments and questions about the dress. My husband ended the day by saying, "We have GOT to buy you more things with capes. You look phenomenal." Doesn't get much better than that! I can't wait for another special event so I can rent the ivory or red versions of this stunner.
