This dress likes to bunch up in awkward places.

This dress was my first "miss" on Rent the Runway after a couple of years of renting. I rented it for a semi-formal wedding reception. The dress looked awesome in person, and I liked the fabric and pattern. "Scuba sheath" sums it up--it felt like wetsuit material, which I thought was pretty unique and fun. I was excited that I wouldn't have to wear a strapless bra, either. When I put it on, however...oh boy. I learned quickly that my stride would be reduced to what I could only describe as small, penguin-like steps (the bottom of the dress had very little give). I was willing to make that concession. As soon as I took my first little penguin steps, however, the dress started moving all over the place. I should point out, I'm an athletic build--small chested, flat stomach, somewhat muscley legs. This dress started to bunch up because of the seams at the hip/waist area (zoom in on the stock pic of the dress, and you can see where the seams are). I realized I'd be spending the whole night tip-toeing and pulling this dress down. No bueno. Maybe it's the fact that my thigh muscles have a greater circumference than my waist. Maybe it's the material. Maybe it's the placement of the seams. I'm not the girliest girl, and I was not going to resort to some drastic measures to make it work. I didn't wear it. :( In short: if you're planning to just stand there and look pretty, this dress will be just fine. If you're a mover and a shaker, move and shake your way to a different style. The silver lining: This dress did run true to size, but I like having the backup size just in case. RTR didn't have a backup size available, so I ordered a backup style--which worked out perfectly and I absolutely adored it (the Nicole Miller Such a Duchess dress).

Really comfortable and flattering!

My husband actually picked this dress out for me. :) I was looking at a page of similar styles and many colors, and this stood out to him when I asked for his vote. I never would have selected this color, but what I like about this site is that it encourages me to try something new. I ordered the XS and S, but the S was gappy in the front and through the shoulders of the dress, so XS it was (and it fit just fine). The dress is quite stretchy. The zipper is a little funky, in that you have to reach up between the outside material and the lining to get at it; other than that, a perfect dress. I got a lot of compliments on it; I wore my hair curled and up and accented the dress with silver/white gold jewelry and silver, strappy heels. It looks great with a tan! You definitely should wear a strapless bra--I had seen in some comments that people had worn bras with straps, but I don't see how that's possible without them peeking through the back or through the lace across the shoulders. The dress is comfortable to sit and dance in. I really enjoyed this rental. :)

This dress has just the right amount of sparkle! I received many compliments. :)

I ride and train horses, so I have pretty developed thigh muscles (my thighs are wider than my waist!). I also have relatively wide shoulders for my size. That being said, I couldn't wear a size 0 because I couldn't get the dress past my muscle-thighs or big shoulders, so I opted for the 2. There is no stretch to the dress, and the zipper is quite difficult, so I had to size up. Thanks for allowing users to get a backup size! I'm thinking this is more of a problem exclusive to people who are on the "musclebound/athletic" side of body types. The dress ended up a little loose in my waist and bust as a result, so I had to tape it to hold it up and wear a pretty padded strapless bra (the 0 would have worked better for me in these areas). My husband, my zIpper-upper, was not thrilled that there was no hook and eye at the top to assist in the zipping process. Even though the dress wasn't super-tight, the zipper was a bit ornery. Once I was actually in it and it was secured in place, the dress was awesome and comfy. I am not typically one to gravitate toward red dresses, but it was a fun way to deviate from the typical little black dress without being too over-the-top. It paired well with black accessories (black headband, necklace, black and silver bracelet, black shoes).

Renting from RTR is so easy--the holiday party is an annual event, and this dress was my second time renting for it. I'll be renting another dress this year!

I rented this dress for a holiday party I attended with my husband. I was trying to get away from the typical black dress. It ended up being slightly lighter than I expected between the black stripes (ie., in the pictures it looked like a beige color in between the stripes, but it was actually a silvery color in person), but it still looked great to me! It was a different style from what I usually go for--I'm not much of a pattern or stripe person--but something about it really caught my eye. The only issue I had is that I have a lot of muscle through my back and shoulders, so I almost had to size up for that. I'm thin and don't have much in the way of curves, so it fit great everywhere else!

This dress was the hit of the holiday party I just attended. It was comfortable to wear, although it was a *little* less fitted than I expected (I wore an XS, and it felt a little loose, esp. in the hip area). I did not have an issue with my strapless bra or underwear showing through the material; although the material is a little thin, the sequins do a good job of covering everything, esp. with the sparkle created by flash photography. I did have to periodically check that the top of my strapless bra was not poking out the top on the non-strap side of the dress; I have a small bust, so that might have been part of the problem. Overall, I loved the dress--it was my first rental from here, and I'd rent again.
