I wore this to my husband’s holiday party. Especially lovely for an office-type holiday festivity worn by an over-40 woman: a modest neckline, a "party" back (but still above the bra line), hemline not too short to meet the Chairman of the Board, cap sleeves to cover the pasty-white shoulders, a beautiful and unusual fabric to grab people’s attention, and enough style details in the construction to make a simple shape a very fashionable dress. SIZING: 8 was tight – I wore serious Spanx. But tight is the fashion now, right? (Hubs and HR swore it was okay, and it wasn’t inappropriate.) It's TRUE TO SIZE for small-sized brands. If you usually wear brands that serve my age-range and seem noticeably larger, this dress will run SMALL TO SIZE. Go up a #. Fabric moved with me well. I have a long torso, and the waist hit the right spot (and then curved around my butt nicely). ACCESSORIES: I wore a pair of vintage silver earrings which mirrored the colors of silver, cream and white in the paisleys of the fabric. Silver bracelets and bone shoes with a pair of light sheer hose (dead of winter and I didn’t spray tan!). Didn’t choose a necklace because everything seemed to detract from the design. OTHER TIPS: The fabric DID NOT WRINKLE. Arrived ready to wear, and I took photos at the END of the night. This dress would be appropriate a warmer month though I wouldn’t want to have to wear that much Spanx in the summer! Overall, I felt classy, confident and sexy in this dress. And my husband was quite proud of his arm candy. Definitely the right dress for the right occasion! Thank you RTR!!

My first choice for my event was too big, and at the last minute, RTR saved the day and sent me this as a replacement. Unfortunately, it bunched too much in the waist and was a bit too tight in the hips (for my personal comfort). Overall a bad fit, and the fabric looked and felt cheap on me. have no doubt that this dress will look cute and festive on the right body, but mine certainly wasn't it. I wore this dress to the alumni parade and picnic luncheon at my 25th high school reunion in June. It was incredibly comfortable, appropriate in length, and the embroidery detail was downright lovely! The color was amazing, and I felt stylishly confident yet still casual and fun in this. At the time I wore this dress, I was about 135 lbs, so I went with the 6, and it fit perfectly. The 8 was fine but a little loose, and I wanted to show off my figure. Wish I had this one in my personal closet! It was a keeper!!!

I fell in love with this dress on the site, but there was only one size left that had a chance of fitting me. Not knowing my exact size due to a recent weight loss, I went ahead and grabbed it after chatting with a stylist. I was still in love with the dress when it arrived, but the UK 14 was HUGE on me. I could probably have gone down one or two sizes to find the right fit, but it was sold out for my event date. So, it's still on my favorites... and I look forward to renting it for a future occasion.

My teenage daughters have both rented from RTR, but this was MY first Cinderella moment! Having gained 20 pounds in the past year, I had nothing to wear for my daughter's formal awards show. Three sizes bigger in every direction, I was very concerned about fit and shape, and about looking elegant and beautiful but also appropriately like a mother. This Halston Heritage gown did the trick! It was very comfortable and the right fabric for sitting for 3+ hours. The neckline was attractive but not too daring, the drape was perfect, and skirt flowed beautifully. I got to show a little cleavage with being covered up in all the right places, and I LOVED the navy blue color. My daughters and husband were proud. (Note that Parker, my daughter in the middle in red, wore RTR too!) Tips: I'm 5'9" and wore 3" heels, and the long was to the ground. Felt like I was tripping on it sometimes but I wouldn't have gone with the shorter. The size 12 fit almost exactly the same as the 14 but was blousier up top, so I went with the more fitted 14. Also, I neglected to use the fabric tape and should have. Since we were sitting all night, the surplice neckline kept opening up and exposing my bra. Could have easily been fixed with a little tape to keep it in place. I also rented the bangle bracelets - divided the set up on two arms. Very nice touch, glitz but not too flashy. Glad that they perfectly matched earrings I already had at home.
