There is no give in this dress, so make sure to get a back up size. I did not and was able to squeeze into but tight at the waist with my athletic waistline. I loved the design and got a lot of compliments on it. It was a for an award I won at my alma mater of Central Michigan University and the colors were Maroon and Gold so this dress was perfect color to represent my University.

Appropriate length, color, style for a cocktail work event with the open back for a hint of sexiness. Fit was excellent and dress stayed put over stockings so I wasn't pulling it down the whole night. Loved it! 

Loved this dress! The length and the sleeves balanced out the open back making this perfect for a work holiday party. Dress fit like a glove and was a bit difficult to zip, but once I was in I loved it! 

This dress was tight! I ordered the 42 and 44 and definitely went with the 44. I almost wish I had ordered an even bigger size, as personally, I prefer clothes to be somewhat fitted but not skin tight, especially for a wedding. I do think this dress needs to be retired soon. It's been around the block and back! There were some rogue threads unraveling on the sleeves that I had to trim and holes in the lace (although it sort of blended in, so wasn't too noticeable). The black under slip fell below the front hem of the lace so I had to pin that up so it wouldn't keep showing.  Overall, I got compliments on the dress but after a long night in it, I was looking forward to taking it off. I have a smaller chest, so went sans bra and it was not a problem! Definitely a plus there.

Dress is a bit snug with no give but very sexxxy! Got compliments all night. My only complaint is the black belt-like material around waist is somewhat uncomfortable as it digs into your skin. I would rent this for a dinner, without much movement (definitely not meant for a night of dancing). 

I received so many compliments on this dress. It fit my body perfectly. Do not pass up this dress! I wore to a fall wedding, and could not have asked for a better dress. The cut out back made this dress unique; another reason I loved it. The color and length are perfect.

I usually wear a 6 (42) but they were out for the weekend, so I took a risk and got the 4 (40) and an 8 (44). There is not much stretch in this dress so while the 4 fit my waist, it wouldn't go over my hips, so I ended up wearing the 8 and it worked out just fine. There was a hole in the arm of the lace, but it was on the inside and not noticeable enough for me to scramble to find a new dress. Additionally, be careful of your hairdo with this dress, you have to pull the neck-hole of this dress over your head (no zipper) and it's rather tight. It'd be fine if you're wearing your hair down, but with an updo, it was a little more challenging. Overall the dress was beautiful and I felt very confident wearing it. My girlfriend in the picture used RTR too! 

I was looking for a lace dress for a friend's wedding, and this worked out perfectly. I ended up with a size larger (6) than usual (4), due to availability, but it still fit well. The dress is a good length, the body and arms didn't feel too tight, and the open back adds a sexy look to the elegant lace style. 

Beautiful dress. I wore it to a winter wedding and got many compliments. It runs true to size. Very fitted though. I thought it would be long on me since I am short but it was a nice length above the knee. 

It was a little frayed, but no one could see.  I felt fantastic in the dress.  What a great deal for such a classy and expensive look.

This dress is very well made and the color/lace combination was perfect. 
I loved the open back on this dress and received several compliments on it. I wore this to a business school winter formal, and felt that the rest of the dress was just a little bit too conservative, mostly because of the length. 

I wore this dress for two different events in one weekend. The first night I dressed it up for a dinner at a high end restaurant down down, and the next dressed down with booties and thigh highs for a dear friends bridal shower. This is a nice versatile dress that will make people take a second look with the show stopping back.


The fit was amazing! Though I think the dresses were in the wrong bags, I tried them on and the 4 was right for me. The length was perfect and was a beautiful color. Dancing was a bit tough with not being able to move my arms that well but overall a great and beautiful dress!


RTR did not have the 38 available for me, so they just sent the 40, but that probably worked out for the best. It seemed a bit small, it worked well but I think the 38 would've been too small. I really loved the look of the dress on me though.

LOVED this dress for a fall wedding. The sleeves don't have any stretch so makes sense to size up if you have broad shoulders like me. Otherwise the dress was very comfortable and photographed beautifully. The open back gives it a bit of interest too. Definitely recommend!

Like others I was worried 1. that it would look to old/conservative and 2. The sleeves would be tight, as I don't have the smallest arms. It turned out that neither ended up being an issue at all. I ordered the 44 and the 46, both fit, but I went with the bigger one so I could eat and dance and still be comfortable all night. It was a great color for a late fall wedding, and the sleeves kept me warm at the outdoor ceremony. The back keeps the dress from being old or frumpy. I felt it was a good balance between sexy and modest, as the longer length made up for the extra skin showing in the back. I wore a sticky bra with it just for some support, but I bet you could go without. The one thing I didn't consider when ordering was the tan lines left over on my back from my bathing suit in the summer. The cutout essentially framed that white stripe, but some self tanner saved the day. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars was the zipper in both dresses was almost impossible to get on and off... I seriously spent almost 30 mins attempting to zip the dress up. I ended up needing help to remove the dress as well. I think they have just been well worn, and the lace makes it difficult for the zipper to slide easily. Just something to think about. 

I would have given this dress 5 stars if it weren't for how frustrating the zipper was! It was nearly impossible to zip because of the black strip of fabric that goes around the dress at the hips. The sleeves were also a bit short for me, but I'm lanky. Otherwise, I absolutely adored the dress and received a ton of compliments. I wore sans bra, but if you want to wear one, you'll need to plan ahead and buy cups!

I wore this for a family wedding, and the length was perfect, it felt very comfortable and appropriate, yet the back gave the dress a little pop of fun! The 42 wasn't available for the weekend, so I ordered down and up and hoped for the best. I have an athletic build, and I couldn't zip the 40 by the seam at the waistline, but the 44 ended up working out perfectly as I had room to eat, sit, move and dance all night (it wasn't loose by any means). The color was more of a plum purple than a brown which the photos appear to be. I highly recommend this dress, the lace was absolutely gorgeous, perfect length, pretty color, and fun backless cut out. The shoes that I bought cost more than the rental!  Pair it was a string of pearls. 

This dress was amazing, it runs true to size and I loved the fit and color.  The open back makes this dress even more unique (I wore it with a backless bra and worked out well) and the lace really makes it standout. I liked the fact that it had sleeves and that it wasn't too short.  It was made very nice and I def didn't want to send it back.  Would def recommend. 

I'm typically a 0, so I ordered the 0 and 2 (38 and 40) - I went with the 38. I was nervous when it came to renting because nothing ever fits me right, but the dress fit perfect. With that said, it is very hard to zip up once you get to the top. I considered wearing the 40 because of that, but when I put it on, I had a hard time zipping that one as well (and it was baggy on me). Once I got the dress on, it was smooth sailing! I couldn't even tell you the amount of people who complimented me on the dress. I even had husbands coming up to me saying how beautiful it was. I became known by the entire wedding as the girl who rented their dress. I had a GREAT first experience with RTR, and recommended it to all who approached me. 

This dress was very comfortable and the color is perfect for fall. I loved the sleeves and also the open back detail. It kind of smooshed my chest and that is probably the only negative thing I will say about the dress, but besides that I received a lot of compliments and it was very comfortable for dancing all night!

Seriously, my husband had to use his pliers to get this zipper up.  It's THAT tricky. It just does not want to go past the belt part of the waist.  Otherwise thought his dress is great!  It was comfortable (but the neck hole is a little small so if you're wearing your hair up like I did, put the dress on before you do your hair!) and elegant. I got a ton of compliments. This particular dress had a few snags and pulls on the lace, but I think that's to be expected--it's a delicate material.  

I'm not sure I'd rent it again due to the very frustrating zipper, but it did look really good.  And I love RtR!

This dress was amazing and fit like a glove. I'm 5'7 and it fit right above my knee. I usually wear a size 4 in pants and a 2 in dresses. I not have to wear a bra. The color of the dress is not as burnt maroon as in the pictures online, but more of a purple maroon. It is a beautiful dress and open back gives it an extra wow statement. Everyone kept asking me where I purchased it, I let them in on rent the runway !! 


There is no doubt this dress isn't stunning-I got loads of compliments and people asking if I took it from Kate Middleton's closet. But, as other reviewers have said, it does fit small. I would have probably worn the 42 if it was available for the rental period. The bottom portion of the dress was  great and I was actually able to dance! The tight part is the waist band that hit right on my ribs. It has no give in the fabric. The top fits well, I wore a backless bra that had no problem staying in place. You could probably not wear a bra but I was worried a flash from a camera would expose a little too much. The shoulder area was slightly tight as well-my "YMCA" at the wedding was a little sad because it was hard to raise my arms! 

All in all, I would love to wear the dress again , and hope I could get both sizes!

Perfect dress for a fall wedding. It was comfortable, fit true to size and came to me in great condition. Loved the color and the back cutout. 

Beautiful and sexy dress. It came to me with a few holes and looked like it was worn down a bit but the dress looked amazing on and was perfect for my outdoor/indoor fall wedding.

This was my first RTR experience. Everything went so smooth, I will absolutely be renting again. This dress felt amazing to wear. Compliments all night. I am 5'1 so the dress hit my knees but looked great with black booties. Great for a fall wedding. Love the open back. It is definitely form fitting, so good to size up. 

This is probably one of my favorite dresses that I've rented from RTR. I wore a 42/size 4, which is the size I normally wear, and it fit me like a glove! It showed off the perfect amount of skin for my friend's birthday. The color and style was perfect was for fall, too. I definitely wanted to keep this dress for myself! If you're in between sizes, I would recommend sizing up for your backup as the dress doesn't stretch a lot.

The dress as a whole fit great, but the black band around the middle was pretty tight. It was slightly uncomfortable but that's really my only complaint. The color is beautiful in person and I would rent it again.

I had avoided this dress for a long time, scared it was too dark or demure for my style. Boy, was I wrong! When I visited the Georgetown store for the first time, I got to see my first choice dress--which didn't work out at all. This dress was available, and with much doubt and skepticism, I tried it.

Woo, the moment I first walked out, I got complements everywhere. This dress does fit snug, like a glove, but it can make you work what you got. The contrast between the long sleeves and the open back really makes this dress work. I knew I could wear it to a conservative garden wedding, but still have a lot of fun with my closest friends who were getting married.

The one thing to watch out for, is that you've really got to plan out your bra situation! I just ended up going sans bra because I didn't have much of a choice out of town. Still works, but I probably could've found a better solution if I had the time.

I wore this to a friend's rehearsal dinner for a NYE wedding and it was so great! I loved the open back which made for a classy and sexy look! Would definitely rent again for a colder season! 

This dress was by far the best choice. It was a beautiful deep red color, similar to a Merlot, that for great! I highly recommend it, especially if you love lace!

Perfect for a chilly night out on a date, and still sexy.  Fit like a glove. 

First RTR experience — loved this dress and the whole process. The dress is pretty structured — no stretch at all — so I wore the bigger of the two I ordered. Once I carefully got it on, it was fairly comfortable. Didn't need a bra. Probably not perfect for dancing the night away (semi-stiff lace sleeves), but was really nice for a work party/event. I also didn't sit down much in it, so it may not be SUPER comfortable for that either, but I'm not sure. The lace and material seemed to be great quality and the color is a really pretty burgundy (hard to see much detail in my mediocre pic) — good alternative to all the black I usually wear. The zipper was tricky at first as many have mentioned, but on the day of the event, it zipped just fine. The back is beautiful. Very elegant/classy choice — definitely recommend!

LOVED the dress! I wore it to my fire dept. installation dinner last night, and I was receiving compliments all night. It definitely made me feel beautiful wearing this dress. It is classy and sexy at the same time. My usual size ended up being too small and tight on me, so I recommend going up a size for comfort. My zipper was stuck half-way up, but it didn't move, or look like it was stuck(thankfully). If I had the $1300 I would buy this dress in a heart beat. I will definitely be renting again, and wearing this dress again :)

Beautiful dress, lots of compliments! The open back is lovely. I ended up wearing the larger backup size, and even then after eating I felt like the dress was strangling me. Definitely size up! 

I love this dress! Did not want to give it back.  The back have this dress a little bit of sexiness that was perfect.  Length was great for me, as I'm 5'10, came right above the knees. I would rent this dress again!

The fit was perfect and the deep purple color was stunning. Lots of compliments. Definitely get the recommended bra.  The long sleeves were great for a fall wedding. 

I bought the dress with only having a size 8. I go back and forth between 8 and 10 so I was a little nervous if the 8 would fit. It fit PERFECTLY. I'm a size 34DDD so I was nervous about the bust part but the bust was actually almost loose on me. I ended up being able to wear a strapless bra and just having the back of my bra be lower than where the open back ended. The dark color is a beautiful wine color and makes you look thin! I loved the long sleeve lace and the length went to about my knees which I thought was modest enough for my bridal shower. My favorite of course was the back that added a little fun to the dress. If your big chested like myself I recommend trying to do the strapless bra technique like I did because we all know those nubras do not work for us
