I had avoided this dress for a long time, scared it was too dark or demure for my style. Boy, was I wrong! When I visited the Georgetown store for the first time, I got to see my first choice dress--which didn't work out at all. This dress was available, and with much doubt and skepticism, I tried it. Woo, the moment I first walked out, I got complements everywhere. This dress does fit snug, like a glove, but it can make you work what you got. The contrast between the long sleeves and the open back really makes this dress work. I knew I could wear it to a conservative garden wedding, but still have a lot of fun with my closest friends who were getting married. The one thing to watch out for, is that you've really got to plan out your bra situation! I just ended up going sans bra because I didn't have much of a choice out of town. Still works, but I probably could've found a better solution if I had the time.

I wore this to a friend's rehearsal dinner for a NYE wedding and it was so great! I loved the open back which made for a classy and sexy look! Would definitely rent again for a colder season!

This dress was by far the best choice. It was a beautiful deep red color, similar to a Merlot, that for great! I highly recommend it, especially if you love lace!

First RTR experience — loved this dress and the whole process. The dress is pretty structured — no stretch at all — so I wore the bigger of the two I ordered. Once I carefully got it on, it was fairly comfortable. Didn't need a bra. Probably not perfect for dancing the night away (semi-stiff lace sleeves), but was really nice for a work party/event. I also didn't sit down much in it, so it may not be SUPER comfortable for that either, but I'm not sure. The lace and material seemed to be great quality and the color is a really pretty burgundy (hard to see much detail in my mediocre pic) — good alternative to all the black I usually wear. The zipper was tricky at first as many have mentioned, but on the day of the event, it zipped just fine. The back is beautiful. Very elegant/classy choice — definitely recommend!

LOVED the dress! I wore it to my fire dept. installation dinner last night, and I was receiving compliments all night. It definitely made me feel beautiful wearing this dress. It is classy and sexy at the same time. My usual size ended up being too small and tight on me, so I recommend going up a size for comfort. My zipper was stuck half-way up, but it didn't move, or look like it was stuck(thankfully). If I had the $1300 I would buy this dress in a heart beat. I will definitely be renting again, and wearing this dress again :)

This dress definitely ran a little small. The 40 fit me perfectly. The back is absolutely beautiful, but the dress is still classy. The zipper was extremely difficult to zip towards the top because of the black band in the middle of the dress. The lace detail was beautiful and I would rent again!

I am a pretty consistent size 2 and the 42 fit perfectly. I wore this to a February wedding in Texas which could have been freezing but ended up being 78 degrees.....this dress would have worked great for either. I loved the open back and had a great time wearing it. The color is so rich and gorgeous!

I am normally a 4 and so happy I ordered the 4 and 6. I ended up wearing the 6 because the 4 was too tight.

This is a classic, simple dress with a complimentary silhouette for every figure. The deep plum/garnet color is rich but not over the top. The fit and style reminds me of what Kate Middleton would wear - something fit for a public appearance and not too revealing. It's "covered up sexy" because of the intricate lace sleeves and peekaboo back. I wore it for Valentine's Day for dinner with my husband and some close friends at a recognized Chicago restaurant. Loved this dress!

Fit true to size based on other reviews I had read. Zipper was hard to get up sometimes but not impossible. Wore a bra that adhered on the side so that nothing showed in back. Dress is a stiffer material but was still able to dance the night away.

Overall, the dress was very comfortable and was long enough even though I am fairly tall. The cutout in the back was a nice touch to make the dress a little more special. I originally rented this dress for NYE, but due to a change in plans ended up wearing this for a date night.

I was sort of in-between sizes and had RTR overnight me the 40. The 42 had a little extra fabric in the lower back area, however the 40 was damaged upon arrival so went with the 42 anyway. As long as I kept it pulled down throughout the night it fit great. The open back keeps it interesting without being too flashy, and I loved the color and the sleeves. Tall girls rejoice!! I'm 5'9 and it hit just above my knee. Perfect for my work function. Would totally rent again!

I am short so this dress fell to about my knee and it was a slim/tight fit. I loved the way it felt and looked and the open back was a great touch. The only thing I would say is the open back sometimes made it hard to move my arms. Other than that this dress was a '10' in my book for winter weddings.

I loved this dress however I was in between sizes. Usually the smallest size available is what fits me but the 0 (or 38) was way too tight and the 2 (40) fit a little large/long. I was hoping for a shorter not knee length which the 0 provided but the 2 was large in the chest area (maybe because I don't have anything to fill it!) I did use a a stick on-claspable bra that helped, but it wasn't enough. Also, this dress has to go over your head so if you are getting your hair done, keep that in mind. No problem for me, but I didn't recall anyone else mentioning that. I paired the dress with the suggested Nicole Miller earrings and it was the perfect amount of sparkle as i didn't want to wear a necklace. I loved the experience of renting and will definitely do it again! Always get the two sizes if you can!!

The fit was perfect. I'm taller, and it hit at just the right spot. I felt great in it, and it was easy to dance in, and comfortable to wear. I would definitely recommend this dress. I received so many compliments on it too!

It felt like it ran small since I expected to wear the 42 but ended up wearing the 44. I'm also very unfamiliar with this type of sizing. The biggest con is that you cannot wear a traditional bra with it, so if you're uncomfortable braless or wearing a silicon bra you may want to avoid this dress. Other than that, it's a sexy, but still tasteful, dress.

I usually wear between a 0 and 2, the 0 fit a little better for me, and provided some more body contouring. The dress fit really well, and the sleeves helped keep me a little warmer even into the night (good for fall). I wore a stick-on strapless bra, which was a little annoying cause I like to dance, and that kept feeling like it was falling, but it had nothing to do with the dress, so as long as you have a good backless bra, you'll be good. Also, the lace hides all underwear lines, so you don't have to worry about getting special underwear for that.

I suggest you wear a strapless bra, with a very low back strap. Or you need a backless bra. I have muscular shoulders, so that was only place where it felt tighter, but that is a typical issue for me. Overall I was so pleased with my rental, and planning to use this 5 more times this year, possibly more! I signed up for PRO, best way to go!

I did not realize I could have ordered two sizes, but using the details from other women it fit perfectly. You do need to buy the bra they recommend as the dress is a little too thin to go bra less. The dress is very fitted yet extremely comfortable. I might have worn the next size had I thought to order two. During one of the intermissions a woman did come over and asked me where I got my dress!!!! I happily shared the information. Lincoln Center, my family, and my dress made my night magical.

Like other reviews, the zipper was hard to zip over the black belt piece, but otherwise it fit really well. It is heavy so I would definitely rent it to wear during a colder season. It is a little long; it hit me right at the knees so it was a little hard to go up steps since it is slightly tighter fitting.

I am usually a size 6 but I ordered the 44 and 46, just to be on the safe side, and found that the 44 fit like a glove! I love the cut out on the back and the color is stunning. I'm 6 feet tall so I was concerned the dress and sleeves would be too short but that was not the case at all. The hemline fell a couple inches above my knees and the sleeves were a perfect length. Tall girls rejoice! I got countless compliments and felt so beautiful wearing it that I was sad to see it go in the UPS envelope.

This dress is gorgeous! I wore this for a wedding in October and it was perfect. Love the opening in the back. The lace is such a nice quality and with the black fabric under the plum it makes for a nice dimension. Also the length was perfect for a catholic wedding, I rented a dress originally that was too short and they overnighted me this one. Awesome customer service at RTR, I recommend them to everyone. I wore this for a wedding in October. It was perfect for the time of year. The lace was also elegant and the open back added a note of sexiness to the dress without being over the top. You cannot wear a bra with the dress because of the open back but I found it really comfortable and did not have any issues. I added Alexis Bittar jewelry which was the perfect touch!

I bought the dress with only having a size 8. I go back and forth between 8 and 10 so I was a little nervous if the 8 would fit. It fit PERFECTLY. I'm a size 34DDD so I was nervous about the bust part but the bust was actually almost loose on me. I ended up being able to wear a strapless bra and just having the back of my bra be lower than where the open back ended. The dark color is a beautiful wine color and makes you look thin! I loved the long sleeve lace and the length went to about my knees which I thought was modest enough for my bridal shower. My favorite of course was the back that added a little fun to the dress. If your big chested like myself I recommend trying to do the strapless bra technique like I did because we all know those nubras do not work for us

Wore this dress to winter formal. It wasn't the best dress for dancing in but it was comfortable. Overall, loved it and service was wonderful as usual.

I got so many positive comments about this dress! The 4 was slightly big but the 2 was very tight on me. I loved the back of the dress! ( all of us in the picture rented the dresses from RTR)

This dress is amazing. The detail is gorgeous. I ordered the 38, and it fit great. I ended up not being able to wear the dress to the wedding because there was a hole in the sleeve of the dress I was sent, and I was very disappointed. I called Rent the Runway, and they overnighted me a new style. Great customer service!
