The open back is gorgeous, and the dress provides enough coverage to bun and flirty without being too revealing. The back is too low to wear a bra with, but there is enough structure in the dress that I didnt feel like I needed one.

For my first RTR experience, it was a grand slam. The color is stunning. VERY slightly pink hue, which flatters all skin tones. I got so many compliments it was awesome! Very few women wore red to the event, so I definitely stood out (was known as "the lady in red" the whole night). The fit was great and the length was what I expected, thank god, being on the tall side. The back comes a little low where it'll show a bit of your back bra band. There's also really no way to hide bra straps with this dress. You'll need either a) strapless bra with a low back strap converter, b) backless bra/stick-on bra, or c) no bra. I believe from so much use and dry cleaning, the underlining is now longer than the lace at the hem. If that's an issue for you, use some dress tape to fold up the hem. It didn't bother me so I left it as-is. I did also wear Spanx underneath, but that's up to your discretion.

I can't wait for my next RTR experience!

Dress was amazing. I received several compliments. Wore it to my cousin's wedding. It well with a conservative crowd but allowed me show a little extra style with the keyhole back. 

I LOVED this dress! I wore a size 6 and it was pretty true to size.  I received so many compliments throughout the night and I was so sad to send it back! I would definitely rent this again.

Runs a little large. I usually wear a 2/4 but other reviews noted this being somewhat small; I found it to be true to large actually. Thick enough material that you don't need a bra. Sexy, but classy; got many compliments. 

You'll need a strapless bra for this beauty. But you'll look and feel fabulous! Pairs great with nude shoes.

soft, comfortable, beautifully fitted.  A little large in the chest for my cup size, but a nu bra filled things in nicely and kept the back of the dress open.   My only critique: I had to sit for an extended period of time at the event and the inner lining got some creases in it, mildly annoying, but it still looked great! 

 I love how it fit! The hooks on the back were stretched out, but I was able to work with it. Overall fit was flattering, and I received a ton of compliments from strangers. Size seemed to run small in the waist/ribcage, as I generally wear a 4.

First time renting from RTR.  Great experience.  Both sizes fit, but I chose the larger dress since the fabric wasn't stretchy.

I loved everything about this dress! The color is so beautiful and I loved the modest top for my bigger chest while having the open back. It was comfortable and the thicker fabric felt really supportive in the top and throughout the bodice. Monique luhllier can do no wrong! 

I received so many compliments. I couldn't wear a bra because the back was too open to hide the straps, but you couldn't tell that I didn't have one on. The dress was a little longer than I would have liked, but I'm 5'4, so genetics. ;) 

The dress is great!  So many compliments.  I wore my own red jacket over it to dress it down for the daytime event we attended.  The dress runs small.  Normally an 8, but required  the 10.  The neckline is not as firm as the picture.  Had to steam it to stop from flopping forward.  Comfortable.

Super easy to wear, great length. The only problem was that it was hard to find a bra that fit with the dress and didn't stick out. Everyone at the party I was at loved the dress!

I wore this dress to a holiday work dinner, and absolutely loved it. It fit well, but as others have said in reviews, you cannot wear a bra with it. I opted for a backless bra and it worked perfectly. I would definitely rent this dress again. 

Wore this to a winter wedding. It was excellent! 

I normally wear a size 2 so I opted to get a 2 and a 0 delivered to me.  The 0 was way too snug with a push-up bra (I need a little help from padding or else I look totally flat).  I tried on the size 2 and it was actually way tighter in the abdomen than the 0.  I could barely breathe, but the upper back was crazy loose.  Weird. So I went with the 0 with a strapless bra that had minimal padding.  It was still a little snug all night, but not horrible.  Got lots of compliments and I felt pretty in it.  

What color shoes would you recommend?  Black vs, neutral?

This is a gorgeous dress. I rented for a friend's fall wedding and it was perfect. Got tons of compliments. People told me I should wear it everyday, and that it was the best dress at the event (besides the bride of course!). The only minor complaint I had is that it bunches up when you walk, so I had to be sure to smooth out the wrinkles for pictures. I didn't want to return this one, and my fiance asked who made it so he could try to find it online to buy. Would recommend and rent again in a second. 

Loved that I didn't need a bra and the length was great for me (5'10"). I would absolutely rent this dress again. 

I'm 5'8" 160lbs with a big bum and bust, and a size 10 fit impeccably, really showing off my hourglass shape. I wore without a bra, and the dress supported my size D chest just fine. The boning on the front is slimming, and the lace window in the back is gorgeous. The color is red-pink more than it is red, but no one really made notice (my bf was wearing legitimate red). Loved it!

My sizes in dresses vary depending on the brand and can be anywhere from a 6 to a 10.  I'm glad I took the advice of others and went up to a 10 for the 2nd dress.  Who cares about the size as long as the dress fits well and looks good!

The dress was fabulous! The fit was great and the color was gorgeous.  There was one clasp missing from the back, but it was not noticeable.  I want to rent this in another color! :)

Rented this dress for my brother-in-laws wedding. It was a fall evening event in the Midwest. I was looking for something stylish but conservative enough to wear in church and around my in-laws and a color to compliment the navy blue tux my husband had to wear as part of the wedding party. This dress fit the bill and was beyond perfect. The fit was flattering and the color was extremely wearable. I don't wear a lot of red but the compliments I received on this dress might change my ways. The lace showed signs of wear in a few places, particularly the armpit area but none of it was visible to others. Helpful hint:  I used my hair straightener to flatten out the raw lace edges around the neckline, back opening, and sleeves.  This made all the difference in showing off that detail.

I got a lot of compliments on this dress, and another friend at the wedding had on the same dress in blue! I think it fits true to size. I ordered the 8 and the 10, and ended up wearing the 10 as I felt like I had a little bit more wiggle room. Comfortable to wear, and beautiful red color in person. The blue was very nice too! Definitely recommend.

  I wore this dress for my future daughter-in-law's Tea Shower. It was perfect for the event. I usually wear a 4, but it was a little tighter than I liked, so I went with the 6.  If you are unsure, I would go a size up.I wore a "sticky" bra, and that worked great. Some women may not even need a bra, there is good coverage and support. It seemed a little loose in the neckline, but was not an issue.
  This is my first Rent the Runway experience, and it was a success. I am renting a dress for the wedding, and I hope it works as well as this!

Elegant and classy, this dress is perfect for any formal affair. Like others, I love the red color and intricate lace details. The neck line is a little loose but otherwise this dress is 100% fabulous. 

The dress was definitely snug, but it was true to size. A beautiful dress - beautiful color and material. I received a ton of compliments, and I felt great in it all night. 

I absolutely love this dress. I wore it to my brother's wedding and I got a ton of compliments. The red color really pops and the lace detail and back are what make this dress. I felt very comfortable in it. I think it's conservative enough but still feels trendy and a little sexy. I wore the stick on bra and it worked with no issues. I probably wouldn't go braless. I was able to dance and move all night! 

I ordered two sizes and ended up sizing down. The red was gorgeous! Noticed that the color between two that I received were different. One was faded so I didn't wear that one. Must have been from all the cleanings.  Wish I could buy it. LOVED it!

The dress was gorgeous and I got a ton of compliments all night long!! I ended up wearing the six instead of the four because the lace on the back was a little snug on top (no give at all). I wore it for a friends' wedding and the dress was very elegant and classy.

I wore this to a wedding in July and it was nice and cool. If you're going to be for the fall/winter season I would say it's not that warm. Definitely a dress that can be worn day-to-night. 

The fit is true to size, was a bit tight around my chest/rib cage. But that didn't deter my from wearing it. Very easy to dance in 


This is a beautiful dress but I didn't end up wearing it.  It fit wonderfully, very true to size but I felt that I wouldn't be completely comfortable in it .  I love the open back and it's very sexy.  

This dress was amazing! I wore it to a wedding where I knew no one except my date. The grandmother of the bride kept sending people over to me to see it. So many compliments and I felt so comfortable in it. I wear a size D cup and didn't need to wear a bra (still perky in my late 20's). I wore nude Louboutin shoes (the reds matched very well) and gold jewelry. I had to get help putting it on but it was so worth it! I would absolutely rent this dress again and again.

I rented this for a wedding my husband was in, which happened to fall on our 1 year wedding anniversary weekend. This dress reminded me of my wedding dress with the lace, shoulder detail and the back cut-out so it was perfect for the occasion. I was nervous I'd need to wear spanx or a bra, but didn't need either because the dress hid everything! I used silicone stickies in place of a bra just in case, though. I'm 5'1" and it it right above my knees and was slimming through my hips. It didn't really have a stretchy material, but it wasn't constricting. The color was awesome! I thought it might've been a little bright, but in person, and pictures, it was a deep red-ish burgundy. I wish I owned this dress! Got a ton of compliments all night.

Had to use a stick on bra, which made it a little more difficult to wear, but pretty and bright color for a holiday party

Stunning dress that stands out. Super comfortable and lots of pretty detail accents.  

I'm 5'3" and 120 lbs. I usually wear a 4 and since most said this runs true to size I chose a 4. It fit perfectly.  I never wear red, but it looked great. I received so many compliments. Red is my new go to color.

Although the fabric bunches up a tad underneath, overall it lays nicely and fits true to size. The candy apple red color would be perfect for a red gala or something similar, but I loved the red and nude colored heels I wore for a spring March wedding. 

We hosted Christmas Day and I wore this sweet red number. The dress has more stretch than I expected but I still opted for the size 12 so I could be as comfortable as possible all day. I felt very festive and the dress was beautiful. My only complaint was the neckline looked a bit worn and out of shape.

I have a large bust and a smaller waist, so it can be difficult to find a good form-fitting dress. I loved the bold color & lace, and figured I'd give this one a shot. The 12 fit great - didn't need to use the 14. That said, the back is slightly low, so I decided to use a low-back Spanx for cup support instead of a strapless bra. The Spanx fabric kept getting stuck to the interior of the dress, and the entire dress would shift and twist so the zipper and slit was off-center. I ended up dumping the Spanx about ten minutes into the reception (used a regular bra with stuffed-in back instead), and was better off for it.  My mistake for waiting until the last minute to try the dress on with my chosen undergarments, but figured it's worth a warning for other renters. 

I wore it for our family Christmas photos and red photographed really well. The lace on this dress does not stretch. Keep in mind if your not looking for something tight and form fitting. 

Tight in chest, did not wear a bra and I'm a 32DD-E and the dress smashed the girls a bit, but otherwise gorgeous on, lots of compliments!

This dress was great and perfect for a holiday cocktail party. My only complaint was that it was a little tight around the bust and stomach/hips. 

The fabric allows you move and sit comfortably with plenty of breathing room. 

I usually wear a 6 so the 8 was my backup size and I'm glad I got it because I ended up wearing the 8. The fit was tight in the hips which is why I had to size up. 

It ran small in the bust but I'm 34 DD, also tight in the hips. I could still dance but it did ride up.

The dress fit as if it was tailored for me.  Not too tight, but followed my curves...I'm petite but still have hips so this isn't always the case.  It was perfect for my holiday party at work.  And bonus, there's definitely no need for a bra!

Tight across shoulders and chest. Bodice detail really nice! Appropriate length for most events. I really liked it. 

Easy to wear, the zipper stuck a little but other than that, looked like it was supposed to and ran true to size. Comfortable, got compliments.

I wore this dress for a wedding. It was a little tight in the midsection but the size two was too big. The fabric wrinkles a little when you sit down so I had to smooth it out whenever I stood up. A little more conservative than I thought it would be but probably because I am only 5'1". Price was a little high for the quality of the dress, I have ordered cheaper better dresses from RTR.

First time RTR customer and will rent again! Received many compliments and the color red was perfect for a November cocktail party. The first dress came with lose stitching and a broken hook but RTR acted fast and corrected the issue within 24 hours. 

This dress is incredible! Wore if for my wedding rehearsal dinner (wanted something different than white) and it was perfect! Fit true to size, very comfortable and breathable. The dress is light weight, very flattering on any figure and is a great vibrant color!  I'm 5'3, 110lbs and ordered a size 2. Received compliments all night and it photographs very well! Highly recommended!! 

I wore this for a fundraiser with a Vegas night theme. I really liked this dress and got a lot of compliments. My only complaint is I had to adjust it a lot. The seams kept going crooked. It might have been my shape wear though. And the lace around the neck and hemline was started fray a bit from wear. 

The dress pretty true to size.  You do need to wear a strapless bra due to the lace and open back.  I was very happy with this rental.

I wore this for a cocktail party thrown when my Rodan + Fields team hit Lexus so it was a very special and important night. I just had a baby 3 months ago so I'm self conscious about my tummy and my boobs are huge from breastfeeding. The dress was lovely, but I had really high expectations so it wasn't quite up to par. 

It showed my "baby bump" and despite the Spanx, I still felt like I looked unattractive. The color is more muted than I hoped - more of a blue red than an orange red. It was tough to find a bra for this dress because of the cut out in the back so I ended up going bra-less. The dress was structured and tight so it worked and looked fine, but you may not be comfortable with going without a bra. 

The length of the dress was great, and it definitely stood out in photos!

I loved this dress. I received many compliments and felt great in it all night. My only complaint is that it gathered oddly below my waist which you can kind of see in the attached picture. Overall gorgeous dress! 

A classy yet still sexy, perfect true red dress. I received lots of compliments all night long!The back is nicely cutout, a strapless bra is wearable if you don't mind pulling it down half an inch. The hem just hit my knee, which I like...a dress riding up too high when I sit is a big pet peeve! I ordered a size up and it was roomy enough to sit, eat and dance.

I loved the dress, although i didn't realize how form fitting it was when i decided to rent it. It turned out to be perfect, though, because of the length. I felt very sophisticated and classy, yet sassy in this dress. I received so many compliments and would rent it again!


This dress is beautiful. It's a close fit, but I felt comfortable in it. I had to get a new strapless bra because my usual one showed below the lace. My typical size floats between 12-14 and in this case the 14 was right. I loved it!

Fits pretty true to size.  Got so many compliments on it!! The only negative would be that the back scoops a little low so had to keep adjusting the strapless bra so it wouldn't peep out.

I had a couple of issues with this dress (which Customer Service took care of for me). Other than that, this was a beautiful dress which is classy, yet also a a little sexy (but not too crazy for a wedding). I wish that I had worn a sticky bra with it, but it was fine without a bra. Also, I would suggest Spanx (I'm so glad I wore them!). My favorite detail is the open back! I was initially concerned about the slit in the back, but it was modest (at least for my height). Keep in mind that since this is a rental, it is possible that the top of the dress may be stretched out from previous wearers (the issue I had with the dress), so it would have been impossible for me to wear a necklace with this. Instead I wore some really awesome earrings and it popped! It was very comfortable and I had no issues dancing in it.

I am reviewing this a little late, but from what I remember, this dress didn't have as much stretch as some others, It was more structured with the ribbing.  Regardless, both sizes that were sent fit me, but I wore the larger of the 2.  I got many compliments and it was a great little dress to wear to a wedding.  I will definitely rent this one again for a wedding in a different color, as Rent the Runway has this in multiple colors.  I do love the red though.

I typically wear a 6 and ordered both a 6 and an 8 for this dress. The 6 didn't fit comfortably so I went with 8. I got so many compliments on this dress and felt great wearing it!

I wore this dress for a rehearsal dinner and was initially concerned about it being too much (I never wear red), but it was perfect! I prefer my clothes to fit a little loose over being a little snug, so I wore the 8 when I typically wear a size 6. I love the color, the lace, and the length of this dress. To me, it says "classy but with a bit of sass," which is exactly what I was going for with this event! 

I wore this dress for a family wedding rehearsal dinner. My husband's brother was getting married, so it was important not to show off too much skin in front of my in laws at the rehearsal dinner. The dress hit me right above the knee. I love how it was modest, not showing any cleavage, but with a sexy back cut out. This dress does not have any give, and it was lined with a satin lining. To flatten things out in the tummy area, I did wear a spankx undergarment, like really tight shorts. I wore a nude color strapless bra. And lastly, I wore nude close toe pumps. This dress was just such a classy look and perfect for the dinner, which was in an upscale restaurant. I felt like Charlotte from Sex in the City. The event also took place in early December, so the red dress was fitting for that time of year. 

Length was on the longer side, but I felt like it was a good balance since its a lacy dress and bright red.
Definitely elegant and sexy at the same time.  I was nervous the dress would be too tight so I ordered the next size up (size 4) but it was too big. The 2 fit perfectly. The back neck part laid flat which was a concern for me since I am petite sometimes features like that tend to sag on me. I am so pleased I rented this dress.

This dress was amazing! It was very comfortable, beautiful and I got a ton of compliments all evening. I ordered the 12 and 14. The 12 was a bit too snug and the 14 was a bit larger than I would normally wear, however it ended up being perfect because it was comfortable to move in and for dancing! Highly recommend! 

 It looks very classy and very sheek. Stretchy and comfortable material. The only down side is that I don't have a large breast so the top half was a little big after being worn by other people. Other than that it was amazing. Definitely the girl in the red dress that night. I highly recommend this dress to anyone looking for a classy but yet sassy look!
