This was my backup dress, ended up not wearing it because I’ve unintentionally worn black every year and wanted a change. The material is heavier than it looks in the pictures, and is actually a lace overlay. It was a bit snug around the ribs. If I didn’t have the chest of a 10year old boy, this dress would’ve looked great! 

So glad the size 2 fit because the day before my dress was to arrive RTR said my back up dress was no longer available. They allowed me to pick another dress but I had my heart set on this one!

Overall the dress was great! I'm very small in the chest and waist, so even the 0 was a little big up top, but if you have an average sized chest it's perfect. The low cut and low back made it sexy, but it was still classy. It's a nice and thick fabric, so keep that in mind. It doesn't photograph super well only because the details of the fabric are intricate and pretty! I loved it thought.

This dress is fit perfectly and was so flattering on.  I'm not very busty.. it was slightly tight on top, so larger busts may have an issue.  The fabric is textured and heavy - almost like an expensive curtain material - but not overwhelming at all and very comfy.  Also, it had pockets!    

I wore this to a "step-down-from-black-tie" wedding and it was PERFECT. 

This thick brocade high/low gown is fitted through the waist but full through the hips, thighs, and rear. It was nice for me since my thighs are my biggest (literally) problem area when it comes to formal gowns. Very nice material and detail! 


I am 5'7 and 125# and the size 2 was a bit big through the ribcage. I am a c-cup and the top fit well without being too risque. 

This is a very nice formal-ish dress with a hint of sexy. I had A MILLION compliments and will rent this again! 

Note: after reading other reviews (and based on my experience) this dress runs pretty true to size- but it does err on the side of large in my opinion. I wish I would have sized dow (instead of up) for my backup size.

Great fit and comfortable material! Felt very elegant!

Fit like a glove! I am a size 6 and fit it me perfect! If you dont have hips, thats okay because this dress gives you curves! I felt so pretty and very comfortable. Goes well with a closed toe or open toe shoe. Loved it! 

I wore this dress to a military ball and loved it. The only thing that I wasn't super crazy about was the cleavage. The dress is pretty low cut so if you are larger chested like me that is something to think about. But at a different type of event it would have been fine! Other than that the fit and quality were both really nice. For reference I am 5' 6" 140 lbs. 

Fits true to size. The texture and weight is so luxurious. I don’t think I’ve ever received more compliments in a dress. Very fitted in the waist. The high-low hem line is so dramatic and let’s you show off your shoes!

This dress was AMAZING! I usually don't wear halters, but the support and fit were great. There was ample coverage to avoid side boob or looking stuffed into the dress. The black on black jacquard was understated, yet beautiful - it made the dress. It was true to size and was a perfect length. I got so many compliments on it. I wore it with red lipstick, simple drop earrings, two bracelets, and black single strap heels - no necklace needed.

This dress was my backup dress, but I knew it was the one the moment I tried it on. It fit perfectly, and I felt so beautiful! I ordered both size 4R and 6R, and the 4R fit perfectly! I am 5'5", 135 lbs, 34D chest. I usually wear between a size 4 or 6... usually size 4/small in dresses and tops and size 6 in pants (occasionally size 4). I didn't have to wear a bra, which is unusual since I need the support. The fabric is thick and top is structured enough to go without a bra, but overall the dress didn't feel heavy. I felt like twirling all night, and I received a lot of compliments on the dress throughout the night. I would buy this dress in a second if I could. In the meantime, I will definitely rent this dress again for my next formal event. It's perfection. I also rented the bracelet and earrings in the photo, and they were the perfect amount of bling for the occasion. A thousand stars!

Normally a 6 I rented a 4 due to availability but a 6 would have been better. The 4 worked great and everyone commented on how beautiful it was. Would definitely rent again!

This dress made my birthday weekend! I loved it!!

I rent from RTR a lot and this dress is arguably my favorite of all time. If I could have bought it, I would have. The fabric has a lace-pattern to it that you can't see in the pics, which give it some nice texture. The fabric is heavy and holds the structure really well. I'm usually a 4R and this was true to size. With a heel, the length was perfect. I adored this dress and my husband loved it. If you are looking for a classic, elegant option for a black tie event, this is it. 

I normally wear a 4R when renting/buying dresses and ended up, after reading many reviews, renting  2 sizes up, this dress definitely runs small (I wore the 8R). The waist area was very tight. I didn't have to wear a bra also, the top part of the dress fit me so well (I'm at 34A). With 3 inch heels the dress just skimmed the ground and my fiancé didn't step on it once (I'm 5'6).  I loved the dress! It was great quality material but not too heavy, the details of the dress were beautiful although hard to see in the photos. And overall just a beautiful and easy dress to wear! Always a great experience renting from RTR!! 

Thankfully, I have learned to trust the advice of RTR stylists. At 5'2", 105 lbs., this dress was a perfect choice for this formal occasion. It wasn't offered in petite sizing; however, the 0 Regular did not require any length adjustment wearing 3" heels, which the hi/lo hemline showed off beautifully.  The fabric was noteworthy in its weight and warmth - what you would expect in a quality garment - and a wrap was added only because the venue was chilly.  Truly a dress that I would love in my wardrobe and would not hesitate to order again and recommend to others.  I felt beautiful and received compliments the entire evening.

I am 5'3", 107 pounds, 32A, athletic/straight build. This dress was the perfect length when paired with modest heels (more than kitten, much less than crazy high)! I did need to wear a strapless bra to fill out the chest, and pull it down in the back to hide it. The V neck and open back were very flattering! The asymmetrical hem line was really nice, & showed off my heels & pedicure! It is a heavier black lace & I stayed warm (am always cold)! Great formal dress for the winter time.  I received so many compliments & am very happy with my choice!

This dress was great! In photos it looks a little stiff but it's very soft and flowy. I'm 5'6 140 lbs and a 32DD. The 6R fit well, a little big in the chest which was surprising but still fit well. I wore 3 inch heels and it was the perfect length. I got so many compliments on the dress and it was so elegant and comfortable to wear! Would highly recommend! 

Classic, comfy, the material was a little heavy, but it did not weigh down the dress. It made it look sumptuous. It was everything I hoped. I poured over dozens of dresses before choosing this. RNR makes it so easy. I even let the concierge at the hotel send it back, so I was able to fly back from the wedding a little less weighed down. IT was so easy. I also like that all the packaging is reusable. No waste. The garment bag it comes in is good quality and zips everything into place beautifully. A PLUS operation! 

Loved this dress! I'm smaller in the chest so this fit perfectly, but if you have a bigger bust, you probably need to order a size up 

I'm 5'4" ish and appx 150 lbs, rented the size 8 and it fit like a glove! It was absolutely perfect! A word of caution though from my own experience and reading others reviews is bra size. I'm a 34C from VS and I don't think this dress would have fit a larger size up top. Def. base your size choice from your top because below your true waist doesn't matter because of the gowns style. 

It is a heavy fabric, but super comfortable to wear. No weird adjusting all night! All I had to do all night was stand back and get compliments. 

I wore this to a black tie gala and it was spot on. Fancy, gorgeous, classy. I even got my picture taken for a local magazine! Not over dressed, not under dressed- perfect. 

It is a bit long in the back though, and the high low isn't as dramatic in the front as it seems on the model. 

Fit like a glove. Really made my waist look small. Wish I didn't have to return it.

Form fitting and flattering dress. The fabric is a thick beautiful jacquard fabric that is great at sucking you in on top and around the middle, but does make for a quite voluminous skirt, be warned. I was able to wear a regular strapless bra with this dress, needed to fill in slightly large cups in the halter. I have a larger rib cage for my size so felt it ran small there but overall was fairly true to size for a formal gown. In bright sunlight this looked more navy than black, which didn't bother me, but may be a deal breaker for some. I felt fresh and fashionable in this dress without having to wear a flirty cutout number. It was the perfect middle ground for a 30-something in the midst of young socialites and older glamorous ladies. Definitely recommend!

The 0 size was too tight.  I wore the 2R and it was perfect.  Very snug, kept everything in.  No need for a bra.  I am only 5'1 so I worried about the length.  The back of the dress touched the ground but only a little.  Material was a little heavy so I would not recommend for the hot summer months.  Very classy look for a black tie affair.  I loved it.  

I loved this dress. The fabric is a black lace (hard to tell from the pics) and can feel a bit heavy. But it is gorgeous. Loved the hi-low hem on the dress. The top is like a corset and can feel a bit binding after a long night. Also, the bust was a little tight for me. This dress does not have pockets but looks like it could. 

I rented this dress for a formal event. This was my very first experience using RTR, and I could not be more pleased! I received lots of compliments on this dress. The fabric was a bit heavy, and the dress does run long in the back, but with heels, it barely skimmed the floor. Loved this dress!

This dress fit incredibly well. It's got a bit of stretch and is a thicker fabric, so no bra needed. It's very flattering trimming in at the waist and with a low, but tasteful v-neckline. It's made of a thicker fabric so would be more appropriate for winter and fall events. I wore it to a black tie wedding and it was perfect. I ordered the 0 and the 2, and can usually wear either size, both fit, but the 2 was a good couple inches longer and with my 4 inch heels that was required for it to touch the floor!

Thick, heavy fabric is perfect for hiding rolls and pudge. Makes everything look tapered and slim. No bra needed. Definitely would rent again (and did)! 

The dress was a little bit heavier than I anticipated. Still extremely nice and many heads turned on the cruise where I wore it.  It fit just fine. 

Dress fit was great. Top is pretty snug which helps because you can't wear a bra. Was really great for my formal wear. 

I have a full bust and was worried about the dress dipping too low in the front since I'm fairly modest. The dress did dip pretty low but I just owned it and had a great time! I felt sexy and classy! The length was perfect when worn with 2.5-3 inch heels. Otherwise, it would be very long. The short front and long back were so elegant and I felt like someone should have rolled out a red carpet everywhere I went! If you're a larger busted woman - be prepared to show a little skin! I had to be careful when lifting my arms as the 'ladies' were trying to peek out the sides of the halter. The material almost feels like drapes or curtains - but in a good way! It was very comfortable, albeit a bit warm after some intense dancing. 

The fit was great. It is tight around the waist because of the corset lining but it gives you a great shape and is so comfortable to wear. Loved the cut and shape of the dress

 I was lucky enough to book an appointment to try on a ton of different dresses at the RTR shop in Washington DC. When I tried this dress on, I was surprised to find that the 0 fit me in the first place. I am normally a 4, so this was a surprise, yet once the dress was on, it fit perfectly. My only complaint was the low v in the front, but I used some fashion tape and fixed that quite easily. I wore this for a winter formal dance and although there was snow outside, I wasn't all that cold because I spent the majority of the night inside dancing. My stylist was absolutely amazing and she helped me find some jewelry that went perfectly with the dress. I wore a statement necklace and a cuff bracelet, both of which I also rented from RTR. I did wear 5" heels along with my dress and the length still worked perfectly. The dress is a high-low, but the high in the front was about tea-length if not a bit longer, so when the shoes came off, I wasn't constantly tripping over the dress. Overall, I had an amazing night wearing this dress and I would love to wear it again. I received so many compliments that night and I don't think I could have felt more glamorous. 

This gown is elegant and fits very nicely through the torso. I'm a 34B and did not  require a bra. I wore a size 2 since the 4 was not available so the length was a tad bit short, but the hi-lo allows you to showcase shoes and gives you lots of flexibility with a heel height. I opted for a 3" heel. The dress is so comfy - we danced all night and I could not have been more comfortable. If it had pockets, I'd buy it!!   

I typically wear a 0P, so the 0R was a little loose up top (I'm quite short and flat), but it worked out just fine. I ended up loving this dress so much more than I thought I would. I did not expect to enjoy wearing a ball gown, but the dress was so well-constructed and flowy that I felt very sophisticated for the museum gala I attended. Because I'm 5'1, I worried that the dress would be too long even with the high-low skirt style, but it was great. It dragged in the back only slightly as I wore 5" heels. I would love to wear this dress again and highly recommend it!

It was too low for me so I put a bobby pin to bring up the V-cut.

The fabric of this dress is thick, so I wouldn't recommend it for an event during spring or summer.  It is a little longer in the front than a typical high/low dress, but I think that is because I'm 5ft 3in.  Overall my favorite RTR rental

The dress was true to size.   Order for your bra size as opposed to hips since it is fitted at top.   I wore this to a Mardi Gras ball, it was extremely comfortable and although fitted, was easy to sit, move around and dance in.   I got more compliments from this dress than of anything I have ever worn.  If you want something classic that will turn heads, this is it.
