Hi Melanie, the Long length measures 60” from shoulder to hem and will be floor length on a 5’5” woman in 3” heels.

I wore this dress to a formal wedding. I got so many compliments the entire night. If you are on the short side, you will definitely need to wear high heels. I am 5'0" and wore 4" heels and I still had to hold it up to walk and dance. But that didn't bother me at all. The boning in the bust area is very sturdy so I didn't have to wear a bra. But it did dig a little under my arms. It wasn't a deal breaker, though.  My stylist, Evan B was also very helpful! This is my second dress from RTR and I will definitely  rent again! 

Rented this dress for my daughter for a prom. Fit perfectly. She has an hourglass shape , 5'4, and about 150 lbs. The cinched waist made her look like a supermodel . A tiny bit short with heels. Got the regular for her. Nothing to be worried about but if you are any taller consider the long.

I usually wear a dress size 4 or 6 and ended up wearing the 4. The material is stretchy and super flattering. I got so many compliments on this dress and I felt great in it. 

I have a super small rib cage, so I run into issues with strapless dresses regardless.  For some reason I am always going back for more :).    I think this one was a little stretched as well.  The length was perfect for a petite frame with a high heel.  I also loved that this dress was versatile, you can put a lot of pieces with it to dress it up, or keep it elegant and simple if you'd like.  The shipping process was a BREEZE.  Oh, and customer service?  EXCELLENT.  They can't help you enough or be more kind.  I will definitely be renting another dress.  This process is genius.  Just be sure to pay close attention to details about different body types and measurements to see what will work best for you, but hey they send you two sizes anyway...because they rock.  

This gown fit perfectly.  It runs a bit on the large size as I am normally between a size 6 and an 8.  The material has stretch.  For a topless gown, it was very comfortable.  I am a 36C, and the gown stayed put all night.  I did wear a strapless bra for added support.  I felt really elegant in this dress, and received compliments.  The stylist who helped me via a phone call was right when she suggested this gown.  Thanks for the great experience!

The dress fit true to size.  The gathered material and style made me feel every bit sexy and beautiful.  I didn't have to worry about pulling it up all night like I usually do with strapless dresses.  The only downfall are the darts that keep the shape in the bust area- when sitting they would dig into my ribs, and yet I wouldn't say it takes away from dress- just know so you can add padding before your night.  I got so many compliments and felt amazing in this dress.  I also rented the bracelets shown in promo photo and LoVeD them.  Perfect for a formal event or wedding. 

So I actually never got a chance to get a picture in this beautiful dress that I rented. As it turns out, both my sister and I rented dresses from RTR for a friend’s wedding, and have used this service for while. We both love RTR and have never had any issues with size until now. At the very last minute, we had to switch dresses because hers did not fit her properly. Luckily, we both are around the same size, so it ended up working out great in the end for us, but it could have been a complete disaster had we not switched in the end. Be warned, while the Green Badgley Mischka that I ended up wearing is absolutely stunning ( I received so many complements throughout the night) and fit me like a glove, it has absolutely no stretch what so ever. I am normally a size 0-2 and I had to wear the 4R. (she rented a 2R and 4R) My sister on the other hand is 2-4, and could not fit in the Green dress at all, but fit perfectly into the 0R Black Badgley Mischka that I had rented. All and all it was an absolute success and we were each thrilled with our "new" dresses, but for those of you renting just make sure you read all the reviews and double check your sizes before renting. Both dresses are amazing and I would rent again in a heartbeat!

I absolutely loved this dress!! It fit well and was very comfortable! My only issue was that it was pretty heavy and kept slipping down. 

I wore this dress to a navy ball and it was amazing! I loved the simplicity and elegance and it was perfect for the event.  The only con was that the train is a little long so it got stepped on but other than that this dress was great. I'm 5'5" and wore 4 inch heels and the front length was perfect. I ordered the 2 &4 regular. The 2 r is what I wore and it fit like a glove!  The length was at the top of my foot which was ok since the back has a mini train.
I considered the long length and am glad I didn't or I would have been tripping all night!


It fit really well and runs pretty true to size. It was perfect for a black tie wedding I attended. The only issue is that I felt like I was having to pull up the top while dancing. Length was perfect with 4 inch heels.

The essential go-to black dress - if you can't find anything else, this is always a sexy classic! Stretchy material for form fitting, but didn't look cheap at all. It does have a little bit of a train in the back so caution when walking. This was floor length with 4" heels.   Super sexy but classy - loved it!

Dress was beautiful and fit great. An issue I saw was that it seemed to collect dust easily when I was outside.  I wore 4 inch heels and the gown touched the floor which I wanted. Just had to watch out for the slight train so that no one stepped on it.

I wore the 0L and probably would've been ok with a regular. The dress did have lots of material that made it heavy. Overall, I loved it and it made me feel like a princess. 

Fit ran slightly large. Normally I wear a 4 in this brand, but found it too large. The 2 fit perfectly. Best for bigger busts. The boning helps support the weight of the beaded neckline, and was comfortable. The small train was lovely.  Perfect fit. 

I wore this to a wedding reception and got a ton of compliments!  It was a fabulous dress and is really nicely made and heavy.  The zipper was a little tricky and would get stuck sometimes.  This dress runs pretty true to size even though some people said it ran big,  Also if you are a normal height, get the long.  I rented a 0L and 2R and the length of the 0L was perfect but I couldn't fit so had to go with the 2R, wish I could have done 2L.  No need for a bra, I have a big bust and the built-in bra was so thick that I didn't even need extra support and I never had a problem with having to pull it up.  Great dress! 

This dress fit perfectly. I am usually a size 6 and I am 5'10" so I went with the 6L. It was actually even a little long on me which I was happy about because usually dresses are short on me. There were 2 places where some wire was poking out of the dress but I easily covered them up with band aids  so they weren't poking into me.  I would definitely recommend this dress and RTR!


Did you wear spanx with this dress, or was the boning enough??

I ended up going w the size 6 for two reasons... it fit a bit more snug than the 8, but also the 6 was longer than the 8 for some reason. (I dont think I was sent an 8L that's why).  The dress was beyond chic and the jewels on top really added an extra flare to what would be a simple black dress. It was so comfortable and I love that the back had a bit of a train to it. I just love the look and fit of Badgley Mishka on my body type. Would def rent again! I wish I owned this one! 

I am also small busted. How well did this stay up?

This dress was perfect for my late summer,black tie wedding. It was comfortable, easy to move in, and the top stayed in place perfectly ( despite hours of dancing). The beading detail was just the right amount of sparkle to really make the dress pop.

The material is stretchy so I felt safe renting it without trying it on because even if the size was slightly off, I knew it would fit.

Fit very well. Shorter than expected, but fit was true otherwise. The stretch made this incredibly comfortable, and the strapless stayed up fine. The boning looked a little funky in the bust, but was hard to notice in the black color.

I wore this dress to a black tie dinner. It fit perfectly (I wore he 6L) I received so many compliments!! It was simple elegance and I loved how the dress flowed when I walked! Highly recommended!!!! 

I'm glad I got the long, I think the regular may have been a bit too short. I wore flats and I had about three inches that dragged in front, but I preferred this dress to hide my feet. The cut is very flattering with ruching on the stomach. I felt like I could eat and not look like I had an obvious food baby all night. I'm a little on the bustier side and I feel like the chest area was too small and I had to pull it up throughout the night. But otherwise I loved this dress, it was so comfortable. The wedding was semi-formal but this dress is so simple and pretty, it was easy to get away with a more formal length. 

This dress fit like a glove. I ordered the 2L and 4L, I ended up wearing the 4L. I am normally a size 4. I didn't have to wear a bra which was nice not having to readjust the top all night. The wiring in it held me in all night. My only compliant, the wiring on the top poked me a few times but after a little tape on the wire, all was good. The length was perfect! I am 5'9" and was able to wear 3 1/2 inch heels and it still hit the floor. The back is a little longer which made it flow and even more elegant. 

It hugged my body in all the right places and just looked beautiful. The rouching on the sides is a great addition. Only con was the wires poking me under the breast and below the armpit. Pretty train in the back too! Definitely using RTR again :)

Great dress overall!

Pros: really comfortable, stayed up, kept it's shape all night.

Cons: that zipper was almost the end of me, a huge pain but once it was on, I was good to go!

Insight: I'm only 5'5" and found that the dress was a great fit with flats so just a heads up to the taller crowd

I ordered both a 6R & 8R - I went with the 8R because it was a little longer, I wear really high heels and should have gone with the 6L/8L. They both fit, true to size - although my bust was way too big on me in the 8R, but that's a problem I'm always running into with any dress. The 6R was also a little large in the bust area, but the 8R gave me the extra room for dancing. Overall, the dress was lovely and I wish I owned it!!!  

I was a bit nervous to order this dress because this would be my first time ordering a dress online. I ordered the dress on Wednesday and it got here on Friday just like I requested! I ordered 2L and 4L just to be on the safe side. The 2L fit like a glove so I didn't even try on the 4L. I am about 5'4-5'5 and wore 3 inch heels and the dress was just long enough so heels higher then that would have made the dress too short for my liking. Wonderful detailing around the bust and beautiful ruching along the hip and bottom area. ONLY con is the boning of the dress, it kept poking me throughout the night BUT without it the dress wouldn't have fit as well as it did (no having to pull it up throughout the night) so I didn't mind it at all! Loveeeee this dress and this website!!!!

I loved the fit of the dress. I wore a size 0 because I liked the way it showcased my curves. I also loved the ruched seems down the side. I would recommend this dress to anyone. 

This was the first time we used RTR, and we couldn't have been happier!  We ordered a 2R and 4R, and the 4R ended up being the one! It is very true to size.  I wore 4" heels, and the length was about 1/2 shorter than I really wanted, but it was fine.  We also ordered the bracelets modeled in the advertisement, and while they were absolutely gorgeous, they were TOO heavy to wear all night....so, I wore them for pictures, and left them at home. :) The dresses arrived in impeccable condition, and customer service was SO very helpful! I will be back!

This dress was AMAZING! I cannot begin to describe how I felt in it. The dress hugs in all the right places! I rented a 4L and a 6L but the material started to stretch so I ended up wearing the 4L and it fit PERFECTLY! I received compliments all night! Even the bride told me she loved my dress! Rent this dress and you won't be disappointed! The worst part was having to return it! 

I rented this dress for my best friends wedding and even she said I looked beautiful. My husband is begging me to rent it just to wear around the house he loved it so much. The ruching makes the dress super flattering and the built in boning kept my ample girls looking great and in place all night long. It is long - I'm 5'2- but nothing some sky scraper stilettos couldn't fix. Stunning dress and I'm absolutely renting it again. 

I was in NYC for work so I went to the RTR in Henri Bendel and had not originally chosen this dress.  I put it on and just loved it!  The rouching in the front, back and side is very flattering!  No spanx necessary with this gown!  Was so comfortable!!!  The only slight issue is that there is some boning in the front and when I sat down, it dug into me a little but overall the dress was very comfortable and I got so many compliments!  Very elegant gown!  I am 5'4" and ended up wearing 3-4" heels so I wore the long.  You won't be sorry renting this gown!

The dress was beautiful. It was perfect for a black tie affair. It fit true to size. I did however, need a strapless bra underneath to fill out the top more. I received several compliments throughout the night. I was a little worried about how long it was going to be because it said the dress runs short but It was the perfect length. It didn't hit the floor but it was long enough for me. I did have to keep pulling it up throughout the night but otherwise no complaints. I was the belle of the ball.

This dress fit like a glove, it's very flattering and form fitting. I wish the embellishment around the sweetheart neckline stood out more but it was still nice accent. I wore probably 4" heels with this and the length was great, it does have a little train at the back though and that was kind of annoying throughout the night, got stepped on a lot. But overall it was comfortable and pretty, if you're looking for a sexy black dress this would be a great choice. 

Fit- cinched, figure flattering but form fitting, good for curvy women who arent afraid to show their curves ;). Favric conforms to your skin, so you can wear a smaller size as well. Top of dress has some added support and boning to help create a shape, so you dont even have to wear a bra if your cup size is not big.

Got many compliments on this simple, classic ,sexy dress. The sweetheart cut with beads was a beautiful touch. Wished I had time to pair it up with long gloves and it would have been taken to another level!!! This was actually my second choice but I ended up wearing it.

Im 5'6, and the R was just right for me with 3 inch heels, the Long was way to long even with 4 inch heels.

Fit was very flattering, the subtle beading sets off the neckline beautifully.  Dress is not heavy and the material flowed well.

Got myself a 2R thinking I would have been that size but it was a little too big and my backup 4P was definitely way too big. I had to pin it up with safety pins to ensure that it fitted around the waist a little better and I wore 2 bras with a invisible push up bra from VS. Good thing is the safety pins could not be seen through the dress and the dress held up through the night. 

I am normally a size 4 but wore a size 6 I'm very glad I got it in the size bigger as well bc I'm
5 foot3 and don't wear a long in anything but the dress in the 4 barely touched my ankles. The six was better but I still couldn't wear a high heel at all. The fit was nice it was a very thick material but the jewels on top looked as if they had been rubbed on concrete they def had a lot of wear and someone may have dragged it across the floor 

Absolutely LOVED this dress! It was very comfortable, and slimming. I was worried that the top wouldn't stay up all night, but that was not a problem at all. It was the perfect length, and fit perfectly! Only problem was the wire in the bra part was a little uncomfortable at times. Other than that it was perfect for the occasion! 

This dress was very comfy and fun though and I'd have been happy to wear it. The boob area prob needed some tape because I have 34DDD's. Hot dress.

This dress was gorgeous.  It fit me well, although I could have used a more padded bra.  I wore 3 inch heels as I am only 4'11" and my husband is 6'3" and it was only a little too long. I was able to walk and dance in the dress.  I received many compliments on this dress throughout the night and I sang the praises of RTR.  I also have a rather large behind for my size, but this dress showed my curves in a sophisticated and flattering manner.  I would definitely rent this dress again.  Thank you, RTR!

Overall the dress was pretty but I was a little disappointed with the corset/boneing on the inside around the bust area. It looked as though it has had a lot of wear and should be replaced. The length was okay - I am 5'5 and it was an inch or 2 off the floor with 3-4 inch heels. It definitely doesn't hide anything so I would suggest Spanx if you are a little self conscious of your midline area. 

The fabric on the dress was great, very thick so you really didn't have to wear any undergarments. The rouching was extremely flattering. My only complaint is that the inner lining of the bra area of the dress, although great to have, was somehow morphed when I received it. The boning was sticking out and it looked a little funky. I still wore the dress but I don't believe it was supposed to be like that.

The dress was true to fit and very flattering. However the top was either very stretchy due to the fabric or it was stretched out from previous wears, but I had to hold it up the whole night (I'm 34C bust size). 

I ordered both the size 4 and 6 and ended up wearing the 4. Dress was of good, heavy material. Held u in nicely, no need for Spanx. Do not need a bra with dress but I used my "chicken cutlets" to give me more of a bust. I still had to hike it up a couple times throughout the evening but I am small chested. Could feel the boning in dress when sitting as other girls mentioned but it was bearable. The zipper was tough at first but became easier after a couple uses. Length was perfect for me. Did not cover my shoes but I wasn't tripping over it either. Dress came in a nice garment bag with easy return instructions. Received MANY compliments all night and I felt beautiful! Look forward to doing more business wth RTR in the future!!

This dress would've definitely work out for me if it had been a regular size, I am 5' 2" 130 lbs and this was 8P, the dress was so short, I hardly ever have that problem,  I have a 34DD chest, there was plenty of room for my chest and even might of been a little too big, I probably would've fit in a 6reg, oh well my other dress worked out! 

This dress was great. It fit perfectly and was extremely flattering. Despite it being strapless, it didn't fall down throughout the night. My only complaint is that it was a little short with heels. I'm only 5'3", I wore a 4R, and the dress hit about 1 inch above the ground with 4" heels. So if you are planning on wearing tall heels with it or are taller than me, I would consider renting the long.

I ordered a 0R with 2R as back up. The 0 wasn't available because the person before me returned it damaged. RTR offered me another dress as a back up (see Clemence gown - amazing!!). Unfortunately, this 2R was a little big - especially in the bust. I'm a 34B and had to fill my bra with padding and it STILL didn't stay up. I was tugging at the gown all night. The ribbing in the bust was crooked and bulged in weird spots. Otherwise, the dress is fantastic. Simple, elegant and perfect for black tie.

Ladies, if you have a small waist and a large bust, you can't find a better dress to rent for the price. I did kind of feel like my boobs were going to fall out the whole night (I wear a size 30H) so I did invest in a strapless bra; it made it a little better. The boning was in a strange spot, but the dress was beautiful and I got a lot of compliments on it. If you're curvy and short like me, the regular sizing will work fine--the ruching does make the dress sit up on your hips a little higher, so get a long as a backup if you're wearing heels and are worried about length. The Badgley Mischka website has dress guidelines that are very accurate if you need a reference for measuring. Great dress, highly versatile, highly recommend it!

This was my first experience with Rent the Runway and it was a fantastic one. I received so many compliments on the dress and fit. I didn't need to wear a bra which was a huge bonus and it defied gravity all night. It hugged in all the right places and was overall a wonderful rent. My only issues were 1) while the boning in the dress kept my shape, sitting down it did poke awkwardly sometimes and 2) the length was a little shorter than I expected. I went with the suggestion the site offered for a 5'1" girl who planned on wearing 4in heels. You can't tell in the picture but the shoes peeped out a bit more than I would like. Over all though, amazing dress and felt like old Hollywood Glam. 

This dress was definitely flattering. I just had a baby 4 months ago and not quite back into my own dresses so this was perfect. Black with some nice stretch to cover any flaws. I am only 5'3 and without heels this dress wasn't dragging and with heels was actually just perfect. However for anyone over 5'3, I would suggest the Long dress otherwise it will hit you at the ankles with heels on. 
Also the boning in the right side chest is almost poking thru the material. I am guessing this is from repeated wear. Hurt a little as the night went on but nothing major. Great dress though!

Great dress for a very formal occasion! The material and shape is extremely flattering for almost any body type. The 0P was the perfect length for my height. I paired the dress with a 4inch heel, but even with no heels the length was great. 
I have a small bust, so I found the top of the dress to be a little large. This dress really is meant for women with fuller breasts. I ended up wearing both a silicone cutlet bra and a shaping strapless bra under the dress. The top was still a little big, but I was very comfortable and not worried about pulling the dress up the entire night. Leading me to my next point, this is a fantastic dress for drinking, dining, and dancing the night away! Recommend!

I wore to a cocktail attire party and it was perfect. The body in it made it hold its shape and I normally don't do strapless because I'm small in the chest but it holds up perfectly! 

Loved this dress!    I am a 36DD, 5'9" and 165lbs and I was 4 months pregnant with my second son when I wore this dress!   I ended up going with the 12L and it fit well but I still thought it could have been a tiny bit longer.    In the picture I posted I have on 4in heels and I wished it was a tad bit longer.   It could have been due to the fact that I have a belly bump so it pulled up some but I was not noticeably pregnant.    The dress was a good think material so you didn't feel the need to wear spanks to smooth anything out and overall it was really comfy.    There was some wiring on the side that poked me every now and then but not to the point of not wanting to wear the dress.   Overall it was a great RTR experience!!!!

Fit has a significant amount of give, and the side ruching is very forgivable, you can eat a full dinner and not feel like you're popping out of the dress. The support in the chest plus the sticky tape on the back of the dress enabled me to go braless. Comfortable , so fun, hugs the curves, easy to wear.

Extremely comfy and stretchy. I wore this for my prom and it was absolutely perfect. It fit a little crookedly, but that was not very noticeable at all. It was a little heavy, but over all I loved the dress and the fit.

The fit was awesome with some stretch. I went up a size because the 8 was a little too tight and the 10 fit just right with a little more room. The bustier dug into my sides a little bit but nothing too painful. Overall it was an amazing dress and I felt so comfortable in it. 

A beautiful gown that I would definitely wear again. I have a stronger frame than most but I loved how the dress hugged my body flowed. It was the perfect height but if I had worn higher heels it may not have looked as great. I definitely recommend renting this dress as it is easy to pair it will accentuating colors! 

Very comfortable and flattering, the only con I have is that it was a bit uncomfortable around the bust. The interior metal pieces are quite rigid since it is strapless, and were almost poking through the fabric into my armpits. 

The dress arrived on time and fit perfectly! I am short so the petite was perfect. A little long in the back but not so much that it bothered me. I wore a 3 inch heel. 

Loved the dress but would go with a long next time

The dress was amazing. The only problem with the 6 was that the rubber lining around the top of the dress was 95% gone from the dress and the 4 fit and was perfect but a little too tight so I went with the 6. But for a strapless dress that material at the top of the dress is necessary for a good fit. The  two pieces of double sided tape that came with the dress were helpful but I was still pulling up the dress all night but I received so many complements I felt like a million bucks!!  Will definitely use RTR again!!

It was beautiful but too large. I had to keep pulling up the top. I think the 0 would of fit perfectly. The length was nice and just touched the floor. 

I read all the reviews before ordering, and decided, at 5'5" and a 4-inch heel wearer, that I should get the 8L with the 6L as a back-up.  As it turns out, I think I probably could have done with the R length.  Even with the heels, the dress pooled a little at the ground (you can see this is the second picture).  I also ended up going with my backup, smaller size, and even that was a bit loose around the waist. It was really flattering, but I think it would have been even more flattering had it been tighter. That being said, it was extremely comfortable and it received tons of compliments; I would definitely recommend it.  I paired it with the Kenneth Jay Lane Gold Denari Necklace, which I thought might be too much with the beading detail on the top, but was completely perfect.


The dress was perfect for a black tie wedding event. I decided to wear size 6R as I noticed that around my bust area the size 8R was loose so I went with the smaller size since I like a tight fit on top. The dress is a bit short on the front, not sure if this is intentional by the designer however, I didn't mind it as the dress looked great. This was my first time renting a dress from RTR and won't be my last. I was very relieved to see that the dress holds true to it's size and definitely felt at ease knowing that I could rent an additional size for free. 

This dress is beautiful, but I wish I'd also been able to order another size. I spent most the night hiking this up around my boobs. My cleavage looked good, but I know it would have looked phenomenal in a 10. The length is stunningly perfect for a formal affair. I'm 5'10", wore 4.5 inch heels and still had a substantial train. This dress is a bit worn and the boning was killing me by the end of the night. I have the scars to prove it. Someone else there had on the same RTR and looked different bc we made so many different choices. All that aside though, I received so many compliments and it's fun how differently everyone can dress this up. I do wish there were a feature on RTR that made us register the event to avoid seeing the same dress.  Overall, it's a very sexy dress.
