All plans allow you to keep five items at home at once. The main difference between our plans is the number of shipments you receive each month and how frequently you can swap. For example, with the 10-item plan: You’ll receive up to two 5-item shipments per month, and you get to choose which items you want to swap and when.

All members use their plans differently – some hold onto a handbag or great coat for weeks or months, and swap out other everyday styles for something new. Just note that anything you keep at home counts as a spot in your next shipment.

To get the most items per month, swap all of your at-home items when placing a new shipment.

Orders will be delivered by 10 p.m. local time on your delivery date.

Subscription: We take shipping speed seriously. The vast majority of subscription orders arrive within 2-3 business days, with some orders arriving sooner. Saturday or same-day delivery is available in select zip codes!

Purchases: Purchases will arrive in 2–5 business days. Your delivery window will be communicated at checkout.

*Orders must be placed before 3 p.m. ET Monday-Friday to ship the same day. Members with a 5-item or 10-item plan will receive their orders within 3 business days.

As long as you are an active member, you can keep items for as long as you want. And you don’t have to return all of your 5 items at once — each piece can be kept and worn as long as you need. Members often keep certain items for weeks or months, and send others back after one wear. The choice is always yours.

Yes! One of the key benefits of a Rent the Runway subscription is that you can try new styles, fall in love, and purchase at a discount. Buying the styles you already have at home is as easy as clicking the “Buy Now” button on your subscriber homepage. You also have the option to buy items without renting them first.

Full Subscription Closet: Includes an assortment of over 750 designer brands and counting. Choose from thousands of items with a retail value up to $3,000. From work to weekends to special occasions, you can rent clothing, handbags, sunglasses, jewelry and more. Styles inside the Rent the Runway Vault are for one-time Reserve rental only and are not available within either the Full Subscription Closet or the Limited Subscription Closet. In addition, certain other styles may be designated as Reserve-only rentals time to time and not included in subscription plans.

Limited Subscription Closet: Includes a curated edit of everyday clothing and accessories, each with a retail value up to $350. Formal wear, select designers and the Rent the Runway Vault are not available with Limited Subscription Closet access.

All subscriptions include access to our maternity styles.

Goodbyes are hard. That’s why we’ve made returns super easy! All shipments arrive with a prepaid return label and a reusable garment bag to send your rentals back. When you're ready to swap for something new, decide which items you'd like to return, pick your next shipment and send back your items in the packaging provided. Simply drop off your rentals at a nearby UPS, and you’re all set!

Your subscription includes rental coverage for minor mishaps and general wear and tear. Live your life in our clothes and don’t worry about the wine stains, party fouls or whatever your kids might get on you – we have it covered.
Significant damage, lost pieces, and theft are not covered. In those cases, you will be charged the current RTR Purchase Price (aka the “To Buy” price) of the item plus applicable tax.

When you’re a member of Rent the Runway, you can skip the laundry and dry cleaning. We take care of that.

Over the past 15 years and tens of millions of rentals, we’ve become experts at cleaning and repairing clothing and accessories. We’re dedicated to ensuring that each rental looks and feels like new. We have a deep understanding of the science of cleaning, sanitizing and restoring clothing in our state of the art facilities (DFCs or Dream Fulfillment Centers).

We use multiple cleaning processes, each selected for individual rental item needs. We do not use (and have never used) halogenated cleaning solvents such as Perchloroethylene (PERC). After our thorough cleaning processes, most garments pass through a steam tunnel between 248°F and 302°F. We also clean our garment bags between each use.

Yes! Our subscription plans are designed to be flexible with your lifestyle. You can customize how many spots and shipments you receive each month, and pause or cancel at any time.

It’s common for members to add more spots when they’re busier at work, have a packed social calendar or before a vacation.

With our rotating closet, the selection of styles available to rent with subscription will change from day to day. Eyeing a specific look for a big event? Reserve a one-time rental, that way your look is locked in ahead of time.
