Nice vest, runs long

I rented this vest to take on a trip to SF and it was great for layering. It runs a bit long but the XS fit was good otherwise. Mine seemed to be missing the belt shown in the picture, which made it look less flattering than I would have liked, but it still did the job.

Fit was unflattering on me

Wanted something with a relaxed fit, because I'm 20 weeks pregnant, but found the fit to be too tent-like. It may just be a matter of style, but I felt I looked sloppy in it, especially because of the low shoulder seams. It was also unflattering on my small breasts.

I was unable to wear this dress because it ran too large, by far.

This was probably my most disappointing RTR experience. I called a stylist to talk about the fit of the dress and make sure that there was a good chance it would fit me. I was assured that it ran small and that it'd be great. Well, as it turned out, the top of the dress was so baggy that the neckline hit below the girls. Unbelievable. The next morning, a scramble to find a mailbox to drop off this dress (the only way to not get charged for a rental is to return it right away--and they mean RIGHT away). If you are very petite, don't chance it with the long dresses here. I still gave the dress three stars because it was pretty, and I don't want to blame the dress for the bad advice I got over the phone. I gave my measurements and everything, and it was like the MO was just to reassure me that it would work--instead of actually thinking about it critically.

I enjoyed wearing this dress out, but it just wasn't at the same level of quality that you should be seeing for a dress that retails at $500 (or rents for $75). The fit was curve-hugging and the print was lovely, but the silk jersey material just wasn't great. I suggest checking the dress IMMEDIATELY for any holes in the fabric. Especially if you rent it in XS. You might find, as I did, a small hole near the hem of the skirt, towards the right hand side. I didn't notice it when I first received the dress, but it was there, hiding among the ruching. I wore it as was and hoped no one would notice, but it kind of sucked that I had to worry about that. When I returned it, I made sure to call RTR ahead of time to let them know about the hole. Let's just say I wasn't impressed that they told me I didn't have to worry since I'd gotten the $5 insurance for small damages. GIRL, I RECEIVED the dress in that condition. You should be hoping I tell *you* not to worry. For $75, I think I can dare to dream the dress comes without holes. Was I really supposed to call you Saturday night on Memorial Day weekend? Like someone was going to be there? Please. Anyway ladies, check your dresses thoroughly as soon as you get them and just leave them a voicemail if they don't pick up. At least that way it'll be on record that you received damaged goods. And if you see another XS Indigo Fireworks Dress with a small hole near the hem, it probably means they still haven't fixed it.

Very stylish, feminine, cute!

I wore this dress to a black tie optional wedding and felt perfectly dressed. Because of the delicately balanced black accents on the waist and shoulders, the dress pairs nicely with sheer black tights, which felt needed since the wedding was in the Northeast, and in November. The top has a blousy fit, but the skirt is more fitted than meets the eye (underneath all the ruffles). The rich metallic beading on the top looks great in person; it lends a lot of visual interest and lets you complete the outfit with minimal accessorizing. Due to the price point, this isn't the dress I originally rented (I do my best to stay sub-$100, lest this become too expensive of a habit!). I had planned on getting the Trina Turk Purple Bow Shoulder Dress, but RentTheRunway called the day before my rental was scheduled to arrive to inform me that they had received it at their warehouse. To help make the last-minute replacement easier, they said to pick any dress that was still available. Although this dress was not available in a size 0, which is what I usually wear, the helpful RTR stylist told me that she herself wore this dress in a 2 since it ran small. So, all things said and done, the little mishap worked out in the best way it could have for me. I was lucky that this dress was available on such short notice, since I actually liked it more than the one I had initially settled on. Guess you get what you pay for--if you're looking to splurge a little this isn't a bad way to do it.

This dress fit right in at a summer wedding. It's playful and happy without being glitzy, making it ideal for daytime events. The color is a vibrant and true red, and the ruffles are very well made to give the dress movement. Check out the picture of the back of the dress--I love the curved hem; to me that's what made it more than just another strapless dress. With respect to the fit, I did notice the dress was a little tight in the top (as other reviewers have mentioned). I wore the size 0 and I am am about a 32A/B or something (seems to vary everywhere you go, doesn't it?). Anyway, my chest is on the small size and I still noticed the tightness. I wasn't uncomfortable, but I'd caution against this dress if you have a larger chest. Maybe the proportions get better in the larger sizes, but that's the chance you'd be taking. The other comment I might make is that also the dress looks very light and airy, the lining around the hip area is well-tailored. It fit and felt great, but you shouldn't plan to sit open-legged or run to catch a train while wearing. This dress will keep you ladylike :)

This dress was sweet and appropriate for a summer wedding. I wore it in size 0 and it didn't hit too high above my knees, even though I'm on the shorter size (5'2"). I liked the canvas-like fabric. It had a nice weight and thickness; the make of the dress felt high-quality. The dress fit well in the chest and hip area (I'm about a 34"/35" at the widest point in those areas respectively), but it was a little wide in the waist (where I'm about 25"/26"). That said, it wasn't a bad fit, especially since the dress and the material are pretty forgiving. I'm just leaving the information out there in case it helps anyone who's trying to figure out whether Milly dresses fit their shape. Instead of the featured necklace, I wore it with a string of pearls.
