I've always been drawn to Black Halo's design style of simple, classic cuts that are made for a woman's body - and this dress was no exception! I wore it for a business luncheon that was primarily bankers, accountants and attorneys so naturally shades of black, navy and gray prevailed! This dress has all the form and function of a business-appropriate dress but still lets you stand out in a crowd! It is a thick lined crepe material, however has very little stretch so I put that it runs small because you will have work (and wiggle) to get in and out of this if you have any curves! The back zipper is a little challenging because it's one of those that doesn't go all the way up, so this is still a pullover style which is always a challenge with white - dress first, makeup second! But the fit is so flattering it's not even worth docking a star over!

I rented this very last minute (as in, overnight delivery required!) for a company holiday party. I had read in another review that there was no zipper, but I was optimistic that it would stretch enough to get it on. Well, I'm glad I gave the dress a "dry run" for fit that morning - once it's on it's beautiful, but quite the wiggle dance is required to get it on, especially if you have a bust. And then same deal taking it off, although this time I scratches all over my arms from the sequins. So my advice is definitely rent this dress - the silhouette is beautiful (so hard to find long sleeve cocktail dresses!) and the embellishment pattern is very unique. But put the dress on first, cover yourself with a robe and then do your hair and makeup! I wanted a S and XS but the S was already borrowed, so I took a chance on the XS and it fit, although it has limited stretch in it. So my advice would be to get your usual size and then the next size up as backup!

For some reason I was expecting this to be more of a knit fabric, so I was very surprised when I opened my RTR box and it felt almost like a wetsuit. The black parts are a very thick neoprene-like fabric, which when I tried it on just made strange rolls and gaps, even though it was form-fitting. It photographs beautifully and is very flattering in the decolletage, but I was afraid I would be adjusting it all night so I went with my other choice. I am 5'5, 120 lbs and have a larger bust and hips with smaller waist, and the XS was the only size available when I rented but it fit well!
