The lining of the dress peaks out. I would have worn the small but you could really see the lining, when I went up a size it wasn't pulling as much so you couldn't see the lining as much. I recommend wearing a size larger, the dress is super stretchy so the dress didn't look big at all. I received compliments all evening and felt wonderful in this dress
