I'm usually between a 6L and 8L in BCBG (closer to the 8). The long wasn't available, so I wore the 8R. It was a bit short but fit perfectly on top and was loose in the hips - I'm not sure if this was because the proportions were a little off on me or if a 6L may have ended up fitting better. Either way, it's a beautiful dress - elegant and sexy, forgiving if you've got a gut, and comfortable! I ended up having to switch my delivery from Friday in Manhattan to Saturday in NJ due to some last minute travel changes, and RTR was on the ball to make the change. The only issue was that this dress was incredibly wrinkled upon arrival. Luckily it allows for a warm iron and I was able to make it wearable, but definitely not the quality I've had before. This was also the first time I'd had a delivery outside NY, and it arrived in a box rather than a garment bag - so maybe it's par for the course outside the city.

This dress fit me in the waist but was huge up top, and the straps were the wrong length. It's also a heavier material than I was expecting. There's no give to the dress, so if it doesn't fit exactly right it's not going to stretch at all. Luckily, I had a backup. I definitely wouldn't recommend ordering this dress without trying it on in one of RTR's stores first - I think it could be beautiful on someone but I don't know what body type that would be. I was also disappointed that the dress was incredibly wrinkled upon arrival, so even if it had fit I wouldn't have been able to wear it.

I absolutely loved this dress! I'd initially ordered the 8R but had to get a replacement because the dress had a stain on it, and they were out of 8R. The 8R was a little short for me anyway (it fit perfectly barefoot), so the 8L ended up working better for me (with 3 inch heels). I didn't wear a bra, but the fitted waist kept me secure on top. The color was darker in person than it looks on the site, but it looks great on - the lace detail is beautiful, and I loved not having to tug up a strapless dress all night.
