Excuse me...MY COAT HAS ARRIVED, and I'm with it.
THIS is what 48 looks like, okay? This coat is a statement piece, make no mistake! You walk in, it's like the coat you want when your skin is flawless, your skinny jeans actually work, and your footwear helps you to either stomp into a room or sashay like Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada. Whatever the entrance, make no mistake, YOU OWN THE ROOM. Yaaaaaaassss KWEEN! *finga snapz* Be prepared even before getting to your destination (and ultimately when you get to your destination) that the sheer fabulousness of the coat will not, no, cannot, be denied by those that walk by. Prepare for COMPLIMENTS. You will be stopped, gushed over, and almost on the verge of being pawwed (but they know they dare not). Listen, I want this coat PERMANENTLY. Alas, it appears unavailable no matter where I look online! For now, I guess I will have to settle for the occasional rental. *still posing because why not?* ... BTW, full ensemble: White tee, silver-grey, washed skinny jeans, black patent 70s-inspired platform heels. On the face: All Fenty Beauty -- LIGHT makeup (I'm old, I can't do all that), with the exception of the statement lip: STUNNA... the bright red lippie.

A STAND OUT: Pop of Colour...and...POCKETS!
Listen, my stylist Nancy came ALL THE WAY THROUGH saving my life AGAIN with this dress. (Yes, she's done this before.) When I walked in, I told her: I've got to walk out with a dress with these parameters...x, y, z. Lord, I vetoed dresses without trying them on, and then THIS DRESS. I'm vertically-challenged, but surprisingly, these high-low dresses seem to work on me. Paired with heels, yes tiny girls, you can rock this dress. Now, can we just talk about that thing called pockets? Give. Me. Pockets. Any. Day., and I'm happy, especially if it doesn't make me look too hippy. I'm not a curvy girl, so my curvy girl queens, you may feel the skirt, which has a bit of a poof, may be too much. Before you veto, try it. The colour alone may change your mind about this because, let me tell you, the dress in a sea of black dresses, is not a stark red, but hues of red. SHOW STOPPER. Get ready for compliments. Go light on the jewellry. The dress really doesn't need a 5 pound item around your neck. Simple. Sparkly. *thumbs up* Rock your best stilettos and you betta WERK. *finga snaps*

Family and Food
First of all, this dress was not the original dress I had ordered. Actually, the maxi dress and a backup maxi dress I had ordered were both underwhelming. The photos of the dresses were much more vibrant in color then they appeared when they were delivered. Extremely disappointing. Also, one was quite long, too long for someone at 5 ft tall. Two frantic searches by stylists in the store led me to this. I could not have been happier. It fit perfectly, albeit just a tiny bit snug in my pouch area. But that was to be expected because it is a regular occurrence with all items that I either rent or borrow that have no elasticized waist bands. What was great about this dress was that it was fun and flirty, and ladies it had pockets! I paired the dress with a some fun and flirty high heels. It is true to size, but I can see that if you have a broad back or somewhat of a pouch i.e., a tummy, this may not work for you. Again, the waist band is fitted. The back of the dress is a criss cross, which took me some time to figure out how to maneuver it over my head. Once it was on, it felt quite fitted, and there was not enough room to realistically wear a bra. Tiny girls up top, you will be fine. But, for my busty fabulous ladies, this dress may be tough to wear. Overall, it was a great alternative to my original dresses that were maxi evening, yet casual, choices. I was complimented all evening about the dress, which means it was a win!

Milestone event
Classified as "petite" and at 5-feet even (short and small framed), so there's no 1/4 of an inch or 1/8 inch to speak of, the jumpsuit was long, even in 4-inch heels. However, with careful--very careful--"hemming" using temporary double-sided fabric tape, it was AH-mazing. It gave the illusion of me being much taller than I am (even before I added the heels), which was great. If you have a flat stomach, you're good. But, if you've got a little pouch, you'll have to suck it in ladies. BTW, you will need someone to zip you up. Forget thinking you can do this yourself. With the design in the back of essentially have two zippers (take a look at RTR's photo), unless you have cartoon-like arms that wrap around, make sure you've someone to help to. Another thing, and I eluded to this, because of the length, if you are on the short side, you already know the world isn't built for us. We can never reach ::anything:: and we can't wear everything "off the rack" without alterations. When you use the double-sided fabric tape, keep in mind that there's the lace overlay on the top and the underlay that gives the jumpsuit a beautiful, albeit nudish illusion. Fold both under, yes, both, at the same time, and you will need to double-side tape both underneath. Difficult to explain, but be prepared for a little focused work. I was complimented THE ENTIRE NIGHT. My hair up and because of the full lace design, I only adorned with earrings. Leave the chunky necklaces at home. BTW, shoes: Steve Madden "Fiffi" Sandal in Silver Metallic.

Family events are always unforgettable, especially when you feel as good as you look. :-)
At 5-feet even, I thought the dress would be too long in the back even with 4-inch heels, but it was perfect, and very flattering because there was an illusion that the dress would be somewhat boring, but there was "action" in the back (both in length and with the decorative sheer). Also, the dress was very well made with quality materials. Another important note: It was age-appropriate. Too many things are teenager-y when you are petite. Best of all: POCKETS!!! OMG! Shoes: Badgley Mischka with crystal embellishments; Clutch: from Charming Charlie (I was shocked; it matched my shoes!)
