My favorite dress so far from Rent the Runway!

I wore this for my engagement photos and absolutely loved it! I almost didn't want to give it back (but luckily for the other customers I did LOL)! It is as beautiful in person as it is in the photo, with beautiful detailing on the embroidery. I loved this highly unique design, which I haven't seen anywhere else. I got even random compliments from strangers on the street on how beautiful it is, during my photo shoot. My friends can't stop raving about it after seeing the photos. It also fits true to size, and beautifully accentuates your waist line (I usually wear a size 4 and the 42R fit me just fine). However, there are a few little negatives to be aware of. It fits a bit tight at the waist and doesn't have any stretch, so I wouldn't eat a big meal with this! The zipper also tends to get stuck and doesn't run smoothly (my fiancee had to zip me into it). Also, for you taller ladies, be aware that the slip that this comes with may run short on you. I'm 5'4" and the slip was just enough to cover me (hit at my upper thigh). I thought that it may not adequately cover anyone taller though (so taller women may need to provide their own slip--and it is too transparent to wear without a slip. You can see the lines of the slip in my photos, so you see how sheer it is). The material also got a bit scratchy at times (not enough to make me not want to wear it, but it's not the most comfortable thing I ever wore either). Altogether though, I loved how this looked and photographed. It's absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny!

Got tons of compliments on it!

This is yet another winner from Herve Leger that is both sexy and classy. I wore it for my Valentine's Day out with my honey and he loved it so much that he almost didn't want me to return it! (but I explained that I had to haha) Like other Herve Leger dresses, it has a heavy material, that somehow manages to be comfortable. At first it goes on a bit tight, but then conforms comfortably to your body. I felt comfortable and beautiful wearing it. Give it a try!

Cute and delightful!

I just received this and was pleasantly surprised by it. No offense to whoever took this photograph, but I actually don't think this photo does the dress justice at all. In person the top has this really lovely black lace detailing that you can't quite see from this photo. The tiers in the dress are also finer in person. I plan to wear this for a speakeasy party and think it will be perfect for that, as a lot of other reviewers have also worn it for 1920s themed events. It has a slightly vintage feel to it (but could also just be worn as a general cocktail dress, since it isn't too costume-y either). I was also pleasantly surprised that it's more forgiving and comfortable than I thought it would be from the fit notes. I have a small chest but (relatively) curvier hips. I think that's the body type this dress is best suited for. There's an ever-so-slight gap in the chest area for me but, not so bad that I can't wear it. However, I was thinking that maybe larger chested girls might struggle with the top, if I'm an A-cup and it fit me so comfortably (and there isn't THAT much more room in there for a larger cup size). I actually didn't find it that tightly fitted over the hips and found it very flattering and forgiving in that area. It's also a bit shorter than I thought it would be (and I'm 5'4", not exactly Gisele Bundchen--I have short legs and usually wear petite size pants). So not sure if it'll be well suited to really tall girls. It might not be suited for girls with bigger chests or longer legs, but aside from those slight misgivings, I think this is a GREAT option for 1920s parties and wholeheartedly recommend it!

Perfect for adding pizazz to your LBD!

I'm wearing this tonight with my LBD for a friend's party, and it's perfect for adding a pop of color and dazzle to it! However, it is VERY bold, so I only recommend this if you're wearing a very dark, solid, plain dress otherwise (as I plan to tonight). I think that with a bolder dress color or any dress with a pattern it'd be too much. The necklace really does tend to take center stage. It isn't exactly featherlight (as you'd expect from looking at it and all the jewels). However, it's also not unreasonably heavy either--it's somewhere in between. Perfect for the LBD!

Disappointing

I hate to be the "Debbie Downer" to ruin all the love, but I have to admit I was very disappointed when I actually received this dress. It's all the more disappointing because I usually LOVE Badgley Mischka and am one of their biggest fans--most of my "favorites" are Badgley Mischka. I had also loved how it looks on this website photo. However, it just didn't work out well for me for whatever reason. On me, it looked sort of boxy and shapeless. I think you need to be an hourglass like this model for this to work (or a curvy Sophia Vergara type). On me it made me look like I have no waist at all. I'm really glad this dress worked out so well for so many other women but, just proceed with caution that it's not really universal and for every body type. If you're not an hourglass, I would recommend getting a second dress as a back up, just in case.

Wonderful classy dress!

I've rented this twice now and it's a wonderful classic piece to wear for a nice brunch, for a casual wedding or any time you want to look fabulous! I actually don't think it runs that large--it's large in the chest but pretty fitted in the waist and hips (or maybe that's just a sign I need to lose a few pounds!) This dress is very pretty and feminine. The fabric is also high quality and has a slight sheen to it in person. I actually don't think as much of the belt it comes with, to be honest (it's sort of a cheap plastic-y material, not up to the caliber of the dress). However, it's worth a rental for the dress itself, which is the most important part. Worth a look!

People said I looked like a movie star or model!

This is now my new favorite dress I have EVER rented! It is absolutely glorious, transcendant...there aren't enough glowing adjectives to describe it! I don't think any photo can truly do this dress justice...the beading and lace detail is just beautiful in person, and the layers of chiffon and beading fall beautifully over each other. It has that classy, Old Hollywood glamour to it. At the same time, it is extremely and surprisingly comfortable to wear. Even with the beading and sequins, it doesn't feel that heavy.. The inside is fully lined so your skin is shielded from the sequins and you don't get that scratchy feel (as you often do with unlined sequined dresses). I almost felt as comfortable in this dress as I do lounging around in my pajamas at home (although this is obviously much more beautiful!) It is loose fitting so I think I should have ordered a smaller size than I did...I got a larger size than what I usually wear because of the notes that this fabric has no stretch, but could have gone smaller. It also ran slightly long on me (guess I have short legs!) However, those are very, very minor quibbles and wearing this was more than worth it. I had people complimenting me all night about how gorgeous I looked in it! Thank you Rent the Runway for providing this dress at a more affordable price (sorry to say I don't have more than a $1000 to just chuck around...I'd otherwise have to say goodbye to paying rent and living expenses to wear this!)

I just heard people gushing and saying "wow" all night long!

This is my #1 favorite dress I've EVER gotten from Rent the Runway. That is saying something! As everyone else has said, be ready for a lot of attention in this showstopper! I wore it for a girls' night out, for my friend's birthday. All night long, both men and women complimented me on it. One woman actually stopped me in the bathroom to ask where I got it. The waiter at the restaurant actually said "wow" as I walked in. Some man at a bar we went to yelled out, "Hey, Sparkles!" Haha! It's MUCH more sparkly in person than it is in the photo, so it's difficult NOT to notice. I love the multicolored sequins, which gave it an interesting dimension you don't see often. The small fit me perfectly. I tried the medium as a back up, but it was way too baggy underneath the arms and around the waist to wear it (so it bunched up in a weird way). As you can see from all the customer photos, this is one of the rare and special dresses that can look great on all figures and body types. My only (mildly) negative comment is that at first, it is slightly itchy with the unlined sleeves. It also took a little while to get used to sitting on those sequins. However, I should say that I did get used to it, so it was very minor initial discomfort. After a while, I barely noticed it. The attention I got was more than worth it! You will absolutely shine in this dress and won't regret it! I'd keep it or purchase it if I could.

An attention getter!

I wore this for a girls' night out and it is just beautiful. I got compliments on it from random strangers all night, and it grabbed the attention of a lot of cute guys on the dance floor! It's great for evening since all the sparkles just capture the light. My only criticisms are that it ran a bit large in my chest, but then again, I'm an A cup so I could just be unusually small chested (could have used a 2). It was initially also a bit tricky to get on because the zipper got caught in the sequins (I eventually got it up though). Even that was more than worth it though. Another note, it is longer than it appears on the model (at least at my height, around 5'4"--I have less leg than this model does so of course it'll be longer on me!) Wear this to look classy, but still stand out!

Stunning dress!

I loved this dress and it got me compliments all night long! It does tend to run small with the boning underneath. I'm a pretty slim girl (5'4" and 115 pounds) but had to wear the size 6, although I'm normally about a size 2-4. I would select a size up for the back-up size. It's sexy and flirty without being slutty, and gives you that little edge. I felt comfortable dancing in it all night. It's worth a rental.

Great for us shorter ladies!

This was a perfect dress for my girls' night out for my birthday. I loved the multi-color sequins (green and gold) and the way it shimmered in the dark lights in the club. It's super-cute! However, I will say that everyone else is right and it does tend to run short, so wear it with black tights like the model. I'm only about 5'4". It was a decent length when I was just standing upright, but then it hiked up to dangerous territory whenever I sat down or bent over in any way! I don't know how it would be for the more statuesque ladies out there and they might need to size up just to get a longer length.

Vintage chic!

Alissa (one of the Rent the Runway stylists) recommended this to me, after I requested a recommendation for a Mad Men-themed wine tasting event I have coming up. It is a great pick, it's so Mad Men-esque! I just tried it on and it has a great, classic silhouette--I won't even need to add a whole lot of accessories to get that retro look I'm going for. It didn't have that much "hanger appeal" for me, but looks amazing when you put it on. I love Black Halo because they have form-fitting silhouettes that hug your curves in the right spots and look sexy while still being classy. However, don't let the form-fitting thing scare you--while it runs smaller than my other favorite brands (i.e. Marchesa Notte and Badgley Mischka), the fabric is still relatively forgiving and has some stretch, so it's still comfortable (and you can breathe!) My only minor quibble is that the zipper is a bit hard to run up and down, but for how I look in this, I'll deal with that. The arm holes are also loose on me. I love how it looks on me overall though. It makes my waist look so tiny. The photo actually doesn't quite do it justice, the best part of the dress is the neckline--it doesn't lie flat like the photo, but actually pops up a bit and has an interesting, origami-like look to it. I'm also not sure how it would look on shorter women. I'm 5'4" and on me, it hits right below my knee. It's a longer hemline than I'm used to, but since I'm trying to dress for a 1960s theme party, I don't mind because then it'll look more authentic (and dresses back then tended to be longer). Worth a look!
