Wish it had fit me :( beautiful dress!
Up close, this was a quite beautiful dress with gorgeous embroidery/lacework overlay. However, the combination of that overlay and heavy fabric underneath made it a very structured and unforgiving fit. I am pear shaped and neither size I tried worked at all. The smaller size was a little bit tight in the hips (it has a "mermaid" style fitted hip) and yet the bust still gaped. The larger size was comfortable in the hips but looked even more ridiculous on top. I thought about trying to pin it at the armholes to make it work, but it is SO structured that there were still distinct empty-bra-cup shapes when I tried to gather the extra fabric a bit. I would have needed to pad it and I am not into that. Unfortunately I think this is the kind of dress you need to get professionally altered to fit you if your body is not a standard size in height, bust, waist, and hip proportions, or else be willing to do what it takes with padding and spanx.

Great statement piece
After all 3 of my RTR dresses fell through on fit problems (please bring more drape-y and/or A-line styles back into fashion!! structured mermaid dresses are not forgiving!!), I ended up wearing an old gown from my closet to my gala fundraiser. This piece stole all the attention and allowed me to feel quite festive despite the old dress. It was a Roaring 20s theme and while I had been worried it might be over the top, it was not at all, and very harmonious with the theme. Also quite warm, which I appreciated in some of the chilly and outdoor event areas!

not a festive dress, but formal and high quality
This dress did not fit me, I am pear shaped and it was much too large in the bust. There was gaping by the arm holes and extra bust fabric hanging around weirdly. It's fitted at bust, waist, AND hips so probably best to make sure your measurements all fit within the size guide to make it work, not much room for error. I am tall (5'10.5") and the Long was reasonably well proportioned for my height, just not my shape. If it fit me, it would be have been a bit too boring for my festive fundraising event, but elegant for a different formal event, and could be livened up with accessories.

It was an okay basic style, would be a good bridesmaid dress. It is very fitted and just did not fit me. Waist in the wrong spot, hips too fitted, etc. I am 5'10.5" and pear shaped with tall proportions and the Long did not seem proportioned for tall women, more for average height women in high heels.

This was my back-up, I ended up wearing a different faux-furry jacket which I loved and fit me better. The colors look brighter and patchier in person than in the photos. Would be good for a party where people are dressing a little crazy/fun/silly. Not exactly formal though, in my opinion. A little too kooky for the event I was dressing for. Also runs a bit small. I have a 35" bust and narrow shoulders, and it was too small to fasten on me. Even unfastened it was pulling in the shoulders/back, not really workable. No stretch or give to the structure of it. Definitely size up if in doubt! It was still a fun looking piece and would be really fun to wear for the right occasion!

Warm and created a fun glam look
I am tall, 5'11" with long arms. I always worry about jacket sleeves covering my arms but this jacket easily went to my wrists. The elastic cuffs would make it work on someone with much shorter arms too, though. It was warm, the "fur" was really pretty with depth of coloration that is hard to see in photos, and it was absolutely the star of my outfit. I wore it to a gala auction fundraising event where some bar/social areas were outside (cold February in Northern California) and some rooms were not well heated. I was so glad I rented it! LOVE this piece! Tons of compliments on how glamorous I looked and I know it wasn't for my old plain polyester gown I wore underneath the jacket :) Would absolutely rent again.
