Even though this dress is black (sort of) you won't go unnoticed. Compliments from all around! Easy to wear. I'm 5' 6.5", 125lbs, straight figure. The small and medium both fit me. The small fit better in the shoulders and chest (I'm a 34B), but I went with the medium so I had more room for comfort (and for more dinner, of course. ;-) ) Go with your usual size and size up for backup, especially if you have wider hips. Fabric is not stretchy. But this dress is amazing - rent it!

This dress has it all! The gold embellishments are beautiful and have a nice shimmer to them. It's sexy yet classy, showing off your silhouette but not being too revealing. And then the bottom makes it soooo fun on the dance floor and unlike all the other dresses out there! I felt like this dress was made for my body - so easy to wear and flattering. It's also very comfortable. I'm 5'6 1/2" and wore 5" heels. The dress touched the floor when I walked, hiding my heels but not making it difficult to walk, which is the *perfect* length. This dress also comes with lots of compliments, so be prepared! ;-)

This dress is stunning. The minute I pulled it out of the box I knew it was going to be amazing. The gold threading sparkles and it's soooo gorgeous and eye-catching in person. This was my back up dress so I only had one size ordered, a 4L. 4L is my usual size and this one was a tad bit snug but still wearable. It's also a bit short for a "long" size. I'm 5' 6.5" and all my heels are 5"+. With 5" heels, this dress was about an inch off the floor (I prefer that my dresses just touch the floor). Even so, this dress was just so lovely the small issues seemed like nothing. Many compliments, easy to wear, not itchy, and seriously gorgeous.

Many of the reviews suggested this dress ran small, so I ordered a 4R and a 6R (usually a 4, sometimes even a 2). I don't have much of a waist (pretty straight and kind of wide) so the 6 fit best in the ribs/waist for me. I am also small chested 4R was a better fit for the chest, but went with the 6R so I could breathe and eat dinner. :) Also, I am 5' 6 1/2" and went with the regular instead of the long, but it was still plenty long on me (see picture). I thought it would be shorter, but that wasn't a big deal. As for quality, up close you could tell the dress had been worn quite a bit (mostly on the top, you could tell) but it was still fine to wear. And the tulle - there's lottttttttts of it. So if you want the dress to look like the model, be prepared to invest some time into steaming it. It comes folded (obviously in the box) and the tulle is difficult to flatten. After all is said and done, this dress is really fun! At first I felt like I was wearing an enormous loofa, but after I got used to the dress it was so fun to wear! This dress also comes with plenty of compliments as it's a standout. :)

I wore the 4L. I'm just under 5'7" and rocked 5-6" heels, and the dress still touched the floor (perfectly). I wore this for both my "holiday glam" family photos and also to a formal gala the same night. The dress' fabric is a bit stretchy but still holds form. The gold back is stunning and makes a simple black gown a true standout in the crowd. Overall, this dress was easy to wear and totally glamorous. I loved it!

I think this dress just wasn't made for my body. I tried it on and felt frumpy. The quality felt nice but it did not flatter my shape (I don't have much curve and am a slim, athletic build). Even with the tall slit, I didn't think the dress looked as sexy on me as it did on many of the other girls and the model. Hit or miss on this one...maybe pay attention to the figure of those who looked good in the dress.

I ordered a S and an XS, but since I tried the small on first and it fit I didn't even bother putting on the XS. Dress is fitted, like all Herve Ledger dresses, but shorter than a lot of the other ones. It did bunch up a tiny bit, but it didn't bother me. I am pretty small chested so I didn't wear a bra at all, but you could if you wanted to fill out the dress. I went with silver accessories but there are plenty of options that would work with this dress. Overall, it was really fun to wear and I got compliments as usual when I rock a Rent the Runway dress. Loved it!

I really liked the pattern on this dress and I usually spend quite a bit of time going through reviews to find other girls that are similar to my size/shape, but this one just didn't pan out for me. Compared to the other girls who are 5'6" - 5'7" with similar bodies, when I put the dress on it was much longer on me. Granted I do have longer legs and a shorter torso, but I was still shocked that the dress - when fit properly - was hitting below mid-thigh. It almost looks like a mini on some of the girls, so I was hoping it'd be shorter. (I'm not very curvy so longer, tight dresses don't do much for my figure.) I ordered a small and a medium after reading that you have to squeeze into the dress, but perhaps had I ordered an XS it may have been shorter. If I tried to scrunch it up a bit, the fabric looked weird and under garment lines (bra, underwear) were more apparent because of the excess fabric. And unfortunately I didn't have a chance to try these on until it was too late to order something else. All in all, I was really wanting to wear this dress because I think it looks really cute on the other girls who have posted pictures in their reviews, but it didn't look the same on me as it did on the other girls my size. :( Super cute on everyone else...

Wow - this dress is smokin' hot!!! I am just under 5'7" / 120lbs and the small worked great (medium was a little too roomy for me). I'm guessing I could have fit into an extra small (so if you prefer a really snug fit, size down) because the fabric is stretchy. But the small fit well around my hips/butt with a little room in the waist (which is weird because I don't have a narrow waist - I'm pretty straight). The dress did ride up in the back a little so I had to adjust/pull it down after sitting usually, but I wasn't bothered by that. You can see through the lace, so be careful if you're wearing a bra. I wore a Victoria's Secret Style Secrets underwire with adhesive sides - worked like a charm! To complete my look, I paired the dress with a statement necklace and some black pumps, and just like that - holy hotness! I have rented this dress twice now. It's the perfect combination of classy and sexy. I wish I owned it!

This was my back up dress and I did not end up wearing it. The color is beautiful and eye-catching, and the dress seems to be made well. I probably would have ordered a smaller size (0L) but this was my back up so I only had the 2L. I'm not very curvy (athletic and straight but not narrow), so the waistline didn't sit well on my body (because I don't have a curve). But it looks gorgeous on the ladies in the other review pictures so unless you're as straight as I am you could probably rock this dress!

I'm just under 5'7", 120lbs, and smaller-chested. I wore the 2L but needed a bra to fill out the top (otherwise it was a little looser). Without a bra I probably would have wanted a 0L. I also wore some sassy 5-6" heels and I was still catching the front of the dress occasionally when walking. The regular probably wouldn't have been long enough, but for reference - this dress is very long. This dress is UNBELIEVABLY gorgeous in person. The colors are stunning and the gold spots are metallic so they really catch the light. AMAZING. This is my favorite rental dress ever. Easy to wear, unique, comfortable and seriously beautiful.

This dress is very pretty and I was DYING to wear it, but the boning was sticking out and poking my ribs so I couldn't wear it. :( I contemplated wearing the dress with spanx in hopes that it would minimize the poking (or at least make it harder to get poked throughout the night) but since since I didn't NEED the spanx (this dress has a lacy texture so it doesn't show off imperfections), I was irritated by the idea because spanx and not fun when you have to go to the bathroom. Bottom line - this is a beautiful dress and I'm really sad I didn't get to wear it, but as long as the dress you order doesn't have the boning issues mine did you will love it.

This was my backup dress but I ended up wearing it because the boning was poking out of my first choice dress - ouch! I'm usually between a size 4 and 6 so, against my better judgment after practically studying the reviews, I conservatively went with the 6L. If I order this again I will size DOWN to the 4L because I could have gone for a tighter fit. Since the 6L wasn't quite hugging my body the way I wanted (I'm pretty straight and curve-less), I wore spanx under the dress and a strapless bra to help hold my shape (otherwise I could see my belly button, which bothers me) and fill out the chest. I'm also just shy of 5'7" and I love tall heels. I wore 4 1/2-5" inch heels and the bottom of the dress just touched the ground, which was perfect. Other than that, the dress was in great condition and I got plenty of compliments. I'd definitely recommend this dress.

This was my backup dress and I didn't end up wearing it, but - of course - I had to try it on! It's a nice dress that seems like it'd be flattering to most shapes and beautiful on. The particular dress I was sent was damaged and looked very worn. At the time it I rented (feb 2012) it didn't dawn on me to review (since I didn't wear it) but had I known then how awesome the customer service is at RTR I probably would have recommended taking the dress I received out of circulation. Had my first choice not worked out the dress I was sent wouldn't have even been a backup option for me because of the apparent damage (mostly the bottom of the dress - stringy hem and apparent wear). But one in better condition would probably be fabulous.

I didn't wear this dress because it was my back up dress and the dress I planned on wearing worked, but it was too long for me and also a little big. I'm a small C and there was definitely room for some more "chest" in the dress. I also like a really tall heel but this was still too tall for me. If I wanted to wear this dress I think the 4R would probably be best for me.

I rented this dress for a black tie gala. It's beautiful and could fit a variety of body types. I was nervous about ordering the "R" size since I'm just under 5'7" and I love a tall heel, but it was perfect. I wore 4" heels and it was just above the ground so I wasn't tripping. I do think I would have preferred to have one size smaller as I didn't quite fill out the top even with a strapless bra (I'm a 34 small C), but only the 40R was available. The dress is only fitted in the bust area so if you don't have much up there and are debating between two sizes, go with the smaller size if you can't get both. Overall, I thought the dress was gorgeous and it came in excellent condition - I'd definitely recommend it!
