I ended up wearing the back-up style rather than this dress, but that's because I loved the second option so much. This dress is gorgeous, and would work perfectly for a formal function. The zipper works smoothly. It fits to size, though the 8P was a bit shorter than I'd like since I'm 5'8 and was wearing 2-3 inch heels. In the picture, I'm wearing the 10R size. The length was great and it didn't feel big. So, I would say the 8P fits to size, but the 10R runs small, since it didn't feel loose.

The color of the skirt really pops, and it doesn't feel heavy. The dress was slightly big, but not too noticeable. The zipper sticks at points, but goes up fully with some patience. I wore 2-3 inch heels, so no risk of it touching the floor in the back. With flats, it would have been pretty close. Definitely wear with a great pair of shoes, because it definitely highlights your feet.
