Material is one layer of thin stretchy fabric- no zippers or anything because there is no structure. for anyone with a small chest, the lack of structure and open back means that its gaping on the sides under the arm pits if you aren't standing in the exact right position. It is also tight until below the hips, so there is nothing to hide or flatter the lower-belly. Looks like a conservative choir dress from the front. I did not wear it.

Loved this dress! Was perfect for a Cinco-de-mayo wedding. Because of the other reviews, I was worried about the cut outs, but the XS was perfect and even allowed me to eat since it flairs out at the waist. I have a small chest and short torso, I could see that if you were either long in the torso or had a bigger chest how it could fit awkwardly. There was a huge difference between the 4 and the 6. The lace from the 6 extended further below the lining so that it would have gone past my knees. I went with the 4. Not being busty, it was very low cut. I used fashion tape to stop my bra from showing. The lace and vertical seam down the center do not do much for hiding any tummy. That being said, it is still beautiful. I got lots of complements. The color is more purple than the wine in the picture.
