I was paranoid and ended up ordering this in several sizes. I had read other reviews that said it was snug in the hips. It is....but not so much that I needed to go up an entire size. The fabric is thicker, but I wore it in Arizona outside and I felt fine. I ended up not using this one, but someone else wore it and LOVED it. I thought that since I am short (5'1") it would look longer on me. Not the case. In fact, it looked terrible.....TERRIBLE......on me because I am bottom heavy.....my hips and thighs looked more gigantic than usual.....the shape was all wrong for me. I did love that it had the shorts in it and again, the person who wore it looked amazing in it and LOVED it. It is a super fun dress but it did not work for me.

If you typically have trouble with larger hips but you are small everywhere else, then this isn't the right dress for you. It ended up looking much dressier than expected. I didn't wear this one since it was my back up. But, I was glad I didn't need to. I'm about 5'1" 130 and I am more bottom heavy, but it was very snug in the hip area.Other 6's fit me. This one did "fit" but it did not look good. My first choice was also a 6 and it fit fine.
