unforgiving at waist and shoulders
Pretty pattern, but odd waist-skirt ratio. No elastic at waist and no give at shoulders (couldn't raise my arms above my head). But a size up would have been too big at the bust and hips. Note the belt can't be removed.

Unforgiving fabric
At first I thought I would have to return both dresses ahead of the event, because even my top-size 6 would not zip above the middle of my back. Luckily, my husband was able to finesse it and I skimped on meals ahead of the gala for a better fit. I still think the almost-Empire waist wasn't as flattering as a lower waist would have been. But it looked good in motion and had attractive detail on the sleeves without being flouncy.

Pretty summer dress
Worn to a casual embassy event and fit in well with the other looks. Low neckline so I used tape to ensure no peekaboos. Would not wear to work. Good below-the-knee length.

Worn to Fifth Avenue shops, a Broadway show, drinks and a semi-casual dinner. A little long on me (I'm 5'5") and the skirt was fuller than I usually wear, but it felt good and I received compliments.

I ordered a 4R as backup, but a 0P would have been better since even with the high-waist drawstring the 2P was still slightly loose. One advantage to that was being able to zip/button/tie everything myself. Length in front just above toes in 2.5-inch heels. It was comfortable and flowy, but I would have liked the fluttery arm pieces to be more attached at the top -- they mostly just hung down and added some interest to what was basically a sleeveless top. Low cut in front, but the top layer adds extra coverage.

Wore it to a formal military ball and it fit in well while being distinctive.
I am 5'5" and about 130 pounds, so I had to wear 3" heels to keep the skirt from dragging -- note that it has a slight train in back. The fit was very comfortable. Wore it with Spanx nylons underneath to ensure a smooth line, but the fabric is thick enough to take care of most of that.
