I have always been a size 4 in pants and rented smalls/4 with no issue (even in other mermaid cuts), but this dress is not designed for anyone with hips. The size 4 was much too tight on the bottom and the 6 was also tight on the bottom while it was very loose on top. I was able to make the 6 work with safety pins, but was still uncomfortable. I think part of the problem is that the material is very thin and has no give, so it must fit like a glove to look right. I would recommend renting a backup if you want to try this dress.

I am not pregnant but I rented this dress because Show me your Mumu has this listed as both a maternity and non maternity maxi on their website and recommends sizing up if you're pregnant. I wore my usual size (small, regular) which was a bit tight at the top of the bust but looser at the bottom of the bust, making the fit a bit weird on me (34B for reference). The straps tie so the length can be adjusted easily.
