LIKE WEARING ART
I LOVED, LURVED, LOAFED this dress. I want to wear it every damn day. I'm not one to wear things that button right up to my neck, but I looked past all that just to make this work. The fabric and pattern/design/art were so beautiful, I felt like a walking canvas. It's one of those dresses that can be casual, but also dressed up with some fancier heels and earrings. This dress is extremely open to a variety of personal touches and accessories. The best part is, you can move and shake as much as you want in this. I'm a 4, and while my UK equivalent would have been a 6, it's listed as an 8 on here, so that's what I went with. I didn't get a good picture of me in it, but previous reviewers had great pics, so I defer to them. The dress did have belt loops, and things stayed in place. Definitely prone to wrinkling in its silkiness, but it wasn't a big deal (less noticeable with the colors and patterns). It's true that this is more of a creative look rather than a sexy head-turner, but it's stunning in its own unique way.

Color and design = PERFECTION! Not great to move in + delicate overlay, but might be worth it!
I'm most often a size 4. This dress looked pretty fitted, but despite recent junk food binges, I'm glad I sized down rather than up. The 2 ended up being ideal (with the help of a waist cincher). This Marchesa gown might work best for bustier ladies with smaller waists. While the 2 fit me like a glove below the bust line, it was too large in the shoulders/arms/chest. The nude overlay wrinkled up with movement and the folds took away from the elegance of the dress. The sleeves flared out just a touch too much. I don't have bony arms, so I can't imagine what it would look like on the super-petite. Fleshier-armed ladies can probably rock this better than others. I ended up not wearing this to the event because I noticed a small 1.5" tear in the lacy overlay fabric; while it wasn't noticeable at all, I was afraid that any movement would have caused it to expand. RTR was fabulous as always, and remedied the situation quickly and gracefully. While this dress is without argument GORGEOUS, it is also very delicate and movement restricting. As mentioned, I would recommend getting this in your regular size, but only if you are curvier on top and can fill it out so that it doesn't look quite as baggy. If I had worn it, I would have opted for the 2 to bypass the comically baggy top portion, but my stomach area/waist would have been happier in my usual 4. I'm still giving this dress five stars, though, because it is absolutely lovely and the color is luscious. If you have the right shape, it will probably be one of the best dresses you'll ever rent from RTR! Not a "get-down-and-dirty-on-the-dancefloor" dress, but great for standing around and feeling fancy. It'll work on short and tall ladies alike.

This is a beautiful dress; I was really excited about it! With that said, I personally wasn't able to wear it when I received it, for a number of reasons. Here are some of the reasons why: 1. This dress is (obviously) thin and lacy. It is not forgiving. I would not recommend this dress for anyone who is even a little concerned about their stomach area. The patterned criss-cross of the lace would be well-suited for hour-glass figures with tiny waists. It made me look a bit log-like, and you cannot wear it with a corset because of the cut-out back. (I wear a 26"-27" in pants.) 2. You will need a backless, push-up Nu-Bra type of undergarment. (They run around $50-$60 at Macy's!) I am an big A/small B-cup, and had a bra on, but it was still unflattering. (I am 5'3", 120 lbs., and ordered the size small.) 3. I have a longer torso for my size, but the straps were still a bit loose/stretched out (and looked thinner than on the model). The cut-out design on the back was also loose and flappy. 4. The slip did seem like it had a tendency to ride up while I was walking around the room to test it out, as per other users' reviews. This may be due to certain areas of the dress being too big. Bottom Line: This dress has the potential to be gorgeous, but it fits a very limited population. Because of the material, the likelihood of the dress being a bit stretched is likely. In person, the dress looks like it would be suitable for a night on the town, as opposed to a fancy affair (like a wedding.) I would say it's worth a shot, if you have enviable flat abs and can fill out the dress on top. Definitely get a back-up dress for if/when it doesn't work out.
