This brand is great for pulling you in with comfort. Not tight but the material is forgiving and could do with a bra too. No need for Spanx but you could wear them underneath. I am between a 4 and 6 and I went with the 42 so it was slightly loose but probably would have been a little tighter around my thighs which is definitely my largest part. When I need a dress I always look for this brand because it always flattering.

At 55, I was a little concerned by the slit that goes up to the top of the thigh but honestly, the material was so comfy and the slit stayed put that I loved it, especially because it was modest and high neck on top. Super comfortable and the ruching would make everyone look great. Highly recommend for a daytime or evening weekend- I wore it to a Miami Beach formal evening event. It was nice to stand out in a sea of solids.

Beautiful dress for a welcome cocktail party at a destination wedding in Miami Beach. Comfortable and has pockets! At my height 5’5”, the midi was a little longer than expected but with heels, it still looked great. The bust area was big, at least a c cup to fill it but with a sticky bra and some tape, it looked great. You could fit a strapless bra underneath but I didn’t want to worry about it peaking through the back straps. The zipper was the most annoying part of the size 4 - trick is to hook the top first then pull up.

Marchesa’s fabric is beautiful. I am usually a size 4 but this did run tight around the hips for those pear-shaped people like myself. As mentioned before the shoulders do you fall down a little bit if you’re not sitting up perfectly straight but they don’t fall down when you’re standing. It was a beautiful dress for a special occasion highly recommend it especially for a fall or winter event

I am 5,5" 128 34 B and I usually wear a size 4. The 40 fit perfectly and the built in cups allowed me to not even need a strapless bra (shoulder straps are illusion) however a C or D cup would fill out the top even better. The fabric was very comfortable and pulled me in like Spanx so you really don't need to wear any underneath but you can if you want. The gathers around the tush and hips are great if you have a little tummy to hide. Love the dress and got compliments all night long. Highly recommended it!

Loved the dress but I choose to go up to the 6/42 because the material, although very stretchy, I was worried that the 4 (my normal size) pulled across my butt too much but it did fit up top. The material is nice and heavy so it's like spanx so no need to wear any!

I'm 5'5" and 128 and usually wear a size 4. The other reviewers were correct it's quite fitted in the bodice I'm very muscular and small on top so it fit me just right. I'm heavier on bottom so the size 4 worked great for me but I could see if you are bustier than a B you will need to go up in size. Got lots of compliments, loved the quality of the fabric very 1950s Elizabeth Taylor would definitely rent this again.
