I ended up wearing the M slip with the L dress for the slightly longer sleeves; however, the M fit fine otherwise and I could have gotten away wearing either. The fabric is stretchy which makes the fit forgiving.

Loved this dress! I rented it for a black-tie wedding. I am tall (5' 11") and am never able to find full-length dresses that are long enough for me. I picked this one based on reviews by some other tall ladies on RTR. The 8L did fit well but I ended up wearing the 10L because I was convinced it was a tiny bit longer :) The length was perfect with flats, and the larger size looked fine since the dress is belted at the waist. I wore my own belt though, because the one it came with was too loose. As others have noted, the slit is VERY high. I pinned it about 6 inches down and that worked well.
