This is a flouncy, fun blouse! I agree with other RTR reviewers; it's a manrepeller style but SO cute, super comfortable, and mostly ladies are the ones to give notice. It's not sheer at all so technically you can wear it alone, but I was self-conscious about visibility at angles between boob buttons so I chose to wear a cami underneath. There's handy elastic at the cuffs so you can hike the sleeves up your arms (and they stay in place!) with ease if desired. I gave a presentation at work in front of a huge crowd and felt like I owned the room!

Thank you RTR community for the sizing recs, so I ordered a larger size than normal. This is a sexy AF dress due to the shiny material and slinky draping, but the long sleeves keep it classy. It's noticeably short (and I'm only 5' tall!) but as long as you're comfortable with that fact, it's the perfect party dress for the edgy-glam inclined. I wore it to an awards ceremony in NYC and I was confident I was one of the best dressed. On me the neckline plunged a bit so I wore nippies but you could probably pull this off with a plunge-neck bra. Be forewarned—you will get compliments!

This was extremely comfortable! A+ for stylish wearability. I felt like I was wearing a sleepshirt all day at work (but looking wayyy better). The dark navy part is like a thin-medium sweatshirt material, the burnt orange part somewhat like raw silk/damask texture, and the light ivory part a silky/chiffon-like blouse. I think it's a subtle piece, where you could wear it anywhere and it's a bit of an artsier take on a slouchy tshirt. The fit is relaxed and roomy, so even though I would call it "true to size," it's meant to be loose and slightly trapeze-y. Size down if you're on the fence. The only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5 is that the neckline is fairly narrow/high (be mindful when pulling this on with glasses or makeup on). It's not the hugest deal but personally I prefer a slightly more open neckline.

This was ladyboss perfection. I wore it over a simple black dress, and I got compliments all day at work. It looks extremely designer and expensive (sheen, colors, structure), and yet it has a bit of an edge because it has a slightly shrunken silhouette (both length and sleeves are short) but the shape brings in a chic voluminousness. My favorite detail is that the elastic cuffs have an innovative design that's both stylish and functional (it's a thicker rib that morphs into a zig zag knit and then a finer rib). Would be cute both zipped or unzipped. It's heavier than a blazer but not as warm as a coat, so it's a perfect layering piece or for mild-weather days. Would rent again 100%!

i rented this for a date night out at the theatre. the dress is super elegant and made of a rich, red, sumptuous fabric. there's a little stretch, but it's still structured. i went with the 10 since it fit well around the waist/hips area and i didn't want to get much tighter; the only minor thing is that the straps were a smidgen too long, but i'm short and that's a normal issue and nothing particular to this dress. it's classy yet just flirty enough; it's a great date dress but also would be perfect for a cocktail party or even an upscale work social event. would highly recommend and tempting to rent again.

wore this for the amazing royksopp / robyn concert with my date. i got compliments from complete strangers left and right. the romper is really comfy and i can see the tie top accommodating small and large busts alike. i was dancing all night, and the outfit was easy-to-wear enough; after a long night there was a tiny bit of sequin irritation between my legs and there's some boning wires that poke out a little. but overall, it wasn't less comfortable than any other sort of party outfit—and this one boasts total and secure coverage! i felt like a million bucks. accessorized with a gold vintage necklace, a black leather jacket, and black leather booties.

i wore this for my sister's 40th "red-carpet hollywood" themed birthday party, and i got compliments all night. the fabric has an expensive-looking weight and it's not high-wattage lamé; the effect is more of a more burnished glimmery gold. i am only 5' tall, so the gown was a bit long for me, but i just wore my super-tallest heels—jeffrey campbell platforms, you can look up the "damsel" studded wedge for reference—and they worked! the back is really elegant with the strap in the back. you pretty much have to go braless on this one due to the plunging neckline and the open back. i'd advise getting some fashion tape so you don't have any surprises when you get on the dancing floor! i would totally rent this dress again, and potentially trying the 4R as well (it runs quite roomily).

i was hosting a valentine's day party at my place, and i wanted to be comfortable handling things all night but also turn heads where i could :) i absolutely LOVED this dress, and i would definitely consider renting this in the future (not something to say lightly). i got constant compliments, and it was extremely comfortable because of the slightly stretchy fabric (fit like a glove) and i felt like everything fell in the right place and stayed there. the lace is gorgeous and the wrists are finished with a delicate scalloped hem. the fit is very flattering; the lace parts that extend to the front create a nice notch to flatter the waist. it's a bit more daring than i expected, but that's good—it's definitely on the sexier end of things (not matronly) so don't wear it to a funeral or more conservative occasion, but it would be great to wear to a wedding or something like that. considerations: the lace part is all over the back and sort of cuts into the sides, so i went braless (and i think that's the best look). if you're nervous about going braless or at all self-conscious about potential side boob, it's right on the border. however the dress is fitted with a modest neckline and a nice thickness of fabric, so it holds everything in well. also i'm on the short side, and the length was perfect. however, if you're taller, the dress hem might be on the high side for some folks.

i had originally ordered the herve leger temptation rising dress, but the previous renter didn't return it on time, so RTR sent this dress as a substitute (it's a more expensive rental, so thank you RTR!). the colors were similar and it looked cute, so i thought i'd give it a shot. i usually wear an 8, but the 6 fit (the distance between shoulders are the most fitted part of the dress) and it's quite stretchy, so if you are nervous about anything fitting your middle or hips, it's very accommodating. that said, i feel like this dress is trying to be figure-flattering (lots of ruching, stretchy fabric, bright and fun colors), but it's also kind of frumpy. it's just long enough to feel a touch longer than a flirty cocktail or party dress should be, the fabric around the front does not do any favors (there was a real opportunity to use the colors as an hourglass-making optical illusion, and they missed it), and the fabric is a thin enough that the area around the belly shows every bump and lump (the worst area to highlight detail). i hate to say it, but i think this dress only works truly well for the super skinny or the pregnant—anything in between is sort of a crapshoot.

i love bold, un-dainty jewelry, and this piece makes a statement for sure. each section of the necklace is solid but hinged to the next, so the entire necklace has some movement and adjusts as needed and lies nicely. the color is kind of an antique-y, touch-of-bronze to the gold, but it's expensive-looking and doesn't look cheap. it's just not your usual super-shiny gold or pale gold color. it's a bit warmer. i got this just for fun—i figured i could dress up whatever outfit i could drum up for the weekend. you could go casual or formal with this, but it's definitely an eye-catching piece. i will say that the neckline is very striking, so types of tops i think it would look perfect with are a simple t-shirt, a plunging v-neck, or a strapless dress (probably the best look). pairing this with a scoop neck or v-neck might be challenging. i could also see someone wearing this with a sharp oxford shirt for a super chic look for work. as for me, i wore it at a friend's party (he complimented me afterwards on the necklace specifically!) over a leather top, and then later that weekend while bowling in t-shirt and jeans. i would definitely rent this again, and it's a perfect match for any type of look, from going out dancing to a polished professional event. i will say it's on the heavier side, so if you're sensitive to feeling metal on your skin, this may not be the one for you.

i really, really, really wanted to wear this dress, but it was just not meant to be (on my body). pros: the 8 was quite comfy in the waist and hips—it just skims over your lower body in a beautiful hourglass drape. from the waist down, it wasn't restrictive or tight or uncomfortable in the slightest. the print is super elegant and reminiscent of some of alexander mcqueen's designs, and the silk/wool fabric is luminous, has a nice weight, and could work in any type of season. the A-line shape is very flattering. cons: the top only zips up if one has a smaller than average ribcage or bustline. it was ridiculously challenging to zip it up (i'm 36C / usually size 8) and it was a losing battle. when i got the 10 (it came after being in the RTR shop for repairs) i thought that the larger size would at least fit. nope—even that was just as tight as the 8 on the top. i just couldn't move the zipper higher than my bra strap :( i'm not sure if the slim-fitting torso is indicative of prabal gurung's fit in general, or just particular to this dress silhouette, but i think this style and i are not meant to be. (still love you, prabal!)

short version: although the size was "M" and a normal size for me, it probably would be best suited for someone who wears a 2 or 4 dress size, but with a generous bust (or an amazingly padded strapless bra) to keep it up. long version: i laughed when i tried this dress on, since the zipper (it goes up the side, so that's a big advantage if you're dressing up without an extra pair of hands available to help!) was seriously gaping open. i probably had a good 6 inches of flesh keeping the zipper from closing. the bodice is super tiny. a couple of slimmer co-workers i foisted this dress on could zip up the dress, but the bust area would gape unless one was well-endowed (not too crazy, but anything less than a C cup would risk having a wardrobe malfunction). the dress itself is adorable and super unique, so it's too bad i wasn't able to wear it. a plea for RTR: make this dress available in L and XL, pretty please!

this was my first RTR and the process was extremely clear and i love seeing the dresses on real people! i usually wear an 8, so i got an 8 and a 6. the 8 fit perfectly, and my taller co-worker tried on the 6--you can see how this dress looks great on pretty much anybody. the fabric has a tiny (and welcome) bit of stretch, and the fabric is high quality. it's very forgiving and flattering (the white insets on the sides visually cinches the waist). unfortunately it's FREEZING in boston so i wore this dress with tights, and the waistband of my tights were a bit visible (or at least I was self-conscious about it), so some people might look into smoothing garments, especially since there's a definite waist line built into the dress design. but the overall fit is perfect and feminine. i got a ton of compliments at the party (half hipsters, half media professionals). i would also suggest a strapless bra since the dress straps are set a little narrower than my normal bra's straps.
