I loved this dress, but I could not zip it on my own--and it wasn't because of fit. The zipper runs over the leather trim, making it very hard to zip. Luckily the babysitter could do it before I left! So I recommend not getting dressed solo.

was it small in the waist, too or just on top?

It was small all around, but especially in the bust area (and I'm not big breasted). I'd say, for example, that if you are a true size 6, the 8 will likely fit. And as far as conservative goes, the photo makes it appear that the front dip is pretty low. It's not. I believe a regular bra could work.

This dress runs VERY small. I was not even able to wear it to the event I rented it for. I'm between a size 6 and 8 and the 8 smooshed my B cup into nothing. Also, the front of dress is more conservative than shown. If the fit, well, fit, I would have loved this dress.
