Underestimating the heft
I thought that this might be ok for my birthday party, but the heft of it makes it feel incredibly formal, even for me, who dresses up to take out the garbage. So, I'd say that it's *only* formal wear.

this fabric is too thick to add pleats. these added about 5 lbs to the look of my tummy area, so i never wore them.

cute, but adds bulk to waistline
this is cute, but if you want your waist to appear to be smaller and not thicker, then you might not like this dress. the velvet at the waistline adds a bit of bulk, so i chose not to wear it.
