The dress is so cute, you can/should size down and it will still have a relaxed fit. I'm 5'5" and it was definitely longer on me than on the model which made the seam under the open back hit at the wrong place. But the open back is fun and cute, you definitely can't wear a bra with the back - I wore a backless sticky bra and it was perfect.
