I wore this for a black tie event and it was beautiful. I don't know if I actually got an 8L as this was the only option given for this review, but I ordered an 8R. It was QUITE long, so I held it up when walking (I had on 2.5" heels). I no longer have it to check the tag so I can't say if the length was long or normal.

I was looking forward to wearing this for a black tie event, but the weather ended up being too warm. I typically wear a small or medium and this small fit like a medium. I thought it was really pretty, and liked how it fit over an evening gown that was tight so as not to make me look frumpy.

I would have worn this dress, but I liked my back-up more. The dress is a little long (I don't wear heels higher than 3" and am only 5'2"). It was actually a little big on me, so a 6R would have been a perfect fit, but the 8R was good enough and didn't leave me feeling like I needed spanx underneath.

I ended up sending the 8R back because I just wouldn't have been able to sit down in this dress. It was a little long (I'm 5'2") and I'm not accustomed to super-high heels, but I could have made it work if it was just a tad bigger. I did feel like it was very figure-forgiving and would have worn it had there been a 10 petite or 10R available.
