As soon as I opened this dress, I loved it even more than I had from the website, and once I got it on, I didn't want to take it off. I got so many compliments on it throughout the night, and no one else wore anything remotely similar, making the dress a little bit of a statement piece - but in a perfectly subtle, not-at-all-flashy way. And it's comfy, too! I very highly recommend. FIT/TECHNICALITIES: The dress is two completely separate pieces: a nude-taupe spaghetti strap slip dress to go underneath, and the sheer lace overlay dress with all of the dress's (beautiful) detailing that you see in pictures. The undergarment piece is smaller (both tighter and shorter) than the main overlay piece. As a whole piece, the dress fits very well and also has a little bit of give, which makes this dress forgiving if you're feeling bloated or are planning to eat a lot in it. I am just a bit above average height - 5'6" - and the lowermost parts of the hem hit an inch or two below my knees, but because it's sheer from the above-the-knee hem of the undergarment to the lower hem of the overlay piece, it looks pretty much knee-length in person. Overall this dress runs true to size, but if you're on the fence about which way to go with your second size, I would probably recommend sizing down. STYLISTIC NOTES: What I loved most about this dress is that its style and vibe is a unique blend of classic/romantic and Gothic. The lace overlay part of the dress is horizontally tiered with black lines, sort of reminiscent of the hoop skirt. The coral-and-subdued-turquoise of the flowers and vines against the sheer black background and paired with the black "hoop skirt" tiers are what give the dress its Gothic feel, but at the same time, the floral & lace details and the flowing silhouette of the skirt are feminine and sweet, which provides a nice balance and stops the dress short of being too edgy for a sartorially-conservative event.

I wore this dress to my engagement party (cocktail attire) and it was perfect. It definitely runs small - I usually order a 2 and a 4 from RTR, but after reading the reviews of this dress I ordered a 4 and a 6 and wore the 6, with little to no room for error; the material has no give. That being said, if this dress fits you, it fits perfectly. The cut is very flattering, particularly if you are comfortable with your waist and stomach but less comfortable with your legs. Overall I felt great in this dress and I got compliments on it all night.
