The buttons on the side to close are snap buttons, any movement for a more fitted look will snap them open. I recommend sizing up!

If you rent get the blazer or plan for something drop waisted
The pants are an elastic waist, which is fine, but the groin area doesn’t look cute or fitted (because it’s not), so plan for a longer top to cover the almost sweatpants look to the top of the pants
