I chose not to wear this dress to the event because I felt incredibly uncomfortable in so many ways. The dress has a ridiculous amount of material that made me feel really hot. It also had these wires that formed the chest part that dig into my stomach. As for how it looked, I was just not flattering. I am 41 years old, pear shaped, 5'8, and 175 pounds. This accentuated ALL of my curves to the point that I looked like a caricature of a cartoon pear. The spanx could also not reign in the belly pooch. I tried mustering up my best inner-Beyoncé and strutting like I owned it, but alas, I am not Beyoncé and sadly never will be. I decided to go with a comfortable and flattering jumpsuit that i bought at Nordstrom the same day, which didn't cost much more than the rental.

I think I just need to give up on DVF. There is never enough material in the chest area. I am normally a size 8 (5'8 and 165 lbs with a medium frame), but ordered a 10, and there was still a huge gap in the cleavage area. I'm a 34D, so that isn't exactly a work-appropriate look. Even when I tried to safety pin it together, the material pulled across the chest in a weird way. It's a shame, because the quality of this dress is excellent and the pattern is beautiful. Maybe DVF styles work well for petite women with smaller frames and chests, but not for me!
