I wore this to a military ball and was hesitant about ordering a plain black dress, thinking that it would be very boring. The fit was amazing and hugged curves in the right places. I did wear Spanx underneath which was needed to keep things smooth. I am small chested (34A) but felt like the top fit ok despite that - it may be an issue if you are top heavy. I am 5'7" and 145ish pounds and the 6L fit perfectly with 3" heels.

I wore this to a formal military function. This showed off just enough skin in the back to feel special without being too revealing. The dress has much more dimension and class in person and fit true to size. I am 5'7" and got a Long which was honestly a tiny bit too long with 3" heels. I definitely had to hold the dress up going up stairs. After reading other reviews on length, I am still glad I went with L over R. I am small chested (34A) and there was extra space on top, but it wasn't overly noticeable. I used a sticky cup bra which worked well.
