I loved this dress so much I went and bought one!
Derek Lam describes this dress as having a "relaxed fit" which isn't quite true. It hugs your waist so if you are pear-shaped or have a bit of a paunch, you may want to look elsewhere. If you're large-busted, this dress is forgiving because of the the soft drape of the bodice. Same for those who are a bit larger in the hips as the fabric is cut on the bias and with soft folds as it falls from the waist. This dress is the perfect dress to go from work to out on the town - which is why I ended up buying one after I returned this one to RTW!! I liked this dress that much! During the day for work, pair it with pumps and a blazer. At at night, take off the blazer, add some scrappy sandals (red, black or blue look great) and a clutch or a minaudière and off you go! I paired it with a tomato red minaudière and it really set off the dress. Unfortunately no photos because the dress is a stunner!! I received so many compliments when I wore it. You won't be sorry when you rent this one!!

Beautiful and Extraordinary!
This dress will only work if you are built like a stick. Any curves of any kind and it won't fit because it's very unforgiving. It actually is quite true to size unlike what some of the other reviewers indicated. But then again, if you have hips or boobs, it won't work for you. It has an internal corset and boning which are separately zipped and which required my husband's help. Then the exterior needs to be zipped as well. Again, the location of the zipper means you'll need help. I'm short the dress ended up looking quite formal, more like a gown for a black tie event and so ended up not wearing it. The photos do not do this dress justice. With the beading and cascading ruffle in the back the dress is stunning. If you're taller than 5'5", it will be more of a midi length, but it's definitely too dressy for something that specifies cocktail attire. Think black tie where you'll see men in tuxedos and women in long gowns and this dress will be a show-stopper.
