beautiful, but heavier than I expected
this is a beautiful and flattering skirt; it's quite heavy cotton but still comfortable in heat

Breezy but unspectacular
This was a nice and breezy skirt for a hot day, but I couldn't figure out anything more interesting to wear with it than a white T, so it was kind of meh

A cute tiny purse for women who carry nothing
Who are these women who leave the house with nothing but a phone, a single credit card and perhaps one tube of lipstick? This purse is so tiny that it could barely fit more than that plus a couple of business cards. Hats off to all you ladies who somehow make that work but OMG do NOT make me leave my AirPods at home just because the purse is too tiny to fit them. Also note that the little handle on this purse is lavender. I didn't like it but thankfully it didn't clash with my outfit.

Great color, ok style.
This is not the world's most flattering top but I loved the color and it hit in the perfect spot just below the waist. I wore it with a hot pink camisole, bright red jacket and burgundy trousers and I just loved the symphony of reds.

No, this does NOT run small at the waist.
Based on other reviews I rented the large rather than medium. I am a size 10 with a 32-inch waist and the size large literally fell off me. It was a beautiful skirt (though really, too warm for spring) so I may try rented again, and next time I will definitely go with the medium.

A spectacular and surprisingly wearable top, even if you're scared of orange
This top was a risk for me: I love bold colors and patterns but orange is a color I usually steer away from or it makes me look jaundiced. I was surprised at how flattering the color, pattern and cut of this top were, though I'm going to try it again in a medium before I decide whether to keep it. The fabric is very nice, and I suspect washable, though I couldn't find a label with care instructions. I wore this shirt several times with bright colored jeans and got lots of compliments -- including from my teenager, which is high praise indeed!

Eye-catching coat draws constant attention but doesn't close
If you have ever wondered what it's like to be Elmo, this is the coat for you. This coat is not a good thing to wear if you do not like to talk to strangers. I have NEVER had so many people stop me to comment on something I’m wearing — literally more than 30 times during one day walking around Seattle. I’m not sure all the compliments were necessarily sincere: I think it’s one of those things like when someone gets a huge tattoo or a dramatic haircut, and you can’t say nothing, so you default to a compliment. But there were definitely some people who loved it, and wanted to have an actual conversation about what it was, where it was from, etc. That was fun for a day, but I was worried it would be a bit exhausting over the long haul. Back home in Vancouver, it is either less of a hit or reticent Canadians don't stop people to comment on their clothes the way Americans do: I have only received the occasional comment. Then again, I haven't worn it as much as I'd hoped. It's almost impossible to close: The closures are very small hook-and-eye closures, spaced far apart, and perhaps due to frequent cleaning the hooks and eyes have kind of matted over so they are nearly impossible to use. That makes this an annoying coat if you really want to close it, and are popping in and out of shops in a way that makes you want to button and unbutton.

Flattering (pink) dress that doubles as a hand towel
I felt great wearing this soft, extremely flattering dress. I tied the bowtie at a more moderate size, and you could even skip the bow altogether and just have more of a sarong field to the skirt. It is a very very flattering cut for those of us with belly issues. If you are looking for a bright red dress, I would say this is not quite it: I am a purist when it comes to shades of red, and this feels more like a pinkish red than a true red. (I know, I know, it looks like a perfect red in the photo. But trust me people, there is a serious undertone of pink. OK, my kid insists it's orange. Well whatever it is, it ain't red.) The drawback: It is more wrinkly than crisp, so even though the cut and fit are dreamy, I wouldn't wear if in the professional contexts for which I rely on RTR. It would be fine for a day at the office (unless you have a suit-y job) but I can't imagine wearing this for a speech or media appearance. It just isn't crisp or polished enough. Admittedly it arrived quite wrinkled, and since I was renting it to use for a headshot, only bothered to iron the top half. (So you can see exactly how wrinkled the sash and skirt looked when they arrived.) Even the top was pretty wrinkled after a day of wear. I think the fabric is also somewhat worn, or perhaps it's just very thin and soft but to begin with. One surprising upside: that generous sash made for a fantastic emergency hand towel when it turned out the café washroom did not have any paper towels left. You gotta love clothing that does double duty!

Sharp and tailored
I rented this for a video shoot, and wore it over a black crewneck and jeans. It's an easy piece to dress up or down, and I ended up wearing it various ways in the weeks I had it: My favorite look was over a short skirt with over-the-knee boots. I never wore it solo; I wore it open over other things. I don't *love* this garment -- it's not at all soft or sexy -- but it's very useful.

A fun top to enliven any outfit
I loved this shirt and wore it multiple times and in multiple contexts --- to work meetings, on camera, and out for a casual dinner with a pair of jeans. I could barely bear to send it back, and I may well rent it again so that I can buy it!

Boobs! With bonus dress!
I loved how well this dress fit and how flattering it was -- until I tried to actually hide my bra. I'm fairly busty so even my lowest-cut bra was barely hidden by the neckline (fashion tape required). I'm not shy about showing cleavage but I felt uncomfortable wearing this -- just way too low-cut.

Magic work pants
I found this at the RTR NYC store and fell in love! A stylist paired it with an oversized menswear style blouse that inspired me to buy a similar shirt myself. I was tempted to hold onto the trousers, which got tons of compliments: I love the fit and style. I will definitely rent again!

Great pants , short rise
Love the way these look but they weren't very comfortable because they have a short rise. I'm pretty high-waisted so that's not an unheard of problem for me: if you're someone who finds that pants can cut you off uncomfortably you'll probably find these don't work. Also NB that while the fabric looks and hangs great it feels polyestery.

Magic pants for any occasion
These pants are gorgeous! Beautiful cut, great fabric and easy to dress up or down. I would never have sent them back...but the medium was just a bit too uncomfortably snug for my large (30") waist even though they fit and hung beautifully everywhere else. I think I'll rent again in L and see if those fit better.

This dress is borderline unwearable.
I'll admit it: When I read other renters complaining that the straps were way too long, I figured that maybe they just had smaller bustlines that didn't fill it out. I usually have the opposite problem. but this dress had straps that were way too long for me, too. If I'd left the straps as-is my boobs would have been pretty much fully exposed. I pinned them shorter but it made the dress hang weirdly. Not a good choice.

I have borrowed two previous pairs of TOME pants and loved them so much I bought a pair. But for some reason these fit MUCH smaller than the medium-sized TOME karate pants I now own. I didn't wear these.

These are the PERFECT pants. Really.
I rented these after falling in love with a pair of TOME karate pants that I rented from RTR in the winter. These are a crisp, solid cotton -- not heavy, not light. And like the crepe karate pants I previously rented, they are PERFECTION. They hang beautifully, feel incredibly comfortable, are incredibly flattering and pair beautifully with either a fitted or boxy top. I've worn them for work and also just casually. In fact I loved them so much that I put them on my ShopStyle list and got alerted when this EXACT pair went on sale on The Real Real, and now I own my own! (I bought them in medium because the large was a little too big for me by the time I got back down to 150 lbs -- the large fit well when I was 160-170.) The only thing I'd caution folks about is that the black cotton is showing its wear -- it's just lost its sheen a bit after passing through various hands. The consignment pair I just got are in better shape than the ones I got from RTR.

Crisp, forgiving shirt with great texture
This shirt was so perfect with the culottes I was renting that I couldn't resist renting it, but the truth is that the 42 was too big for me. In the right size I think it would be a great shirt -- it's got lovely color and texture and feels great on.

This jacket made me feel like a badass
Inspired by a friend who swears that wearing leather jackets has made people take her more seriously at work, I decided to borrow this one. It's definitely closer to brown than red --- and I'm a red person, so I wasn't sure I'd be happy with the color. But I loved it, and I wore it far more than any other RTR item I've rented -- just about every other day for a month. It fits nicely (if snugly -- I was surprised that the XL was only JUST large enough) and has these very cool zippered pockets that zip all the way up to the chest, kind of like decorative darts. The jacket feels heavy but not oppressively so -- just substantial and good quality. Love, love, love it.

Fun, playful skirt that is more interesting than your usual denim
I loved the cut and ease of this skirt -- it's the kind of thing you can wear with anything! I'm currently losing weight at a fairly rapid pace, so the size 12 was just a hair too large when I picked it up in-store (at the time, my waist was about 33"). After a few days of walking all over NYC and skipping meals in favor of theater it was really too large to wear. But I'd happily rent it again -- I'd size down to a 10 or maybe an 8.

Easy, flattering pants for work or casual wear
These pants are comfortable and flattering. The fabric is quite a bit heavier than I expected; they may be summer length but they aren't really summer weight, so they'd be too hot to wear in a hot summer climate. But they'd look great in the winter with a pair of boots! NB that the fabric *does* snag very easily -- I wouldn't be very happy if I bought them and kept finding these little catches in the fabric. But they were in good enough shape that I didn't worry about them looking worn. At my current waist size (33") the size 10 was just a little snug -- it held in my tummy in a useful way, but I wouldn't have wanted to expose the waistline so I wore it with a shirt covering the top few inches.

A wow dress that is surprisingly forgiving!
I tried this dress on just for kicks --- and was AMAZED at how flattering it was. I've got a large bust, and far from making it more prominent, the ruffle was very effective camouflage...and the dress was very forgiving of my other lumps and bumps (albeit, with the benefit of spanx). A total winner!
