Saying this is a dress is a stretch!
Rented this for a work event and was very surprised at how short it was. I would describe this as a tunic, there was absolutely no way I could have worn it without leggings. Luckily it was on the cold side the day I needed it so I wore leggings and boots and it looked fine. If you're 5'0" tall this may be great for you though! The body is cute and I got several compliments so overall wasn't a bad rental in the end.

SIZE UP!!!
I have to say I decided to get this on the fly for a work event and really didn't comb through the reviews which probably would have told me that this runs very small. The fabric has absolutely no stretch and the body of the garment is cut extremely straight. I have no curves on the bottom and this thing was quite tight at my hips. I'm also a C cup but had a little bit more room up top. I of course did not try this on until I was getting ready for work in the morning and was shocked when I couldn't get the 2 past my upper thighs, a very small part of my body. I was further in a pickle when I realized that the 4 offered little in additional room. I had no other options, a spanx probably would have helped a tad but I didn't have one that would work. I wore the dress very uncomfortably for my morning meeting and then changed midday because I couldn't stand it riding up my body. I wish I had gotten the 4 and 6 so definitely pick the larger end of your range and then back up with an even larger size. The concept of this dress is to have that 20s dropped waist so wearing it tight is not the look. It would have been a super pick had it fit properly, although I did get several compliments as I was trying to yank it downward when no one was looking.

Wore this to a wedding, got many compliments. Fit was great, since the bodice is heavily beaded and the skirt is away from the body, you don't have to worry about any rogue fat rolls or cellulite making an appearance. You will need a low back bra as the back comes down too low for a regular bra. I guess you could also go without because you won't see anything, but that is not my style. The dress is a woven fabric so it does not stretch at all so I would definitely be safe and order the size up as your 2nd.

This runs completely true to size, I could have definitely worn the 2 but I ordered a 4 and 6 because this was a work event and I didn't want it to look to sexy. Fabric is nice and thick so you could definitely go without Spanx. One thing I didn't realize, maybe it was written in the details or in people's comments and I just didn't read it... you are going to need a low back strapless. The lace portion in the back comes just low enough that you will see the sides of your bra. Thumbs up.

Pretty necklace but unfortunately as soon as I put it on, it broke. RTR quickly refunded my money. Can't win them all, these items are worn over and over and are shipped all over the country. I would definitely think about renting it again though.

Great dress
I wore this to a wedding in a beach town. This is very versatile because it can be dressed up or down. I rented the regular length because I wasn't sure what shoes I wanted to wear. I ended up with a 3" heel so you were able to see my shoes a bit which I think added to the more casual side I was going for anyway. If you're my height I would say regular if you want to wear flats, long if you're in heels. This dress has an inner corset to give a little more structure, I'm sure if you were on the smaller chested side you could go braless, I wore a strapless. I would definitely rent your size and one size down, this dress would look like a moo moo if worn too large. Worst case scenario you could not zip up on the corset on the inside if you needed extra room.

A must rent for a formal affair
I wore this to the Academy Ball in Philadelphia, it was absolutely gorgeous. I got tons of compliments, it's form fitting while still being conservative and the tulle fabric just floated around the room. A note on length for those of you who drive yourselves crazy wondering what length is right since you're on the cusp like me... the 2L was ok. I wore 3 inch heels, I could have probably worn a bit higher heel because I felt like an inch off the bottom hem would have been perfect. That said, I simply kicked my feet out as I walked to make sure I didn't step on the dress and that worked out fine. I think the 2R would have been an awkward length. Definitely have someone measure you in your heels if you're uncertain.

Great Dress!
Ok so having lost about 10lbs for my upcoming wedding, I have been been much more on the side of a 2 than 4. This dress however, I definitely needed the 4. I am completely straight up and down, absolutely no butt and while I could have wedged myself into the 2, I certainly would not have been comfortable and potentially not able to sit down. The lace layer of this dress has absolutely no stretch so I would certainly recommend sizing up if you're in any way curvy. I could feel the tightness even in the 4 around my butt which was surprising. That said, the dress looked great, an understated sexy perfect for a wedding. I wore a more 'statement' style necklace for a little pizazz.

Very interesting dress
This is a very interesting dress, but definitely not for everyone. I wore the XS and felt it was enormous. It's designed to be very oversized I think which is not how the model makes this look. If you rent this, go two sizes down and find a cool belt to wear with it, the tie is never going to make it look like the photo. Might be a good prego dress... lots of room.

It was just ok.
This is a body hiding dress for sure, so definitely size down. I had the misfortune of getting a damaged size 2 (RTR was great about this and refunded my money) but after several attempts to hide the defect I wore the 4. I had to pin it to my bra to keep it in place, it was really too big but l had no back up. I think this is a great dress for pregos and if you're very flat chested like the model. Anyone else I would say give something else a try.

Fun party, great dress. No dry cleaning necessary.
Rented this for a casual wedding. Though it wasn't a 'wow', it was easy and very comfortable. I definitely recommend a size down in this dress, I wore the 2 and usually always wear a 4. One downside is that this wrinkles pretty easily as you may be able to tell from my photo. Not great to pack or for a long car ride.

Understated and classy
Rented this for a formal NYE party. I ended up wearing the 2nd dress I bought instead. It's very nice but very simple. The picture made it seem that the fabric had more of a sheen, it's completely matte. I really didn't have the jewelry needed to jazz this up. If you want something understated and conservative then this dress is for you. It's also very forgiving on the body.

Wearing something that looked great but was also amazingly comfortable.
Wore this to a rehearsal dinner. Maybe it was just me but it was a little difficult to figure out how to get it on properly with all the draping. Dress fit beautifully and I think would definitely flatter any body type. Fabric is a tad clingy so proper underwear and/or spanx are in order. I was very happy with how I looked.

Very cute for church ceremony
I wore this to the church portion of a wedding I went to recently. It fit very nicely, however there's a hook and eye in the center to keep it closed which looked very odd when I used it. I'm a 34C, so if you have a big chest, I would suggest wearing a black tank underneath so you don't need to close it which is what I did. It's a very classy dress and I was pleased with how it looked.

Ok, let me break down the issues with this dress. First of all, I'm not sure if this is true with other sizes, but the difference between the 2 and 4 in length was crazy. The 2 fit me in my body, but was ridiculously short and the length on the strap was so short it was cutting me under my armpit. I can't believe this model is 5'10" and it's hitting her a little above the knee. I wore the 4 as to not look like a street walker. Second issue was the fabric quality. Let's just say no one would have thought I was wearing a $490 dress and if you rent this, which based on the reviews I can't imagine you would, be very careful with jewelry as this thing will very easily snag on practically anything. Also, you better have a full coverage pant spanx to wear with this. The fabric shows EVERYTHING. I've used rent the runway before and have received tons of compliments on my dress. This one made no impact. FAIL.

This was a beautiful dress, got a lot of compliments on it. It is a very deep Navy, not black, just FYI. I decided to rent the 4 and the 6 because of the suggestions to size up. I wore the 4, but it just fit me in the chest. The 6 was looser, but the body was then too big. I'm a 34C so if you're bigger than that I think the proportions of this dress would be tough for you unless you wanted a looser fit in the body.

Both my friend and I did the surprise jewelry extra and loved it.
I wore this dress for New Year's Eve and received a lot of compliments. It runs true to size but can accommodate a larger bust which is usually why I wear a size 4. Here I wore the 2 and it fit like a glove. The only caution I have is that depending on your torso length the knot may hit you at a funny spot. I felt like that portion could have been a little higher on me but I'm also overly critical about how things look on my body. The sequins are small so they look expensive. Good rental. My friend in the photo is wearing a Badgley Mischka from RTR that she was also very happy with.

College friend's wedding where beer was served in giant mugs.
First and foremost, hanger loops!!! Their placement created a lot of frustration for me as there are several pictures where they are peeking out. If you rent this dress, make sure you have some dress tape to stick these puppies down, I wish I had some. I'm not sure where the reviews are coming from that this dress runs big, it does not. I typically wear a 4 and there is no way I could have worn the smaller size I rented based on the reviews. I would say if you are on the bigger chested side, there may be a better pick out there for you as this definitely adds interest to that area. I also can't stress enough that if you rent this dress you will definitely need spanx. While I had room in my midsection, it fit me very clean across the butt and thighs and if you have as much as a slightly raised mole, the fabric will show it. Overall though this is a very classy and pretty dress with a few disclaimers.

The great thing about the Nicole Miller dresses in this fabric is that they are super forgiving. No worrying about sucking in or wearing a certain type of underwear. I rated this as running small only because I've worn the size 2 in other Nicole dresses and this one I wore the 4 as the 2 seemed to be drastically smaller. One note on color, on my screen this looked to be a steel grey, it's in fact a very deep blue grey. I think this would be a great pick if you're renting for the first time and are worried about the dress fitting nicely. I can't imagine anyone could look bad in this.
