I go to the Marine Corps Ball every year, and have been using RTR for the last few years and it's always been a great experience! Loved this gown, it was form fitting without being too tight or uncomfortable, I am small chested so I didn't even have to wear a bra with this, and I'm only 5'2" and the length was perfect with small heels!  I'd definitely recommend it, especially for short people like me who have difficulty finding long gowns that you're not tripping over.

I ordered this dress in a size 8 and 10. The 8 fit like a glove and was perfect!


Hi! Was the chest area comfortable open or a good fit?

Let me just say, I have NEVER gotten more compliments in my life than while wearing this dress! It fit perfectly, was so comfortable, and a great dress to dance in! Was also awesome that I could wear a normal bra with it. Fit true to size, only thing was that it was a little short as a 5'5 girl with 4 inch heels. I am sad to return it! 

It was a tight fit with no room for stretch, so I would size up to be safe. The top was loose but it was the only way I was able to fit in the dress. 

I really liked the dress. The fit was great and I felt very comfortable.  The length was perfect, I wore 5 in. heels and I am 5'2". The material was of very good quality.  I would have selected my back up as a size 4 because the size 2 was perfect, a little on the tight side, but I liked it that way.  I didn't even try the size 0!

I rented this dress for a formal wedding and it was gorgeous! Warning- this dress has a very annoying side zip though! This is always a struggle for me because my girls are large for how small my waist is. My husband had to assist in getting me in the dress and there may have been skin being zippered involved lol. Once on it's really very flattering. If your brad strap is lower in the back you could wear a standard bra with this. I opted to not wear one and just put cutlets in for a little push up. I opted for the 0L over the 2L because the 2L had a good handful of extra fabric on the stomach area. The 0L also had extra fabric but that was ok as I enjoyed being able to breathe all night and the fabric texture hid all that. I am 5'4 and was wearing 5 inch heels. The bottom of the dress didn't cover my toes but I wasn't tripping on it or getting caught on it all night which was nice an there were lots of stairs at the venue. I rented the Dark Wing Necklace to go with this and it was gorgeous!  

The dress ran a bit larger up top but probably could have used 14R but did not have time to exchange. I tried several dresses from RTR and would do this again.

The stretch in the material was amazing, it allowed for some pull in the hips and thighs, I am a true size curvy 8 and a 38D Bust (natural) and it allowed me ample room and comfort, I loved the sexiness of the dress without being too revealing. Many many compliments all night long.

The body of the dress fit great, but for the more well-endowed (I'm a G cup), you'll need to go up a size and the waves of the lace in the neckline will disappear on you.  The dress is short, I'm 5'4" and the dress barley touched the ground with flats on.  I'd recommend getting the long size for anyone taller or if you plan on wearing heels.  Other than that, I definitely recommend this dress.  I was worried my curves would be tricky, as my waist is a full 2 sizes smaller than both my hips and bust, but the construction of this dress fit me like a glove at every level.  Very comfortable to sit and dance in.  I was so sad to have to send it back.

I had no problems with this dress, it was beautiful and got me so many compliments.

I wore this dress to a black tie wedding. The fabric has stretch to it, so it it super easy to wear. I wore Spanx, just because the dress is very form fitting and I didn't feel like sucking in the whole night (make Spanx do the work!!). I am 5'10'' and wore 3 inch heals. The dress skimmed the tops of my heels. I would have preferred it to be longer but it still looked great. I wore Kate Spade chandelier earrings with it in the same blue as the dress but  gold would look amazing with it too. You'll definitely get compliments in this one- and great for tall girls :)

This was a stunning dress, perfect for my event. I actually ended up choosing my back-up dress which was a size smaller than I typically wear. It was snug around the torso and the zipper was a bit difficult. But once zipped up, it hugged in all the right places. Many previous dress wearers commented on the dress being short. I agree but I actually preferred it that way because I don't care for wearing huge heels. I wore 2" heels and found the length to be great! I received a ton of compliments during the night and found the process to be very hassle-free. 

After a couple of mishaps with the original dress I was supposed to receive, the Lusting Over You gown is the one that ended up showing up. While I was disappointed to not be wearing red, as was my original plan, I am SO happy I ended up with this dress. It fit perfectly (I did wear spanx to smooth me out a bit, but it wasn't essential) and was actually really comfortable. I got a ton of compliments and had a great time dancing the night away. Highly recommend! 

Loved this dress. I wore it to my boyfriends military mid winter formal and it was perfect. Last minute my backup size 8L became unavailable so to make up for it Rent The Runway sent me two additional dresses free of charge. Loved both of those dresses but luckily the 6L fit. Snug at first but stretched out throughout the night. Absolutely loved this dress and got so many compliments!! I really felt like a princess at a ball in this dress. Only negative about this dress is that it RUNS SHORT. I am 5 6 and ordered the long just in case and even with only 2 inch heels could see my feet so I ended up not wearing heels. Other than that it is amazing! Zipper is also difficult to work and zip up so don't freak out if it doesn't fit at first, you just may need some help. Also, there is no need for an additional bra underneath cause it fits snug up tight. I would advise if you have a larger chest to get a size bigger. But once again loved this dress and Rent The Runway is such an incredible website. They truly do absolutely anything to help.

I got the OR and the 2R. Both actually fit me.
 The 0 was a tighter fit and the length was perfect for my petite frame.
The 2R was a more comfortable fit but a few inches longer. 
The only downfall of the whole dress is the zipper. Its very difficult to zip up and it wasn't due to size.
To sum it up, I LOVED this dress and would rent it again. 

Loved, Loved, Loved this dress. Fits snuggly to make you look skinny mini. The bottom has the mermaid flare which I couldn't really see in the model photo. I was so happy with this dress and will be renting again.

This was a last minute over night the day of the event cross my fingers it fits dress after my initial selections didn't work.   My normal size is 8 or 10 but the 12l fit me like a glove.   Zipper was tricky as well but once in it , it was absolutely perfect for the charity black tie event.   I am 5'7" and the long was a must with heels.  This was my first RYR experience and I give the entire process 5 stars 

I am a curvy woman and after having 2 children i was worried about getting a dress that may draw attention to my stomach area. This dress does the opposite. I felt slim and beautiful. Don't hesitate, definitely rent this! 

I went with the 0 because the length was an issue for me with the 2. I'm short and petite so the 0 was perfect (I wore 5 inch heels). It was elegant and classy. I got so many compliments! It was comfortable and I could move around easily. Would love to go back to that night. The dress was a hit! 

This dress fit a little tight over my hips so I went with one size up and was perfectly comfortable! It is very form-fitting, so be prepared to show those curves! Compliments did not stop all night long and I loved this dress! Length was perfect. I am 5'6 and wore 4 inch black heels.

The dress hugged all of the right parts. I am 5'1" and with my 4" heels the length was perfect. I would definitely recommend this dress to anyone looking for a gown to a ball or other formal event. Received many compliments throughout the night.

I absolutely LOVE this dress, it is so figure flattering! I wore it to an elegant wedding at the Four Seasons in Santa Barbara. I received so many compliments that night that I'm almost tempted to buy it and wear it again and again! 

Fit was tight throughout bust and waist, then loosened up through hips to the floor. Be careful with the length because fashion tape wouldn't fix this dress. I'm 5'3" and the regular length with 2-3" heels was perfect. Dress was easy to wear with a regular bra (I'm a 34DD) and lace didn't rub under the arms as can often happen. It's a classic look that doesn't go out of style but has enough interesting detail in the cut and fit that it doesn't just blend in with other black dresses! The zipper was very tough though -- from others renting it a few times too many... Make sure you have someone help you get in and out!

Dress is well made, classy, and glamorous! It was comfortable all night. I'm petite, so it was worn with 4 inch heels.  I'm a 30F in bra size but the dress fit well. 

The dress fit like a glove and hugs your body in all the right places. My only complaint was the shoulder straps were slightly loose ( I have small shoulders and run into this problem a lot), I used double sided tape to secure them to my body and problem solved! I received tons of compliments all evening long. This was my favorite rental thus far.

I wore this dress to my fiance's Marine Corp Ball and it was perfect. It was modest enough to meet all his commanding officers, yet I still felt sexy. 

Also, the dress looks way better on a woman with curves. So keep in mind the way to looks on the model is not how it'll look on you. 

I absolutely loved wearing this dress for a long day and night at a black tie optional wedding I attended! As others have noted it runs short. I'm 5'5 and I wore the long with 3 inch heels and it was grazing the floor. (It looks longer in this photo because my heels were sinking into the grass!)  I'm usually a 4-6 with a 32DD bra size that usually informs what fits, and went with the 6L on the day. 

Again, as others have noted the zipper was a little tricky so I did the bar soap on the inside of the zipper trick and it loosened right up. I felt like the whole dress was incredibly well-made and the zipper added to the feeling of sturdiness I experienced. I have an hourglass shape and this dress hugged every curve in the best way and smoothed over any imperfections. I also LOVED the back and how it dips down just the right amount. I could have worn a regular bra with this but opted for the magical stick-on NuBra so that I just didn't have to think about straps or anything. Great great dress that felt comfortable the whole time, whether sitting or dancing.

I originally ordered this in a 14L cause it was my first rental and i thought it would be better to be too big than too small...then the day before i was supposed to get it I got an email saying that size had been damaged beyond repair. I was already emotionally invested in that dress so i opted for the 12L and a similar dress in the 14L. Because of the setback, my dresses arrived an hour before I had to leave for my event. First I thought my favorite dress was too tight so I went for the backup... nope! I'm a breastfeeding mother (D)and my boobs were not going to stay in that dress! I found some spanx and went back for the 12L. Boobs looked great, butt looked great, and my night was perfect after that! I will most likely rent this dress again for a different event!

I definitely suggest the long.  I wore 3" heels and it was just long enough. 

Fit was perfect. Actually could have gone with the 2L but, the chest size needed the 4. Gorgeous dress and super comfortable. 

No stretch but true to size. I wore bra cups just to give it shape but not necessary. The zipper was difficult to zip up without a second pair of hands. Still loved it overall. 

The dress fit perfectly. But, wear nude underwear, since my black undies showed vaguely through the dress in photos! I had so many complements on this dress. It was perfect!

Loved this dress for the blacktie wedding I was attending. Black dresses can be boring, but the detailing on this dress made it stand out. It also really sucks you in and accentuates a curvy figure. I was worried it would be too tight when first putting it on as it has no stretch but once on, it was comfortable and perfect. Lots of compliments and felt glamorous. 

The dress was really beautiful and  fit great . I am just under 5'5'' and  after reading the reviews, i decided to order the Long.  The 2L fit everywhere except for the chest. I am a 34C and it was very tight....the  top portion of the 2L also felt small, like the armholes were too short.  I ended up wearing the 4L ...it was just perfect.  Not  as snug as I would have liked at the waist, but pretty clost.  The length was great with 3 inch heels.  

Wore about a 3 in heel and the length was perfect. I was worried about the bust but it fit well and was flattering. Wore a 100 ways bra because the back is too low for a regular bra

Loved this dress - would definitely rent it again. Felt like it was true to size, although short (which I actually didn't mind because it makes it so much easier to walk and dance in!) It was comfortable as soon as I put it on, although the lace under the arms was slightly scratchy. I felt like it was form fitting yet forgiving all at the same time

I’m in between a 4 and 2, and the 4 fit almost perfectly, if not a tiny bit snug. I loved this dress, and it was actually my back up and I chose to wear it. I feel like it flattered my curves very well, and I felt just sexy enough while not being too much. Even with it being pretty form fitting, it was still really comfortable to wear. My heels were around 2-3 inches and it was perfect with the petite length of the dress for me at 5’1”. I didn’t end up needing to wear a bra or use fashion tape (although I could have if I wanted to). 

 My bust is 34-DD and I had to order a 2R because the 4 was unavailable. I had concerns that I wouldn’t squeeze in or feel comfortable but took a chance anyway. Turns out it fit great and I felt very comfortable all night! Wore 3 inch heels and the length was perfect. Very structured and didn’t require a bra. Would wear this again and again.

I LOVED this dress! It was my back up and I could have gone down 2 sizes for sure, but I made it work and I'm so glad I did. The lace didn't itch at all and it made my butt look awesome! 

I am 5ft 6 and I ordered a long because they were out of the regular length. It ended up being a happy accident because the long was the perfect length with my shoes. Love the dress and was sad to take it off at the end of the night 😢

The size 2 fit perfectly. I'm 5'2" and weigh 100lbs. Got many compliments. 

I loved this dress. The cut and fit were so flattering. Length was perfect as well. I am 5'2 and had on 3.5" heels, it  hung just above  the floor.  I got a 6 and 8, honestly didn't see much difference between the sizes, they both fit the same. I did not end up wearing either though because it was a little heavier and warmer than I was wanted for a hot summer wedding. 

I rented this for a black tie optional fundraising event. The dress was hard to zip up, but once it was on, it was quite comfortable. It has a substantial lining, so it was pretty hot for a summer evening, but I was fine in the air conditioning. I have an average-to-small bust, so I could have worn it without a bra, but I ended up getting a stick-on push-up bra because I needed to fill out the bust of the dress. Even with this, the straps were a little big and I did feel like I had to readjust them several times, especially when sitting.  I was worried that the dress would be long, since I am petite, but the 0R was just the right length. The 2R was easier to zip but the top was way too big. I felt very elegant and received tons of compliments! Can't wait to rent another dress soon!

I was in love with this dress! We were able to pick our own bridesmaid dresses and this was a great choice! It's a gorgeous dress and very comfortable to wear all day. 

I was happy with the dress overall. I agree with the comments about the extremely difficult zipper, true to size-a bit smaller fitting, and runs SHORT!!! I am 5ft1 and I wish I would have rented the 0long. The 0reg was too short with my heels. My backup, the 2reg was long enough but too big. Also, you smaller chested women like me, you will NOT fill out this dress. I'm a 32b and although the dress fit great everywhere else, the chest was much too big. It didn't look bad but it would have looked so much better on a bigger chested gal. 

This dress hugged in all of the right places; I really feel like my picture doesn't do it justice, but I have no other pictures from this evening. The mermaid fit created an illusion of curves that I definitely don't have otherwise! The lace is beautiful, and the material felt like it hid any imperfections in my stomach. Definitely, a dress that you can eat in! I do have a shorter stomach, so I found myself tugging it down frequently. The length worked out perfectly with a small heel. Like others have mentioned, the zipper is a bit sticky and the fabric was uncomfortable at times. Ultimately, the RTR experience was excellent. I'll definitely be ordering again!

Rented for what I thought was a black tie event but turned out to be a cocktail event. Luckily i don't mind being overdressed. This dress fits like it's painted on. So flattering, hugs curves and not too big in the chest which was nice for me. The tulle on the bottom is the real MVP. Elegant and yet comfortable to dance in. So happy I got the Long version, as with heels I could have even asked for a couple more inches of tulle. Had too much fun for a real pic, so apologies for the messy bedroom selfie. I blame the husband. One star off because the zipper was a little damaged and there was some ripping on the back tulle that looked like someone stepped on it while dancing in heels. 

I was still a little fluffy in my midsection from having a baby but this dress sucked it all in! My only issue was that it had obviously been worn multiple times so some wire kept stabbing me in my side

The dress is cut to accentuate the hips and waist. I lift weights and some dresses aren't very flattering, but I loved it so much that I had a friend who is a photographer take pcitures of me in the dress. 
I'm 5'2 and could easily wear 4 inch heels, but i had to tape my breasts in place to helps them look yheir best.

Rented this dress for a NYE wedding. Very comfortable! I wore a normal bra (huge bonus!) Agree with previous reviews, if 5'5" or taller get the long especially if you wear with heels. I had a hard time with the side zipper due to the thick material, zipper got "stuck" in it. Both the 4 and the 6 fit (couldnt tell the difference actually) but I opted with the 6 as the zipper was easier.

Super easy / good option for black tie event. Great fit, perfect length with a pair of avg. height heels (I'm 5'5"). 

I️ ordered this for a formal event. I️ did have to get a replacement, because the boning has broken and was scratching me (although the replacement dress had the same issue). The replacement was about 2 inches shorter than the original dress, which was actually ok because I️ would normally take a petite and the original was a bit long. The dress fit perfectly, was comfortable and I️ received lots of compliments. I️ will definitely use RTR again.

The dress was perfect for a black-tie encouraged wedding.  It fit perfectly and hugged all the right places.  I'm smaller in the chest area and had to use cutlets but if I had a bigger bust the dress would have been very supportive.  I'm 5'7, 130 with an A bust size.  I'm curvy on the bottom and this dress def showed my assets well :)

Zipper on side was temperamental and top was a bit big, but overall - super cute!

I found out a week before the event that we were invited to the Air Force 70th Birthday Ball. I normally design and sew my own gowns but there just wasn't enough time. I went to the mall but all I could find was either gaudy homecoming gowns or frumpy matronly things. I took a chance and ordered from RTR. I was worried about getting it too small and ordered a size up, and wished i had not. It was loose, but that was my fault. We had an amazing evening, my wife looked so good in her blues and I was so proud to stand by her side and share the experience.

We have a number of events coming up, Christmas parties, more balls, and i will definitely order from Rent the Runway again!

I read several reviews that suggested renting long if possible. But only regular lengths were available so I took a chance. Even with flats, the dress did not consistently touch the ground. Luckily, I rented this for a photo shoot and not an event. So in most of the shots it looks fine but when I was walking around you could tell it was too short. All of that said, this is a beautiful, classy and romantic dress and I would rent this dress again if a long were available. 

I was stubborn and didn't order another size as a backup, however the 6 fit fine... unless I wanted to sit down. I ordered a 6L and despite the tag only saying "6", RTR customer service assured me it was indeed a 6L. That being said, it was too short and I was unable to wear heels with it... which probably was for the best anyway. The ribbing made for a beautiful silhouette except that because the form continues past your hips, it makes it rather uncomfortable to sit down because there were some ribs poking me. I got a few compliments and I loved the look, quality, and rental convenience of the dress however the degree of discomfort made me happy to return it when the event was over. 

I was nervous about the fit of this dress as I have never worn a form-fitting dress, but the reviews said the material was thick and supportive and it was.  I got great compliments and was comfortable the whole night.  I don't wear heels and this dress was the perfect length for flats.  I also always need to wear a bra, but the low back of his dress prohibited that which was not a problem because this dress was supportive in that area as well.  Overall it was a great dress for a wedding and another successful rent the runway experience!

I felt so beautiful in this fitted dress. It's VERY low cut and I'm very busty so there was more cleavage than I'm used to but it suited the occasion. Other than occasional adjustment because of the low cut neckline, it was excellent. 

Beautiful dress. Orded the 2R and the 4R. Length was perfect for me. I'm 5'1 and wore it with 3 inch heals. The top was loose. I have a small bust so I knew it would be. Wore a backless padded bra and fashion tape along the shoulders and that seemed to work well.  Zipper was difficult as others have stated but would recommend the dress. Received a lot of complements. 

Beautiful gown. Has good amount of stretch but still holds its shape. I am 5'8" and wore flats and it still was barely long enough; kind of wish I would have gone with a long. Lace is beautiful. I got multiple compliments from complete strangers. Nicely lined inside so was very comfortable. Highly recommend!

I loved this dress and received so many compliments - as a 5"2 person wearing 3" inch heels, the length was absolutely perfect - a first for me, but if I had to do it over again, I probably would have gone with the size 0, that I did not order! For the occasion, I think the size 2R was more appropriate, since it was not as form fitting as I normally would have liked, but it was just enough! i was skeptical of ordering the 0, but I'm not sure why! I am pretty small in my chest/collarbone area, so I had to use fashion tape to keep the top down flat on my chest, but it still looked beautiful. I would say this dress is true to size, but also on the verge of running large! All in all, 4.9/5 for sure! 

I wore this to a formal September wedding after my original dress wasn't available. I'm really glad I got this one instead! I absolutely loved it and got infinite compliments from male and female guests alike. It's glamorous, fit perfectly, classy and sexy. The Regular is the perfect length for shorter girls (under 5'4"-5'5" I would say). I'm obsessed with this dress and mulling about when I can rent it again. The fabric and cut are very flattering. It's so pretty and such good quality that I think this dress in white could actually be a wedding dress. The only "negative" I can think of is it's not stretchy so be careful about sizing. Also, it is pretty hot so I wouldn't wear this in the summer. Otherwise - go for it!

I lovedddd this dress! I wore it to my boyfriend's Marine Corps Ball and it was the best. This dress is so comfortable and it was the perfect size! I would definitely wear it again to another event!! 

Loved this dress, this was my first formal event post baby, and I was a little worried about hiding the baby belly, but this dress did a great job. Careful the top is low, but it isn't going to move on you.  One caveat, I received two sizes, but the larger size was obviously altered, and the bottom of the skirt was a different material than the top. Thankfully I could squeeze into the smaller size! 

The dress fit true to size. I ordered a size 2R and 4R. The 4R was a little snug and the top was a little loose but overall the dress was very beautiful and I enjoyed wearing it. I am 5' 2" , 134 lbs and wore 2" heels with the dress and it was just the right length to where it did not drag on the ground.  

I LOVED this dress from the moment I saw it! I normally wear a size 10 in jeans but an 8 in dresses. This dress is very fitted and the 10 barely fit. I'd definitely go up a size if you are curvy in the least. It was also barely long enough and I had on flats. If you are any taller than 5'4" you will need the long. The reviews mentioned the zipper being terrible and I would agree! You will need someone else to fight the side zipper for you. Overall I loved the dress and would definitely wear it again. Fun experience with my first RTR!
