This dress does run very large as described in the other reviews. The 40 was large on me. I'm usually a 4-6. However it still looked great. Wore it to two holiday parties and received a lot of compliments on the color!

If I ever had a favorite dress I have rented RTR then this is it! The fabric is so heavy and luxurious. Total strangers stop and compliment the dress. It is a wonderful cut and color and length and style. Big fan, and highly recommend this dress! In fact I like it so much we will be getting our Christmas photos in it. 

Very cool shape--perfect for work or an artistic event. Linen, but lined so it doesn't wrinkle too badly. You could probably size down for a tighter silhouette.

Beautiful, architectural dress. The vibrant color is amazing in person. The fit was a little awkward on me- big on top and almost too tight across the hips and booty. I sized down, and I probably shouldn't have. You do need to wear something underneath this dress or your bra will show. I wore a black bodysuit, and that worked well. Will rent again in my regular size.

Crisp cotton.  Impeccable cut.  Pretty red.  I'm in love. 

This was an awesome, modern dress. I could have accessorized it many ways, but opted for leopard pumps with a large tortoiseshell collar. I felt like a million bucks; will rent again!

This beautiful, bold dress may become a go-to for me.  The color is stunning, it has a heavier weight to it and though the cut is simple it only takes one look to know it is a high ticket item. Loved wearing it.

Pros were length, color and cut. Cons were arm pit hole size, could see bra through them so isn't exactly appropriate at work unless worn with a cardigan, which covers the gorgeous sleeves!

Great color - very classy and structured. Ideal for work. 

I love nice dresses and this is one of them.  Great fabric, color, and cut, but size wayyyy down.  I ended up returning it twice for a smaller size, and even that size was plenty roomy.  Obviously it's not designed to be form fitting.  Beautiful with chunky jewelry or an unusual pair of heels.  

None of thjis is actually true, order smaller and you cannot wear a standard bra

Super chic and structured fit. Running true to size, I'd recommend sizing up for backup if you're curvier and down if you're smaller framed. Although there is no stretch in the fabric there is room in the bust, waist, and hips, allowing for a shift-like silhouette. This style is definitely meant to be boxier and more of an oversized look. The cut also allows for you to wear a standard bra. At 5'7" the length hit at about my knee. Looks great with nude strappy sandals and minimal gold jewelry. 

This dress is really great with a modern feel but I felt it ran really large. Couldn't wear it. 

This modern take on a shift is so wonderful but I didn't end up wearing it because it was too fancy for everyday. 

In comparison to other Marni dresses, this was longer and ran large. The color was amazing, the cut was fun and trendy but it was too long for me. I wore it with heels and it looked professional but didn't fit as beautifully as other Marni dresses. 

I followed the general trend of going a size down on this one and did not regret it. This is supper flattering dress. Loads of compliments. My only issues was the wide underarm cut revealed your bra if you lifted your arms which is an issue at work for me but otherwise perfect. 

The material was heavy and structure was well made.  Looked and felt incredible.

Fit was large but the dress still looked great because of how it hangs. 

It hit below my calf, not at the knee like the model. Not super flattering on my small frame.

I rented a 40 which the size chart says equals a 2 but it fit more like a 4/6 so I had to return it. 

This dress is very structured, which is quite interesting, but also complicated. As a shift it seems as if it should be simple, but it is large up top and fitted on the lower half. I generally wear 42 in Marni so I was quite surprised by this. Also, I have a larger chest for my frame so I didn't expect the arms to be completely gaping. This is a beautiful dress so I will try to wear it with a tank top or something underneath. It might work better for someone who is tall and has a longer torso.

When you lift your arms you see straight to you bra inside. Not for hippy girls.


Loved the color and the heavy weight of the fabric.  That said the shape did not suit someone with a short body frame.  The dress was tight at the waist and baggy on top.  The arm holes were practically down to my waist.  

I generally love the Marni dresses, but this was not a favorite.  The arm holes are quite large and it was actually a bit dowdy looking.  I loved the color and the fabric, just not the dress for me.

Love this designer - but this dress fit me a little wonky.  There was tons of exposure under my arms down to my waist in the sleeve area.  The material is a nice weight and you can tell it is well made, but would not be work appropriate.

I just didn't love this dress although I really wanted to. It was tea length for me so I felt like I was drowning in it at times. I wore a tank underneath since it was very low cut and the arm holes were huge The fabric was also thick and a tad stiff but I felt like it wrinkled easily. I wore the dress to work with a jacket on top and to dinner and drinks with a friend.

I normally wear a size 2, so ordered a 40--big mistake! I could have fit two of me into this dress. It was also very long, falling below my knees. The material is thick, like canvas. I felt like I was in a futuristic prison uniform. (Orange is the new black!) I didn't end up wearing it. This would probably look good on a tall person with narrow hips and a fuller bust. Maybe if I had ordered the very smallest size it would have worked.

I rented this to wear as an everyday look to work. The color really appealed to me. The fit is very odd for me because it is extremely large in the waist/bottom and sleeves but the bust was fitted.  The bust was about the only section that looked normal. I did not wear it as it was way too big. I'm afraid if I had sized down a couple sizes it would have fit everywhere except the bust. Just not for me. 

The top fit fine but I could barely squeeze into the bottom half. Will size up and try again.

Fabric stiff and hangs strangely. Arm holes run low and very large, couldn't wear either size. Runs big, hangs oddly

so large..like drowning large. I usually wear a size 4 or small, so I ordered a 42. I wasn't able to wear it but will prob rent a smaller size next time! 

This dress was absolutely huge.  I am a size 4 and ordered the 42 as recommended.  It was more like a 14.  I swam in it and there was no way I could possibly wear, even recognizing it is supposed to loose fitting.  I am 5'4" and the hem went to mid-calf.  The sleeves gaped almost to my waist.
