This dress is actually two sizes too big for me, however, if you are busty you may want to size up at least one time. Either way it really does not matter because the dress has a nice flow to it. Layers very pretty late on the body. Wore it with a snappy sweater and together they really stood out. 
A definite dress up or down for work or non work event. 

Cute denim dress and a good length, not too short, not too long. The denim is a stretchy thick denim. But I found it pretty claustrophobic and tight in the arm pit and chest area. I had to wear a camisole underneath it because of the gaping in the front between the hook and eye closures. I would definitely size up if you have a larger chest.

This dress fits comfortably.  I'm 5' 3" and it covers my knees standing up. The color is blue jeans, not as it appears on the website page. The skirt part is very nice and the seams for the inserts are barely visible. It has a long zipper on the side and it makes it easy to get in and out of the dress without assistance.
It has few cons: it felt tight around my arms and wasn't fully free to move. It tends to open without warning...fabric tape is a must. It also looks so much better with a belt.
I received it without the tassels. It's not a big deal, but I guess I would have preferred the dress with all the details.
I am not sure I'll order it again because it doesn't stay close without some aide.

I love Derek Lam and this is another (mostly) terrific dress. This isn't as edgy as soon of his other designs. In fact, this one is pretty simple and plain--I wore mine with a belt, which I thought improved the look. The short mandarin collar is a nice touch. The fabric is really thick--a high quality denim. 
I wore this to work and got compliments on it.
This is a nice dress that you could potentially wear year round.
The con: the top is VERY poorly designed. There are only 2 wimpy hook and eyes that keep the top shut. Whenever you sit down or move, it has the potential to dislodge one or both of the eyes and then you're completely exposed, unless you're wearing a top underneath. So, I used fashion tape to reinforce the hook and eyes, which worked great.

Cute dress, though it needed a belt to look flattering as the waist was a tish loose. The two hooks needed a little help keeping the top closed. Fashion tape and / or a tank underneath may come in handy. 

I usually get such great things from Derek Lam, but this dress was not what i expected! The pictures dont really due it justice, the dress if very blue, and very clearly bkue denim, so it might be goid for daytime looks, but wanted to wear it to work (a dark denim would have worked, but this is very blue). The slit on the front is also down to my waist so i would have had to safety pin or fashion tape in a million places and did not want to have to deal with that. 

It's a thick, stretchy denim that is very comfortable (though can be a little hot for a really hot day). Fits a little more snugly than other Derek Lam tops/dresses. 

It is a "hard" denim not super soft.  
I did receive a lot of compliments in it. 

Picture shows a darker demin than in person. Thick and drapes nicely. I paired it with a silver belt and black heels. 42 was slightly too big. I'm between sizes 4 and 6.

This dress is super cute. The top portion did not have a clasp to button up so I had to wear a tank top underneath. It looked perfect, I paired it with a white tank top, white chucks and wore this as a casual dress to the mall and lunch with my mom.  I felt very put together and even got 2 compliments on my dress while I was out and about. You could easily dress it up for a different occasion. I will rent this again! 

This dress is great. The fasteners are too delicate and not perfect (they open on their own from time to time- gads), but the dress is fabulous nonetheless. High recommend.

This is a great dress. Comfortable and flattering. I've rented it a few times, and I always get compliments on it. It might be a tad on the large size, so I will try sizing down next time. 

This dress fit well for me. The length was just above my knee. The denim was a great weight, thick but not too heavy. Like other reviewers said, I had a problem keeping the top clasped. I had to wear an undershirt. If it wasn't for that, this dress would be perfect. 

Multiple compliments for this simple dress.  Flattering! knee length great for casual look at work.  NEED FASHION TAPE for the front-works a treat

Really great material, cut, design.  This dress gets many compliments every time I wear it.  It's not too formal or too business-y, so it's great to wear as a dressy outfit at a hip office.

I wore the 4 which I found to even be roomy on the waist (normal on the arms). Great a line shape. Super flattering. The top closure is two hooks, but you can keep the top hook open with a tank underneath so it looks sportier. 
Incredible versatile, You can wear it with espadrilles or ankle boots. I wore it twice, once to the museum with lace up espadrilles and open at the top button, and the second time to work with navy ankle boots and all the clips done. The denim is thick so you can wear it spring and early fall. 

Really great piece, you won't regret it! 

Subtle Tassels are a nice detail, and the impeccable structured gives this denim dress almost enough formality for Corporate.  Not quite Wall Street though, it's a dark denim but it is still denim.  The V uses very subtle hooks to close. Sharp- nice to change up a suit or give a speech in to a less formal group. 

Casual Friday at a conservative workplace. Received lots of compliments all day. 

I felt very confident in this dress. It's flattering and form fitting but not tight. Plenty of room for my full chest but enough space for my post baby belly without being too much. 

This is adorable. The fit is so flattering and love the fullness of the skirt. I would rent this again!

The pictures make this dress look really cute! But front clasp closures were in strange places and made gaps like a to-tight shirt. Because the dress is denim, I feel like it was tight like a just-washed pair of jeans.  It was a little tight everywhere. Overall, I felt a little self-conscious all day because it just felt and looked tight. 

Dress fit well, denim was a bit stretchy.  The one I received was missing the tassels & the clasp on the top hooked on to a flimsy looking string.  I wore a camisole underneath.

This is the 2nd time I've rented this dress through Unlimited. It's a great style, thick denim fabric, and the tassels add a little flare. The pic online looks grey but it's a dark denim blue. Only problem this time was that the 2 hook and eyes that hold the front closed were damaged; the "eyes" are just a few loops of thread and both of them need repair. I secured with safety pins so I could still wear it.

Great fit and heavy denim perfect for summer to fall transition. Added a silk scarf tucked around my neck into the dress and heels for corporate workplace. Tons of compliments 

Adorable dress but they didn't make the top right - fabric too heave for hook and eye and it gaps. 
Such a shame bc so many good things about it. 

the only reason I didn't buy it was because the front clasps kept coming undone and I had to pin the dress to keep it closed. The denim fabric is a bit heavy, but that allows the dress to stay looking nice and unwrinkled all day.

The sleeves run very small and tight whereas the rest of the dress fits true to size.

Loved the look, but the top was too small.  I wore a tank underneath and left it open and that worked out fine.  If I wore it again, I would try the next size up, but it might be too big everywhere else but the top.  Very cute dress.

I'm more used to a petite fit, so it felt generous and comfortable on.  The denim is significant and has weight to it.  Unsecured the top to make it a deep v-cut and layered with a white tank underneath and a grey jacket over it and tied the tassels into a choker for a night out.  Secured the top and left tassels dangling and added a belt for work.  It was comfortable after eating a big meal and for running around work all day.

It could have been dowdy, but that is why there is statement jewelry. I wore a tank top under it, so i didn't have to worry about the plunging neckline. I felt beautiful and looked the part of an expert. 

It was very comfortable and I got raving compliments. I wore it several times...once to work (including a lunch date) and as a nice casual outfit for house hunting. The tassels are super fun and flirty. It is a heavier denim, so probably not best for hot hot weather. I thought it fit true to size. 
Given that it was Derek Lam, I was a little bummed by the construction...or perhaps it was simply the garment I rented. I had to sew on one of the front clasps that was nearly falling off.  The armpit seams were also flimsy.

I didn't realize this was denim, but it worked for my business casual office anyway. I had some puckering issues with the bust, but someone with a D cup or smaller probably wouldn't have that problem.

This dress was great for work or casual dinner party. Like the other people stated, you'll need a camisole underneath and/or fashion tape since the front has 2 hooks to keep it closed. 

I rented this for everyday as my office doesn't allow denim; even if it is designer! It was a little loose in the waist so I added a belt.  The one I received was missing the tassels at the end of the ties, and I was bummed about that as I thought it really added in the picture. the top has enough cross over so I didn't need to wear a camisole, which is a plus in the  heat.

I loved this dress but it was so huge I couldn't wear it. I am usually between a 4 and 6, depending on the designer. The last time I rented this brand, I had a 6 and it fit perfectly. This dress has no reviews when I ordered it, so I went with a 6 again... It was HUGE! Could have gone down 2 sizes. Great  cut and fabric, very Chic and classy.... Needs a cami underneath as the front opening goes way down and there are only 2 clasps to keep it shut.

I knew I'd love this dress when I saw it here -- it arrived as part of my Unlimited shipment with new tags. This felt well-constructed with quality fabric thicker than your average chambray but thin enough that it wasn't overly stiff. 

I wore it with a belt since it ran a little bigger on me in the waist but perfect everywhere else -- nothing a belt won't fix. I felt like a chic, contemporary Audrey Hepburn and get compliments all day on this dress! It transitioned seamlessly to work, church, and on errands.  

The only downside is the front two clasps sometimes came undone depending on my level of activity. Would definitely consider adding to my queue again but would likely size down.
